Upon check in I was assigned a room. After learning that I hadn’t been there before, the employee suddenly said she realized she had made a mistake and put us in the wrong room, so she had to re-issue my keys and switch rooms. No big deal, I figured. After looking at a hotel map, however, I realized we were initially in a river view room but after the change, we now had a parking lot view. Not a big deal in the grand scheme, but it was just very odd that nothing had changed over this brief period of checking in besides me stating I hadn’t stayed with them before, when suddenly my room assignment had to be changed.
