Upon arriving at the Hotel the check in was pleasant and we where advised that although breakfast the following morning would be between 7am to 10am, it would be better to arrive later as there was a big party leaving the Hotel early in the morning. We duly arrived in the restaurant at 9.15am and were greeted with utter carnage !!! It was mobbed, not a table to be had and when one did come available it was literally full of detritus with only one severely overworked young man trying to clear the decks. There was no food available, as soon as it was being served up it was being hoovered up by the frustrated, hungry hoards of diners waiting to be fed. There was no plates, no cutlery, no food, no drink, no tables being cleared and nowhere to sit anyway. I stay in Hotels all over the world, I have never seen such rank inefficiency ever ! At this point it is vital that I single out the three youngsters who were working their socks off to keep the snarling masses at bay. They were polite, patient and courteous at all times and I applaud them. Come on guys get your act together, you know how many folk are staying in the hotel and you know what time they are going to turn up. None of us will be coming back.

The Abbey is a very lovely hotel, set in beautiful surroundings. It’s clean and inviting. The bedrooms are spacious and I have to say the bed is the most comfortable that I’ve slept in at a hotel and believe me I’ve stayed at numerous hotels across the world. The staff are welcoming, polite and professional. They’re very accommodating. I would definitely stay there again.

From start to finish this place was fantastic! Food, service, decor were brilliant! A hidden gem for sure!! The rooms have very recently been refurbished - spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Staff were friendly and took care of everything. Good breakfast selection. The setting is absolutely amazing. Sipping a drink in the sunshine looking over the grounds and then being able to take a walk into the woodland was amazing.

We stayed here is my wife’s parents are now in an old folks home very near to the hotel. We stayed in one of the double rooms, which is true to the photos you see on this site. The room and bathroom are both done out very well and this place is great for a stay of a few nights. The bed is comfortable, although quite a high to get into, double wardrobe with hanging space and plenty of tea and coffee with the kettle etc. A major selling point is Ali, who is a family member of the hotel owners. He could not have been more helpful. Unfortunately, I have to use a walking stick and Ali would not hear of us carrying our cases up or down the stairs, even coming out to the car park to collect things for us. As we live in Spain, we will be using this place every time we return to the UK to visit my wife’s parents.
