I had an amazing stay at South Gap Hotel. Zero complaints. The hotel is nice and modern. All the rooms have a breathtaking view of the ocean and the pool deck. The rooms also have a kitchenette and a full size refrigerator which is convenient. My room was cleaned daily and replenished with toiletries and new towels. The staff is very nice, helpful, and accommodating even prior to my trip as I had a few special requests. The hotel staff also assisted with airport transportation. The restaurant located on the lower level of the hotel wasn’t like your typical hotel restaurant. It was very good and the drinks were great. Although it isn’t an all inclusive, the food is very affordable. The hotel also provides a voucher for a welcome drink and a 10% off voucher for dinner nightly which can also be used at their sister restaurant a short distance away. The hotel is located in the heart of numerous restaurants and bars. The beach is also a short walk from the hotel. The hotel met all my expectations.

Can't beat the location. Views from the balcony was stunning. Clean, safe, no frills. Staff were really really nice and helpful. What a great start to my holidays. Oh, and not too far from Oistens Fish Fry.

I had a lovely 10 night stay here in room 19, inside the grounds few seconds from the pool. The room had modern interior, very clean and had all the necessities (mini kitchen, safety deposit box, AC in the bedroom and ceiling fans) I felt safe staying here as a solo female traveller, it’s close to Holetown just a 10-12mins walk. Sandra’s food van is also close by on Sandy Lane. Easy transport links to other areas of Barbados. This resort was clean and the pool was well kept. The staff are extremely friendly and deliver great customer service, shout out to my two favourite bar staff who are great fun and make delicious cocktails “Tristan and Zach” these two made my evenings! I would come back just because of the staff! Linda, Kelly, Maria (assistant manager), Maryvn, Ashanti! All the staff here will help you enjoy your stay. The only thing that needs to be addressed is the food. There are limited food options and the menu must be revised to offer local Bajan food (fish cakes, macaroni pie, rice and peas, fish, baked/fried chicken) and typical holiday food (chicken wings, chicken *****s, nibbles etc)

Firstly, - I LOVE ‘The Bougie’ (as my friends and I that have regularly stayed there fondly call it!) HOWEVER, I just returned (to the UK) a few weeks ago after a 2-Month stay there, where I was COMPLETELY disappointed and dismayed by the Hotels’ approach to the Sargassum Sea**** that blights the entire Caribbean at this time of year! For those that have not experienced it, it can pile-up to over 60cm+ in the blink of an eye, and (obviously) while the Hotel has NO control whatsoever over what happens in the sea, it took WEEKS, and a ‘biting’ email from myself to their Operations Manager, before ANYTHING was done about the rotting, stinking **** that had washed-up on the usually stunning white talcum-powder sands of its beach, - at one point within 20m of the hotel’s (overly-expensive for what is on offer I might add) beachside restaurant! To rub salt into the wound, the other two hotels on the same stretch of beach, (Turtle Beach & Sandals) cleared theirs diligently and constantly EVERY DAY, as they obviously took on board that the reason we pay the (increasingly) high costs to visit their island, is to experience exactly these unparalleled gems of nature (sand and sea) and don’t want to wade through disgusting-smelling, noxious-fumed, knee-high ****, in order to enter the bath-temperature waters! My email to their OM was replied to with a completely lame excuse, (something about turtles, yawn!) which, having once owned a house there myself and having visited the island 36 times, and still owning a 3-month timeshare there at the Crane, was regarded by myself as simply puerile and a sad attempt, that may have fooled and fobbed-off somebody on their first visit to the island, but simply served to further irritate me as I had a daily visual and nasal reminder of the tens of thousands of pounds that my holiday had cost me, that I felt was very much taken for granted. To this end, and with less than a week of my 8-week holiday left, they started to clear the awful stinking ****. Although not my idea of a typical tropical paradise holiday pastime, I hope my email ‘intervention’ enabled some other peoples’ holidays to be more pleasant!! (Incidentally, - I also personally TWICE cleared channels through the **** to allow guests access to the sea, using only my FEET and HANDS to do so, as I was refused the use of a gardening rake by their gardeners to do so!) Bad show Bougainvillea!

We stayed at Time Out Hotel from 20/11 for 2 weeks. Reviews were quite mixed, however we had no reason to worry at all. We booked a pool view room as reviews had stated this was a bit quieter than rooms by the bar. We arrived at the hotel about 2pm and our room wasn't ready, so we put our case in the luggage room got changed and went to the pool. Our room 317 was ready by 4pm and had a lovely pool view. Our room was immaculately clean , bright, 2 comfortable queen beds, plenty of storage, great bathroom with walk in shower, fridge, tea and coffee and great AC. Great balcony which was always in the shade. You could hear some noise from the bar, however the music wasn't on late and it didn't disturb us at all. We found the staff at the hotel to be very helpful and friendly. Pool area was great and no problem getting a bed. Pool towels were an added bonus. As you come out of the hotel Dover beach is just over the road which was lovely. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. We loved everywhere that we ate, food was gorgeous and of course fresh fish amazing. We would definitely stay here again.

