The service was excellent, the rooms were clean, the breakfast was good, and parking was convenient.

Pros Clean laundry is available Toilets are separate from showers so when you have to pee in the morning you aren't waiting for people to finish as shower. I wasn't aware of any waits for either toilets or showers. Plugs for / by each bed Nice towels,pillows duvets etc Good internet for what we needed Window opens to cool the room off well. Cons Missing kitchen stuff - ie they don't have can openers, spatulas or hot pads to grab hot pots or hand towels to dry dishes. The room is cramped/tight Have to pay for bedding, it isnt included Laundry is pricy 1500 for wash another 1500 to dry. Not sure I'd go back even if it was the best deal... depends on how much extra the next place to stay was.

Very basic and small room totally overpriced for what it is. The ration guests/bathrooms is very poor. The kitchen is well equipped but it is small as well as the dining room Despite the amount of people, the place is clean

Bare bones Hostel, which is overpriced for its standard because it has a virtual monopoly on being the only ‘cheap’ accommodation in the area. Unless you are camping at Hild which is cheaper. I booked direct with bedding as an extra which was just over £49 for one night. Had to go to the separate Hild reception building to book in & pay on arrival where you get your key to the room & you get given your bed number. I wasn’t keen on the bed configuration here, no dividers, so if you happen to be tall you may end up brushing feet with the person sleeping at the other end. Personally, I wasn’t keen on the central ladders to the bunks either, as you could easily be disturbed or disturb somebody else who is sleeping. The kitchen is basic but functional. The showers look as if they have been relatively recently updated. But you have 13 rooms of 4 bunks = 52 people and only four showers. Good job I was up at 5am, otherwise there may have been a queue for them. There was a slight smell of sulphur using the hot water, not a problem, it wasn’t overpowering. Eating area is pretty cool to be fair with its view of the lava field. Check in is between 5-8pm only.

Ottima soluzione per visitare la zona del Lago Myvatn, dove non ci sono molte strutture ricettive. Dopo notti in tenda (sconsigliata causa pioggia e vento) decidiamo all'ultimo di prenotare questo ostello per due notti. Camera da 4 letti piccola ma silenziosa. Bagni puliti, cucina ben attrezzata e area per mangiare con affaccio sul terreno lavico. Consigliato.
