Matina Pefkos Aparthotel

This was our second time visiting the hotel and it didn’t disappoint. The hotel is ideally situated as five mins from the beach and other bars and restaurants. We arrived around 2am and check in was quick and simple, we even managed to have a couple of beers in the bar before we went up to our rooms. Rooms are clean and spacious although they feel very dated and could do with a bit of a revamp but as we don’t spend that much time in the rooms it wasn’t an issue but would like to see them updated as looking very tired. Pools are lovely and clean, we spent most of the time round the quieter pool, didn’t have to get up early to reserve a bed as there was plenty available throughout the day. We booked half board, breakfast was a little bit of a let down, could do with a bit more of a selection and the cooked food hotter as was luke warm. Love bacon when on hols but couldn’t eat it here as a little undercooked for my taste as like it crispy. Evening meal was amazing, so much to choose from on the menu, although there was a couple of items which had an additional charge, however it was minimal so didn’t mind too much. The staff in the restaurant are so lovely, always happy to have a chat and a joke with us and they work so hard to make sure everything is to your liking. The bar area is lovely, never waiting long to be served and was always told to sit down as they would bring the drinks over. As soon as you have an empty glass they are back over to see if you want anything else. Again staff are amazing in here, they work so hard but always have the time to have a chat and a laugh with us. They play various different sports on the tv’s around the bar but also play loads of great music which gives it a great vibe. There was a couple of live singers on a few nights and we loved it, everyone was singing and getting up to have a dance. All in all this hotel is fabulous, the staff (sorry not good with names) definitely make this place what it is and makes you feel so welcome, we are now looking at coming back next year, can’t wait.

Did quite abit of research into where to go & where to stay for our holiday-likely our last as a family as with two older teenagers they won’t want to holiday with their boring parents anymore! Decided on the Matina & happy to say we made a really good choice. Accommodation - as others have said, it’s basic (but what more do you need? Air con free of charge as part of jet2 package & good Wi-Fi) Big rooms, nice & clean . Maid service excellent. One of our rooms was 520 - can’t recommend it enough, didn’t have a balcony-it’s a terrace which was massive & a sea view as well. Pool areas-really enjoyed sitting by the pool, plenty of sun loungers & a nice peaceful vibe. Food - stayed half board (never done this before but it seemed good value & avoided the arguments on where to eat) breakfast was pretty good but the biggest plus is you get to eat in the Meltemi restaurant on a night - fantastic food & service. Had abit of lunch a couple of days in the pool bar & this was good also & reasonably priced. Staff - everyone really friendly & nothing was too much trouble 10 out of 10. Location - 2 min walk to the beach, 6 min walk upto the town if you wanted to (plenty of bar’s & restaurants within a couple of mins walk if you didn’t want to walk into town). Fantastic - save paying beach sun lounger prices, we walked from the pool with just a towel & went swimming in the sea, then came back to the pool. Overall-we had a great holiday & glad we chose the Matina. Do your research before hand to make sure it’s what your are looking for & if it is, you won’t be disappointed.

Our family of four stayed at Matina this July. We were happy to have a really nice room with garden/sea view. The room was clean and spacious and kitchenette had everything we needed for partial selfcatering (microwave and toaster etc.). The two pools were really good for small kids and adults and there's also separate pool for toddlers. One of the best things was the location next to the beach and several nice restaurants. Also the hotel's own Meltemi restaurant and Matina snack bar had really good food and excellent service. Meltemi also catered really well our kids with special diets, which we are really greatful for. Airport service and on-site ABC supermarket were reasonably priced. At Matina you have everything you need for a good holiday close by.

Have been travelling to Pefkos for quite a few years but always stayed at different accommodation so this was the first time at the Matina and it did not disappoint. Perfect location, short walk from the beach and pubs and restaurants, with a lovely restaurant on site Meltemi and Peoples Bar/Matina Bar and two fab pools with plenty of sun beds. Staff were always friendly around the complex and on the first morning when our toaster did not work a quick call and we received a new one. We felt so relaxed during our 11 nights that we’ve booked again for next year. The apartments some would say need a bit of an update but to be honest we found them fine with everything we needed in the kitchen area and having a table and chairs was good. The bathroom was fine, the only thing I’d say is the shower is stuck on the wall at an odd angle to use properly and the shower curtains need replacing with maybe a screen but apart from that we had no issues. The beds were comfy and there was enough clothes space. I would recommend this complex, its basic compared to the odd few but is adequate enough for what you need.

Fourth visits to Matina, but we haven’t been in 7 years. Last week of the season and although the resort was very quiet (a ghost town), the Marina apartments kept going until November 5th. The upgrades to the room amenities are good - we were in a 1 bed - and well appreciated. A few more glasses, iron and board in the rooms wouldn’t go a miss for the new season. The staff are superb, even in their final week of a long season they are still smiling. The meltimi restaurant is excellent and good value. Would highly recommend

Repeat visit. Friendly. Great clean communal facilities, lovely pools, restaurant, shop. Fabulous location. Rooms are starting to look tired, kitchen and bathroom areas in particular are getting grubby.

Comfortable and spacious one bedroom apartment. Well worth the upgrade for 3 people. Super friendly staff. High standards of cleanliness and great options for food and drinks. Location is superb. We mainly ate out due to the wide range on the doorstep however we had 3 lovely breakfasts and a couple of lunches. If you were to ask me for anything negative I would say their tsatziki is a bit bland. Will be back in a flash.

Just finished a fantastic week at the Marina Pefkos, there were 7 of us in 3 separate rooms. All rooms were basic, but perfectly fine, beds comfortable and a small kitchen area to cook a bit of breakfast etc. Bathrooms were a little dated and are probably due a refresh. 2 pools - both on the chilly side but it is October. Spotlessly clean. Hotel is perfectly located for access to the beach and the bars / restaurants. Big shout out to the staff - everyone very friendly and give the whole place a welcoming family feel. We were blessed with 7 days of sunshine - would definitely return .
