Versante Hotel

Richmond|2.84km from city center
(My name is anonymized to protect my identity for this review) This review was delayed due to an ongoing police investigation about our stay here in the Versante Hotel. My wife and I booked our stay at the Versante hotel, originally from Monday, August 29th until Saturday, August 3rd. We booked the penthouse suite on the 14th floor and loved it so much that we cancelled our reservations at the Fairmont hotel, just so we can extend our stay before we go to the airport for our family trip on the 6th. What we thought was going to be one of the most relaxing stays through our hotel experience quickly turned into a nightmare at the Versante hotel. It was a betrayal of trust from the Versante hotel staff and what Versante portrayed their company’s values to be. I would like to mention there were a few notable staff members that were exceptional and compassionate, and it’s a shame that this experience would reflect poorly on the hard working individuals who really tried to make our stay memorable. What had occurred in your hotel with the staff members that you hired to take care of your guests was unbelievably heartbreaking and I do not wish for anyone to go through what my wife and I had to witness.  On Tuesday, August 30th we booked for a hot stone massage at Spa Versante and confirmed our booking for a shuttle the next day at 3:45PM. Manager Yasin was the one who had confirmed our shuttle booking for the spa the next day at 3:45PM. On Wednesday, August 31st at 315PM we received a call from our hotel room (1404) from Nini, the front desk receptionist. Nini asked to confirm if we had booked a shuttle for 330PM. We then told her it was confirmed for 345PM. She said OK and we hung up. At 345PM my wife went downstairs to meet the shuttle that we had booked the day before for my wife’s spa appointment. There was no shuttle. My wife asked the Valet who was there and he asked her for her name and said it was not ticketed. He then took my wife to the receptionist who was working at the front, named Nini, and asked about the shuttle booking. My wife informed her about her appointment at the spa and shuttle booking, which should have made it obvious to Nini that the booking was for the Versante Spa further away. Nini then told her there was no shuttle that goes to the spa and it only goes to YVR. Ultimately, Nini said my wife wasn’t booked for a shuttle. When my wife told her we had received a phone call from her (at 315PM) to confirm our shuttle, Nini had denied making any calls to our room. Nini then told my wife there wasn’t a shuttle coming and pointed at the door and told her to walk. Nini did not provide any help or resolution, she had dismissed my wife’s needs as a guest and failed to provide her with adequate information for her confirmed bookings at Versante Spa. It was only two girls working, Nini and Monica at front desk. Upon speaking in person with Nini, my wife recognized her voice on the phone. She had denied ever calling my room to confir

Hotel guest services is very poor upon arrival, only focussed on bus service to airport. Way to much valuable free time when no bus runs to airport, that could be sanitizing sitting areas. Very poor communication, information sheet of what the hotel has to offer is only at the front desk. Basically who ever deserves to know the services they offer. The service clerk put that blame on our facilitator, ” That was your facilitator that should have informed you, she had all your keys!” Like every hotel has all those informal sheets provided in all guest rooms. My facilitator is not your employee, she was a guest along with us. Stayed there for 6 days, they considered that a long period of stay and they do not service rooms unless requested. Upon my request was for fresh washcloths, the bed was made the full garbage bins were left and no fresh washcloths as requested. Service clerk turned into a joke and claimed she did not know what I was talking about and did not know what a washcloth was. The filthiest gym, after I had walked in, I really needed to do my exercises. That was my first and last. I was concerned of contracting a staph infection from that hotel. My dozen of eggs and all my vegetables and dip froze in the fridge, the manager said all he can do is offer me a free Breakfast. I replied no, the service on your busiest day the servers have no patience, And my dip alone cost the amount of a breakfast, I can not eat too much restaurant food because I get sick very easy! My vegetables I had provided and accommodate was meant for my lunch during my whole stay. For a very busy hotel I am sure that staff is well informed ahead of time to be mindfully prepared of the amount of guests to be expected for all service provided by hotel. Very poor at the baggage storage, provide tickets, no consistency with tickets, my belongings were seperated, had to return back to hotel to retrieve my belongings, manager claim no contact information or my contact number. Ridiculously EXPENSIVE hotel filled with poor services from front desk to restaurant. Food is very good !

Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel

When I came to this hotel, we had daily breakfast and the hotel provided snacks and red wine once a day. On the first day I entered the hotel, I went to the lobby to eat at 7:00 pm. There was a Hong Kong man named JOE at the front desk of the bar. He could speak Chinese because I do not speak English. Well, I use a translator to translate the menu. The restaurant is dimly lit and the translator is small, so I can't see it clearly, so I asked him what kind of dish it is. , I said I understand, but you can't ask me? My eyes kept staring at me, I said my eyes were a little flowery, he kept laughing and said it had nothing to do with him, so he laughed out loud at the bar, very insulting, mad at me, and then said, what you just ordered is Noodles You Chinese can't eat spaghetti noodles. After talking for a long time, I ordered red wine and he asked me if you can drink red wine? He also questioned my order, I said it was free, he immediately asked another waiter to confirm in front of me if I was eating for free, and after confirming loudly, he said that you can go to eat and then you will have to pay, he said I always discriminated against Chinese people, and I kept saying Chinese Chinese..., but when I turned back to talking to foreigners, my face was full of smiles, so I went out to the duty manager to complain, and the solution was to upgrade me to a room, I asked him to apologize, He didn't apologize, saying that they have human rights here, so I wrote another complaint letter to the general manager. I didn't want much, I just needed an apology. Is this too much? It’s been almost two weeks and I still haven’t received a reply. I was going to stay for 13 days and I checked out early after 3 days. Because of racial discrimination and not being taken seriously, I will continue to go to their headquarters to file a complaint. (Hong Kong has returned, I know some People in Hong Kong can't accept it, I really can't think of such a thing in a five-star hotel), I won't stay at the Sheraton Hotel, the hotel restaurant service is so racially discriminatory In addition: there is no problem with the work at the front desk and the service of the bellman. The air conditioner in the room is very loud. If the air conditioner is not turned on, the room will be quieter. I forgot a new hair dryer in the drawer, and the hotel didn't call me to say that I had forgotten it. This time in Canada, this hotel was really unhappy, especially unhappy, and I won't come to stay in the future.

Vancouver Airport Marriott Hotel

Stayed here one night before heading to the airport early the next morning. The location is great and did the job perfectly being only a 10 minute drive to the airport. There are also plenty of places to get food nearby, I’d highly recommend Thai House. The area around the hotel really feels like you’ve gone to Asia without having gone on a flight. From the outside the hotel looks like nothing special but it so much nicer inside. Parking was a bit of a headache as the additional multi story car park has no lifts but we eventually found a space outside the front entrance in the parking area there. We got upgraded to a one bed suite which was surprisingly nice. Something that may be an issue for others is that the bathroom is more like a hallway between the living area and bedroom which only has two sliding doors to close off. If someone is in the bathroom and you are in either room it’s a bit awkward. The rest of the suite was nice with a comfortable sofa, big tv and decent bed. The hotel was pretty quiet when we checked in and was not bad over night. The only noise was from the main road so I’d bring earplugs. The next morning when we went to check out it was super busy even at 6am as huge groups had just arrived with hundreds of suitcases! If we had been staying more than one night I’d have checked out the pool but we did not have time. All in all it was a good stay and did the job perfectly.

On Sept 15, I attended the Pink Floyd Roger Waters concert downtown and stayed in my most favorite room, there jacuzzi loft suite for 2 very relaxing nights. The first night me and a buddy went to Moxies for a quick pasta dinner before heading to the concert. We used Uber to Roger's arena and back to the hotel at nights end, I was amazed how inexpensive both trips were from and back to the hotel, $25 each direction, can't beat that!!! The hotel is very centrally located to anywhere you need to go especially if using Uber or Lyft. The second Night my girlfriend joined me in the room and we did absolutely nothing except request a late checkout for the following checkout day, and we sat in the jacuzzi all afternoon and night while ordering take out from there on-site restaurant, Moxies. This room has everything you need and more, when I stay in this room, I try to make sure there is no reason to leave. For those who have not experienced there jacuzzi loft suite, it is highly recommended to put on your bucket list for your next staycation. Jake was my check in agent whom was very professional, outgoing, great at what he does, and I would definitely have him manage my reservation anytime from making the reservation all the way to checkout, great job Jake!! The front desk Staff was very approachable at all times and they all deserve recognition as you can tell by watching them that they work as a team. Another staycation in the books!! Thank you Sandman YVR once again!!!

