I recently stayed at this hotel and regrettably cannot recommend it. While the location is convenient, the overall experience was disappointing. Cleanliness was a significant issue, particularly in the bathroom, which appeared neglected. The in-room kettle emitted an unpleasant odor that was nearly nauseating, and the mugs provided were visibly unclean. These hygiene concerns made for an uncomfortable stay. The hotel's facilities were outdated and poorly maintained. Despite its favorable location, the substandard cleanliness and overall quality of service make it difficult to justify choosing this establishment for future visits.

⭐ 1/5 – Absolutely Appalling – Avoid This Travelodge I honestly cannot believe the condition of this hotel. What should have been a simple overnight stay turned into an extremely unpleasant experience. From the moment we entered the room, there was a strong and disgusting smell of cigarette smoke. It was so overpowering that it immediately made the room feel dirty and unwelcoming. The bathroom was absolutely shocking. It was filthy, extremely dated and completely rundown. There was hair in the shower, the tap was dirty, and the whole bathroom looked like it desperately needed a deep clean and refurbishment. To make matters worse, we were so concerned about the cleanliness of the water that we ended up using bottled water to clean our teeth. That is absolutely ridiculous and certainly not something you expect when paying to stay in a hotel. The outside of the building is just as bad. There has been scaffolding surrounding the building for over 12 months, which makes the whole property look like a permanent building site. The condition of the exterior adds to the overall feeling that this hotel has simply been neglected. And then there’s the rats in the car park. Seeing rats around the car park is completely unacceptable and certainly doesn’t give you any confidence about the cleanliness or upkeep of the property. I completely understand that Travelodge is a budget hotel and nobody expects luxury. But being a budget hotel should never be an excuse for poor cleanliness, filthy bathrooms, cigarette smells, pests and a property that is clearly in desperate need of investment. This hotel feels tired, neglected, dirty and seriously rundown. Travelodge needs to take a long, hard look at this property because the standards here are simply not acceptable. This was genuinely one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We left feeling extremely disappointed and disgusted that we had paid to stay somewhere in this condition. Travelodge Reading Central desperately needs a deep clean, pest control, proper maintenance and a complete refurbishment. Absolutely horrendous. We certainly won’t be returning, and I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

Good location, but very close to a major road. Building currently covered in scaffolding so quite dim inside. Room very basic, bed adequate but certainly not luxury. No AC. Bathroom shabby, no soap in shower. No luggage storage, unappealing lobby. It was cheap which was the only redeeming feature.
