While the hotel staff were decent, the entire hotel experience infuriated me.
1. For over 1600 RMB a night, I expected a comfortable and new room, but it was actually tiny and dated. It wasn't even as clean or spacious as the Wyndham I stayed at in Guatemala City! It was so cramped I couldn't even find a spot to do my makeup!! 700 RMB would have been more than enough! How dare they charge over 1600 RMB a night!!!!
2. What's most infuriating is that when I tried to check out two days early and modify my booking, they flat-out refused, not refunding a single penny! The hotel I stayed at in Miami changed my booking without a fuss! Americans are so straightforward and accommodating! This dump of a hotel absolutely refused to refund my money!! They just sat on over 3000 RMB for two nights and wouldn't return it! Are they really that starved for cash!!!
3. The hotel is just a residential building crammed between other structures.
4. Checking in was a nightmare! There were three desks, and it was impossible to tell which one was for check-in and which for check-out!!! The long lines of people were incredibly frustrating!!
5. The most infuriating thing is still their no-refund policy! Seriously, everyone, do NOT overbook!! However, if you try to book day-by-day, you might not find a room! Rio is beautiful, but also incredibly annoying – where do all these European tourists come from? It's suffocatingly crowded! They'd better refund me the 3000 RMB for those two nights!
6. The shower water pressure was just okay, nothing strong.