We booked the Hilton Resort as it was ranked highly, however it was not to our expectations. Firstly I will start off by giving full credit to the hardworking staff who worked very hard with the limited resources they have and tried their very best to make the stay comfortable for customers. The staff at the entrance meeting / greeting, reception area, restaurants, pool area and house keeping service staff deserve full credit. I had to rate the stay as 2 out of 5 simply due to the management decisions. We found the following issues during our stay, as listed below: 1) We understand that nature produces sea ****s, and there is no control of sea ****s gathering on the beach perimeter with the waves. However, there was no process or maintenance in place to run a tractor every morning to gather the sea ****s and litter from the sand on a daily basis. You find other hotels in the Carribbean (my recent trip to St Lucia) where hotels maintain their beach area early hours in the morning ready for customers. This is supposed to be Hilton (a worldwide known brand). The beach standard was the biggest disappointment for us. 2) No variety of food on the menu. Some of the restaurants were closed due to the season. We actually got bored with the menu as it was the same things to eat and in my opinion very expensive. We saw other customers ordering take away from external restaurants, which was very surprising, maybe they felt the same. We also explored the option and found that more variety is available externally and the price of food is significantly less than what your hotel offers. We actually ordered pizza and snacks externally with delivery service and it worked out to be an excellent deal. 3) There was 3 of us (2 adults and 1 infant) and we were only offered 3 very small bottles of water to last us a day. We then requested for 6 large bottles of water and we were charged a rate of around 11 BBD each which equates to around £4.73, so in total we spent £28.38 on water!!! Water is a necessity of life and we were charged a silly amount, not forgetting the bottles we purchased during dinner. Sounds embarrassing but we should have purchased a multi pack of water bottles from Lidl or Tesco in the UK which would have cost us less than £10 and bought that with us in our check-in luggage. 4) There is something wrong with the lifts. There are a total of 4 lifts, and only 2 appear to work. It takes ages to wait for a lift. Again something small as this can become frustrating if you need to use the lift a few times a day. 5) The room Fridge door did not close properly as the gasket seemed to be worn. 6) No kettle in the room. We needed to boil some hot water. This is basic equipment expected in a hotel room. 7) No microwave available to heat food. If the hotel cannot provide a microwave in each room, then maybe the cost effective to install a couple of microwaves in the same room you offer self service ice to customers. The hotel is located on st Lawrence gap which has a few clubs and restaurants. It can get quite noisy at night. If you opt for the sea view apartment you are less likely to hear the club on the opposite side of the road. The room itself is great, there is a kitchen where you can cook your breakfast and make tea, a working tap, fridge, freezer, kettle, microwave. The balcony and the view is lovely. Woke up each morning looking out onto the blue water and blue skies! I went with my friend and so we had a double bed each which is very comfortable. The shower is a bit slow with water but if you run it for 3-4 minutes the water will get warm. We didn’t opt for the breakfast so cannot comment on what the food is like. Overall positive, my only complaint is beware when ordering taxi they quote in US dollars and not Barbadian dollars. The female receptionist misled me despite me asking her twice is the price quoted Barbadian dollar and she said yes. Then when we finished the taxi ride we were told it was in US dollar and not Barbadian dollars. I think that is a fundamental error by the receptionist and cost me unnecessarily. For that the hotel did not deserve a 5 star. In terms of location it is good but expect noise as you are directly opposite a nightclub called halo that is very noisy at the weekends especially the dj and his microphone shouting into it. The island is very small so everything is not far. It is worth hiring a car to get around the island otherwise the taxi fare will be expensive. A taxi fare from at Lawrence gap to the north of the island would cost you 120 Barbadian dollars one way. The hotel has a nice outdoor swimming pool and private chill out area and a restaurant to order drinks. Would I stay here again? Yes I think i would stay here again.

I'm not sure why this hotel gets such terrible reviews. We thought it was brilliant! The staff were always friendly towards us. The room was clean and tidy (and cleaned daily during our stay) with plenty of wardrobe space and drawers. The shower was hot and powerful at all times and the bathroom had toiletries and a hairdryer. Our room was in a quiet block within the hotel complex and we rarely heard a sound from other rooms. The pool looked lovely although we didn't swim in it because they had sun beds up on a raised part of the the pool which overlooked a stunning beach and the sea. There's a little cut-through to the beach at the end of the pool area and there was always plenty of beds available around the pool. The bar was great - they had some good snacks available and twice daily happy hour for drinks. And the hotel was close to a number of bars and restaurants and about a 20 minute walk to the Gap. My only small issue was that the hotel charged for the use of the room safe. It was only 3 Barbados dollars per day, but still I don't think guests should have to pay for a safe in this day and age. We stayed for seven nights at The Dover Beach Hotel and won't hesitate to stay again when we return to Barbados in the future. Thank you for a fantastic holiday.
