Hampton Inn Rock Springs

Rock Springs|3.83km from city center
Typically we love chains through Hilton and Hyatt, so when we needed to travel to see family and saw that a Hampton had 4+ stars on some travel review sites, we figured it was a safe bet. I’m traveling with two kids and my spouse and I just staying one night. We arrived about 4 and noticed the parking lot was covered in ice and mounds of snow and it was difficult to discern where parking spots were and so everyone was parked haphazardly. Because of this we pulled up to the door. Check in went smooth. We were greeted by Victoria, the manager on shift, and she was very nice and friendly. We got our room keys. Her check in and explain of amenities was very helpful, and we went back out to park closer to the elevator to access our room. We had no issues finding parking (this was at 4pm). Walking into the lobby was like a smack to the face of smoke. My small kids even commented on it. The second floor didn’t have the smoke smell but the carpets in the hallways and the room were quite dingy. When we got to the room the wind was taken from our sails. The smell was really overpowering-like a wet, musty smell I assume is from the air system in the room. We went to put some belongings into the drawers and there was dust with small bits of hair and other particles in the drawer bottoms. The linens and bathroom were clean. Some of the furniture had staining on the fabric or the particle board furniture was broken and dinged up. We left to visit with family and got back around 9 and there was not a spot to park in sight. Between people parking in the middle of the parking spots and the trucks that were parked horizontally taking up 4-5 stalls, there was nothing. There is no overflow lot. We circled for a while wondering what to do and eventually parked in the only open bay - reserved for Diamond members. I spoke with the front desk and they said we could stay in that spot because there was nothing else. My kids went to the pool and had fun, it’s open until 10. we noticed the toilet would not flush properly - you had to hold it down for a few minutes to let water run to clear it out the bowl. The shower head was adequate - not so strong it sprays your skin off but enough pressure for a good shower. Sleeping was rough. Unfortunately there was a loud family above us with lots of jumping and loud noises until about 11, that then started again at 7. That’s not the hotels fault, we have encountered that before. The beds seemed to have some divots in them but they weren’t the worse hotel mattress I’ve encountered in my 40 years. When we woke up the windows were frozen on the inside … then there were puddles of condensation all around the window. My son had a hat on the table near the air system that was soaked. The musty smell was much worse with the standing water. Breakfast was good - lots of places to sit and my kids enjoyed the waffles. We went swimming one more time and when I was loading items into the car, there were patro

Country West Motel of Rock Springs

Rock Springs|2.45km from city center
Traveling from Portland, Oregon to Rome, New York, with two small dogs. Pulling a car trailer with my daughter's Nissan Leaf on it. Had already driven 900 miles with few stops except at rest areas. Looked up motels in Rock Springs and found this gem. We were looking for inexpensive, as the trip itself would be fairly spendy in gas and extras. I always try to find little, out of the way places as I prefer them to the larger, more expensive corporate places. Not to say I don't like those as well, but in a different set of circumstances. This is yet another one to add to my ”best-known-out-of-the-way-places” to stay while on the road. Wondered about the dogs (the owner/manager has 4 or 5 large dogs, so this was NOT an issue for them, (and no extra charge). Also concerned about leaving the car out in the open on the trailer, Lynn (night manager) said also not an issue, showed me the best place to park it. All was good. The room---THE ROOM!! I was very impressed with the cleanliness, the decorations, the style, everything was just so wonderful! All western/cowboy themed with charming little extras...cowboy boots used as holders for faux flower arrangements, cowboy themed lamps, cowhide designed plush pillows. It was all perfect and the overall price plus tax just took it over the top. Very clean and inviting, the beds were so comfortable, the dresser, TV stand, microwave/coffee maker...all beautiful dark wood, very polished and very clean. I was so impressed with how it all came together and was perfectly decorated. They did mention how it had all been upgraded and I can see from first hand experience just what a terrific job they've done. Wanted to stay again on my way back from New York, but was on a deadline, so couldn't swing it. If you're EVER in need of a quiet, cute, inexpensive and clean place to stay in the area, I can't recommend the Country West Motel enough. You won't be disappointed!

Rock Springs|1.17km from city center
We decided to stay here because it stated something about newly renovated rooms. Ours was not. Where do I begin? Pros? Of course the price. And of course you get what you pay for. I’m assuming the owner checked us in and she and her son were extremely friendly. She told us about the breakfast included (chosen from a small menu when checking in & actually great choices!), but we cancelled our breakfast the next morning as we had to leave earlier than we anticipated and they served it between 8-9 AM. She said they deliver it to your room! Those pros are what’s difficult about my negative review. Cons? The room was definitely NOT one of the, “renovated” rooms. I had requested a first floor, non-smoking room which we were given. While the beds were comfortable, the room was so dated and shop worn it didn’t feel clean. We had 2 queen beds and one of the beds had a top sheet with a hole in it! When we entered the room, I immediately smelled cigarette smoke (I’m guessing it had or allows smoking - not sure). No light above the bathroom sink and the bathroom ceiling light and ceiling light in the kitchen area were very dull. It was hot out so we didn’t need to use the heater wall unit in the bathroom, but there are wires hanging out of it. Air conditioning worked excellent but again, some wires hanging out. Back of the bathroom door was disgusting and hadn’t been cleaned for a long time. As another reviewer said, I’m not sure if they are just starting out in the motel business and I hate to put a damper on this experience. However, if the owner sees this review, I’d look at some of the older rooms and inform people that they will be in a “non” renovated room. Some could say why we didn’t go back to the office and request another room. But we were just exhausted after a 9 1/2 hour drive and just wanted to sleep. I can tell you while the beds were ok, I didn’t have a good rest because of the above reasons.

We stayed at this hotel on our way home to Idaho from South Dakota. It was great, and way better than we expected! Everything was super clean and nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. I loved that the floors in the hotel rooms were vinyl, it is way cleaner than carpet!! Everything was just great. 10/10 will be back when passing through Wyoming.

We were in the process of helping our daughter move and after driving for 10 hours in a Uhaul, we were looking forward to a clean, comfortable & quiet room for an overnight stay. My Place was GREAT! Friendly gal at the front desk checked us in and immediately told us if there was anything we needed, to let her know & she’d bring it right up to our room. Very clean! We also had our “grand dog & cat” so we needed somewhere that would allow animals and they were pet friendly. Did not partake in breakfast so can’t comment on that but according to the info when we checked in, they would bring breakfast to your room! We travel from southern Nevada to Wisconsin every year and My Place will be our stop from now on!

After a long week in Colorado and back on the road to Washington, I was lucky enough to find a GOOD CLARION. When I pulled up after midnight I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pretty amazed at the comfort, cleanliness and the size of the lobby and hotel itself. My room was clean and my short stay was enjoyable. I didn't get a chance to checkout the breakfast area.

Clean room, nicely decorated, slept well great bed Superior in every way to other economy motels Stayed three nights and found it to be quiet Several restaurants within easy walking distance Our two Golden Retrievers were welcome-no charge Though it did not affect our stay, we suspect the desk clerk was a former checking clerk at the state penitentiary- the grimmest we have encountered Our room was second floor and carrying our belongings up a flight of stairs at our age was not pleasant. We stayed on the way to visiting family. The room was quite clean and everything worked well. The atmosphere is nice, kind of like a hotel from the 70s, but not outdated. The price is a little high, but could be because of location, or the extra effort to keep the place well kept. Near I-80
