Reviews of Berry Manor Inn

This is NOT a five star Bed & Breakfast. More like a 3 if I’m being generous. The reasons why one stays at Quaint B & B’s is for the hospitality, gourmet breakfast and accommodation , making guests feel like they’re in a home away from home. That wasn’t the case here. We Don’t mind paying higher price if the service, accommodation and food are great. We paid an average of $485 per night for 5 nights and that was not worth it. I booked room 2 based off my request to get a dark room that had window coverings due to my sensitivity to light. That didn’t work out since it was a room with a street light glaring in the window and paper thin shades. I was told the room had blinds in an email. Not so. The bed was very hard and lumpy which made our 5 nights stay uncomfortable. The website states it is a luxurious king. It’s actually two twins mattresses pushed together( NOT a true king) . When the owners son was on call ( most mornings) our room hardly got cleaned. But when Mary, the staff innkeeper was around our room was spotless. The bathroom we had wasn’t great. The shower-head is old & faucet dial is bent. The sink drips all night And the toilet doesn’t flush well and runs all night. The home is charming, but needs some love. The owners definitely did not make us feel like we were staying in a welcoming Inn. I felt uncomfortable asking for anything. We felt we should be able to get something to drink one very hot day after walking. So I asked for something other than water, hot coffee or hot tea to drink. Owners son said flat out NO, that’s it. Curt and walked away. The water wasn’t refilled consistently when he was around. No lemonade or soft drinks available to purchase or as a complimentary drink in the afternoon. They tout their pies, but honestly the pie was just okay. One day it was so terrible I literally spit it out into a napkin it was that bad. We truly felt uncomfortable around owners. They require you to eat breakfast from 8-9am. Who eats on vacation so early? 1 hour window is ridiculous. The library upstairs will only have coffee and hot water at 7:30am and no earlier. The Breakfast was mediocre at best. French toast was mushy, scrambled eggs basic. My husband doesn’t eat Eggs Benedict so he asked if he could have 2 eggs over medium and was told NO only scrambled eggs. Not accommodating at all. The only thing good about this Inn was Mary, one of the Innkeepers. She wasn’t the owner but she was more hospitable and accommodating than the actual owners were. To us, the owners were cutting corners and not as welcoming as we hoped.

Very nice property. We were exploring Maine in October to see the color and elected to stay here during our travels. Everything was great. Very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was very good. You'll love it.

This is my second time staying here and it was just as wonderful as the first time. I hope to come visit every year and stay at the Berry Manor. Everyone who works there is so nice and I love the rooms, they are decorated perfectly in a vintage style but still comfortable.

We’ve stayed at Berry Manor 3 times over past several years for our annual anniversary trip to Maine and the experience was always positive. This summer we had planned another visit but a family health emergency caused us to have to cancel the trip well within the 15 day stated policy. Unfortunately for me, the cancellation policy also required a 60 day notice if the reservation dates included the “lobster festival “. At the time the reservation was made there was no specific dates mentioned in the written cancellation policy and I was not aware that our dates overlapped with the “lobster festival “. I paid extra for our room rate to make sure we could cancel without penalty (as I do for every trip we take). My negative review is 100% related to the lack of understanding and willingness to work with us given our need to cancel. There was no effort to compromise or even offer a credit for a future stay. Our previous stays at Berry Manor were under the former owners who we really enjoyed getting to know and I’m certain they would have handled this situation differently in an effort to retain us as loyal customers. Prior to this poor experience I would tell all our friends about Rockland and Berry Manor. Now, I still tell our friends about Rockland but cannot recommend Berry Manor. Great example of how poor customer service and poor service recovery can harm a small business. We won’t be visiting Berry Manor again but I do hope they work on their customer relationships.

Beautiful Inn! The people were lovely and welcoming, the room was comfortable and the food was excellent. We look forward to returning.

The Barry Manor was nice enough to take us in after a bad experience in a hotel about cleanliness.I called them late last evening on the 3 of July. What a great experience that was The place is beautiful and clean. The staff was amazing.They are so generous with fresh baked pie,ice cream,coffee’s and teas in a beautiful Victorienne parlor for hungry guests at night. The next morning breakfast is served from 8 to 9 in an elegant dining room. Everything was perfect.I can’t wait to go back.The rooms are a lot better than in their website. I give them a five stars

This was oneof the best experiences we have had in a bed and breakfast! Everything was perfect, including the morning breakfasts and the xtra touch in the evening with pie and ice cream. Rooms are xtra large and comfy. Great location. We hope to return.

this is such a unique stay - it takes you back into time of how European royalty used to live. or maybe British royalty. but it is such an experience. i could touch history in this house. the bed in my room was so massive, and rich in color and draperies. it was saturated with royalty. i could spend hours on that bed and i felt so good on it. i just kept rolling around on it and it was so satisfying and pleasurable. i felt like a queen and a KING! i stayed in room 11. besides the bed, i would say the wallpaper was very comforting. they say darker colored rooms are the comfort food of design. and finally the pie that was available in the common fridge was to DIE for. I had both the cherry and blueberry pie slices and omg, what a savory moment it was. I wanna say the house itself is a beautiful victorian vibe. room 11 is in the carriage house which i felt to be a little stuffy. but the main house like I said, is so beautiful. and such a delight to the senses and treat to the eyes. I loved it and I wanna stay in all the beautiful richness and royalty drenched bedrooms in this beautifully Victorian bed and breakfast, in a neat looking neighborhood.

We have been coming to Berry Manor Inn for years, and it's become a tradition for us to winter vacation here. The staff are incredible, the house is beautiful, the breakfast and the berry pies are delicious. It's the perfect location - quiet but close to downtown Rockland and not far from Camden.

Mary and John were amazing and attentive hosts. We stayed in room 6 and loved the decor and comfortable furnishings. The pie was outstanding as was the breakfast - apple cinnamon scones ! Downtown Rockland did not disappoint even in the middle of winter (oysters!) A perfect getaway. We will be back again for sure.

Fantastic stay with great staff, wonderful room and unbelievable pies every day! We met chef John, Mary and little John the Marine! The service was great and the property is beautiful. We had three different types of pie over 3 days. Can’t wait to return soon!

Just a very wonderful place! If you’re visiting Main. Specially if you planning on visiting Rockland area. The house is amazing, and the people there are even better! Best bed and breakfast I 10/10 recommend it. There pies are to die for. Can’t wait to visit again. Eugene

This bed and breakfast is top notch for weddings. Our daughter and new son in law had their wedding here. The staff are so considerate and accommodating. The rooms are gorgeous and make you feel like royalty. It is a comfortable place and beautiful inside and out. The breakfast was excellent and the pies were wonderful. Mary, Tammy, John Sr. And John Jr. & Emma were all great. The flowers were beautiful, the cake and the photographer were wonderful. Thank you Kim from Texas

My husband and I decided to visit Rockland on a weekend getaway. Berry Manor Inn was suggested to my by a colleague several years ago. It is a quaint and comfortable inn with very friendly hosts and staff. Breakfasts were delicious and freshly prepared and the pies were a great added attraction. Our bedroom was large and cozy at the same time and, as it was a chilly weekend, we were able to use the gas fireplace. It is located within walking distance of downtown Rockland which houses many restaurants, shops and museums. Make sure you save time for the lighthouses. We plan to return sometime in the future.
