Wyndham grand rio mar is the best place in Puerto Rico! Top notch service, excellent food, great service and beautiful beach and pools. Close to ferry, fajardo and luquillo.This is my second time there an I would return.

Located in Luquillo (Mata de Plátano), Fairfield by Marriott Luquillo Beach is within a 10-minute drive of Luquillo Beach and Carabali Rainforest Park. This beach hotel is 7.1 mi (11.4 km) from El Yunque National Forest and 5.1 mi (8.2 km) from Wyndham Rio Mar Golf Course.Head straight for the casino, or wait for that lucky feeling while you enjoy one of the other recreational opportunities, such as an outdoor pool and a 24-hour fitness center. It is the first time we have visited the hotel and there is no doubt that we will return. We went with our children under 10 years old and the grandmothers. I use mobility equipment and we ALL had accessibility for enjoyment. The facilities and activity options: swimming pool, the Pterocarpus forest, children's park and the bonfire at night were excellent and the food was delicious. The buffet at Trova delicious. Also lunch food in the pool area. The BEST thing about the entire experience was the service and staff at the hotel. Everyone treated us in an extremely special way. Xiomar and Carlos Serrano provided us with transportation and when we asked what could be done with the wheelchair they both said don't worry, we'll find a way and so they did. Thanks to that, I was able to explore the forest with my family! Kelvin Sanchez at Trova served us both mornings at breakfast with excellent kindness. I couldn't see Bryan at Guest Services but he answered all my questions over the phone. Gabriela greeted us at the front desk and from the moment we arrived she made us feel special and although I couldn't capture the names of the others, everyone literally went out of their way to provide good service. I share that the hotel is Cashless so you must bring cash to be able to tip. A suggestion would be to have more campfire smores boxes for sale since they are free but the quantity is limited and only for children. If they don't arrive early and run out it would be nice to have the option to buy.

We booked 3 nights, for almost 200$ each. Aside from the pool, the hotel offered no service. Starting with the room: outdated, no soap in the bathroom, and very loud disfunctioning AC (basically we couldn’t sleep because of the noise, it was like having a truck in the room). Then the location is really in the middle of nowhere: there is literally nothing to do in that area. With that, you’d think the hotel would have some service offering. None ! We asked for the AC to be fixed : it wasn’t fixed (we were told they are old and it’s normal they make that much noise).The restaurant in the hotel opens at 11am, and closes at 7pm, so it can basically offer lunch, which is probably the one meal you would eat outside if you were visiting the region. So the restaurant was useless. We had to pay for ice!!! We asked if the hotel had some partners for activities around, they told us they don’t know and gave us a list of phone numbers we needed to call ourselves with no information on the activities. They refused to call a taxi for us, and gave us phone numbers, again. On our last day, we asked them if we could leave our luggage and come pick them up at 2, they said they don’t do that, we had to insist for them to accept! We couldn’t believe that such a simple and common request would be rejected in a hotel nowadays. Just avoid this hotel, mirror screens and no service whatsoever.

Arrival: Staff member at gate could not identify me by name but eventually was able to confirm I was a guest when providing confirmation number of my booking. Staff at the entrance of the hotel extended a warm welcome. Ambassador Bonvoy recognition: upgrade to a larger corner room. 2pm late check out request honored. Continental breakfast buffet only - the only St Regis property I have stayed at that doesn't extend the full buffet as part of the elite breakfast benefit. Room was large and spacious with a tranquil outdoor patio area that unfortunately was impacted due to the loud construction noise from new buildings being erected on site. Thankfully the room had very good soundproofing so while the outdoor area couldn't really be used during the day, at least the interruptions weren't a problem when indoors. Good space for work or dining though a lack of chairs for relaxation especially given the outdoor area was off limits due to drilling. Loved the massive bathroom space. The spa area is lovely and the staff are very nice. I had booked a fairly expensive spa package well in advance and arrived half an hour early for it. Upon arrival I was told that the two nail treatments I had booked would not be happening. I understand that stuff happens but they had almost the entire morning to contact me about it. They extended a discount for service recovery, which was a nice gesture for the inconvenience and were flexible about adjusting the remaining treatments so I could maximize preferences. I ordered food and drinks at the bar. I didn't have a reservation and even though I just planned on being quick and arrived before opening, I was not permitted to sit at any of the tables (all reserved) and could only sit at the bar or outside. I found sitting outside with food to be fairly stressful with the opportunist birds that you have to keep watch out for so I preferred to be inside. By the time I left only 2 or 3 tables were occupied. It seemed silly to refuse to seat someone who was going to be quick because tables were booked for later. The food was surprisingly tasteless given how much oil appeared to be in it. The bar tenders were consistently helpful and the service was excellent. Overall a nice property with some imperfections that probably aren't material to management because they are crazy busy with enough guests as it is.
