I hesitated to give the hotel a review and thought it may have been a one-off but decided to write about our experience for the sake of other travelers. For context, my husband is a Marriott lifetime platinum and we have certain expectations when staying at a Marriott chain hotel. The Renaissance Reno is equivalent in our mind to a Marriott hotel but it failed to deliver the same quality during our stay. The positive: the hotel has been renovated with its unique style and the lobby is stunning. Our room was spacious, comfortable and updated The negative: There were 2 front desks in the lobby on each side of the entrance and it was confusing where to go for the check-in. Considering that my husband is a loyal Marriott member, the staff helping us seemed curt and did not make us feel special. Since it was a Sunday and we were told that the member's lounge was closed. We could still enter it and there were dirty dishes sitting on the counter and it felt unwelcome. Breakfast at the lounge the next few days was mediocre, so were the afternoon appetizers. This applies to service as well as quality of the food and available options. The worst offender has to be the internet TV. This trip was for us to relax, stay in and catch up on some movie watching. It was the worst experience ever! It took us about 5 hours to watch a 2.5 hour-movie. We thought it was just an a one-time problem but it happened to any movie on any internet channel. This is no exaggeration: the movie would freeze every minute which we got used to, but then it would freeze long enough to display an error, at which point you have to start over from beginning and fast-forward to where it was left off. Lastly, we did not mind paying the $15 self parking but started to notice there were outside people not staying at the hotel parking for free.

Earlier I posted a negative review if the Atlantis Hotel & Resort. Same day, few hours later, went to Silver legacy.I found this ****** must looser than Atlantis! If I return to Reno, I will avoid Atlantis and spend more time and money in the Silver Legacy. I found the El Dorado had tight slots too! No recommendation there!
Motel 6-Reno, NV - West

None of the employees were wearing masks like they are supposed to be, that was an unpleasant surprise at check in. The room was supposed to be non-smoking, but reeked of fresh cigarette smoke. The bathroom door hinges were coming loose, making the door very difficult to shut and open. The sink wouldn't drain. The floor was grimy and the AC unit appeared to have lots of food crumbs in it. The spot in front of the room was occupied by an abandoned vehicle (no plates), so that's nice. Safety issue. The door handle latch and deadbolt did not like to latch in the low morning temperatures, I basically had to throw my whole weight on it to get it locked. Then having assured it was locked when I left in the morning, the door was unlocked/unlatched when I returned, meaning someone who works there went in while I wasn't there and didn't make sure the door latch caught. If it was housekeeping they sure didn't tidy anything, or get the sink to work... Lest anyone think I am just too picky, I have stayed at other Motel 6 locations without having a bunch of problems to report. The microwave and fridge were clean, the sheets looked clean. The front desk lady was kind when I needed a new keycard.

I’ve been driving over 10 hours. Tired. Pulled in with a pickup and a 20’ cargo trailer. My length overall was around 46’. This is the first Motel 6 I’ve ever been to w/o some sort of oversized parking. I’m told I have to park on the street. Tell them I’ll just break it down into two units to park in the lot. Get an okay. As I’m backing my trailer up into a spot, the woman who checked me in comes out with some guy to tell me as I’d end up blocking another spot I can park here and I have to go out on the street around the corner. Mind you this place is NOT busy (I can tell by it being a weeknight, a half filled lot, and 8pm. As I again circle the lot, I see numerous vehicles, just by not parking straight, effectively taking up two spots. Walked back into the office after leaving my vehicles on the street instead of a fenced in lot and asked the guy at the desk if he was now going to police the lot for all the bad parking jobs. He said they would. I call bullpucky here. I hate petty little tyrants. I’ve been staying in Motel 6’s literally for decades. I’ve said in some very nice ones, and some sketchy ones. But I’ve never before had the staff at any of them needlessly bust my stones. Facility itself is fine. These staff members (June 14) need an education in customer service.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Reno Airport

We stayed here while driving US-50 through northern Nevada. The hotel is very close to the airport, but we had no trouble sleeping due to noise or anything like that. Location is also good for restaurants and other services, and it's easily accessed from the Interstate. Hotel was good too; service was friendly and competent. Rooms were comfortable and modern; beds were fresh and sleep was good; bathroom was clean and the appliances worked well; and the Wifi worked well too.
Element Reno Experience District

South Reno
The hotel is a mid-range hotel in westin. The room is very new and relatively large. The location is in a better area of Reno City. The bed was very comfortable. Some reviews said it was noisy, maybe because the windows were not closed tightly. The public area on the first floor is relatively large. The gym facilities are okay and the breakfast is also good.