Panda Pod Hotel

Richmond|0.46km from Richmond Center
Ah, the Panda Pod Hotel! Marketed as the first capsule hotel in the Greater Vancouver Area (GVA), this relatively new establishment seeks to provide “modern and affordable” accommodation in the GVA. The Panda Pod, which opened in late April 2019, takes its influence from the pod hotels of Asia. When you check in, you’re given access to a total of three lockers for your personal belongings: A shoe locker, a locker for your backpack (if you have one), and a locker for your carry-on baggage. The gracious Panda Pod staff will also store one piece of standard-sized luggage free of charge, but anything beyond that will cost a very reasonable $5 for each additional item. My journey to the Panda Pod was kind of interesting. I was gearing up for some business meetings in Vancouver and, as usual, was a bit late on the draw in booking a hotel room. All of my typical haunts were fully booked, so I tried other hotels in the GVA, including those in Burnaby, Coquitlam, North Vancouver, Vancouver-proper and Richmond. Everything was totally booked – including the crappy Richmond Travelodge (see my earlier review on this site) – except for a couple of the Fairmont properties. And given that we were still in Vancouver’s “summer” season, the rates at the Fairmont hotels were nothing short of outlandish (between $800 to $1200 PER NIGHT). Then it dawned on me: “Hey! I remember reading something about a pod hotel opening . . .” So, I looked up the Panda Pod and noted, 1) There was availability for the night I needed; and, 2) The rate was practically unbeatable @ $65 + tax. Really, when it comes to value for money, this is where the Panda Pod shines: If you’re looking for a clean, friendly and safe place to stay, you can’t beat these prices . . . especially during “summer” season rates. [Of course, I subsequently found out why virtually every hotel was booked. It just so happened that during my meetings, the UBCM was holding their annual conference AND Elton John was visiting Vancouver as part of his world tour. I’m sure it was just a coincidence that the UBCM was meeting at this time ;) ] In any event, I guess what I’m saying is as long as you know what the Panda Pod Hotel is then you should be most satisfied with what you get: It’s not a hotel in the traditional sense; that is, you don’t get a private room, nor is there an on-site restaurant. Thanks to the unique pod structure you get what are essentially shared accommodations, split by gender (male and female). Each individual pod has a fairly comfortable mattress to sleep on; a foldable “desk” (and I use that term generously); hooks to hang items like a coat or hat; and a pull-down screen over the pod entrance for privacy. The hotel also features a shared lounge (with vending machine), washroom facilities and showers. In short, the Panda Pod isn’t fancy, but it’s cozy and functional. I appreciate that they don’t gouge your wallet here, unlike pretty much every other accommodation in the GVA. I should bri

Versante Hotel

Richmond|0.88km from Vancouver Airport Designer Outlet

The landlord is Chinese, easy to communicate, and early is also very good. It is especially suitable for self-driving tour, because it is very convenient to go to the local Chinese Tuanhua supermarket, only about 5 kilometers, where there is free parking, and affordable seafood, the supermarket also helps you process, is the best experience to travel to Vancouver. Free parking is available outside this homestay. The hostess’s hospitality and hearty breakfast are worthy of praise!

The Westin Wall Centre, Vancouver Airport

The hotel is clean and tidy, and the attitude of the staff is very good. My English is not very good. I met a very good Chinese-speaking lady who helped me print documents and book a car. She also told me what software can be used for Chinese food delivery, fast food around, and daily As expected, there are Chinese supermarkets and Italian restaurants, which are very convenient. If you are willing to walk, it is also close to the Chinese district. There are many Chinese restaurants, and it is also very close to the airport. It is a good recommendation for transiting from Vancouver. Five-star recommendation!

We stayed there this summer and it was amazing! the service was great! room was clean and comfortable! But what made it for us is that we were on our way home from our honeymoon and Saksham, upon hearing this upgraded us to the penthouse suite for no extra charge and it really was the cherry on top of the ice cream for us for our honeymoon and really topped up our trip in an amazing way! so thank you so much to him for that!
