Reviews of Gregorio VII Luxury Suites San Damaso

I was disappointed with our experience. This is not a hotel, this is a refurbished room within a flat in a block of flats on the outskirts of Rome. It was incredibly hard to find because of the lack of any distinguishable signage showing the hotel name because it isn’t a hotel. When we finally entered the room, it is in desperate need of redecoration, it’s in such a poor condition. There’s no storage space with the exception of 4 cubby holes and about 6 hangers on a corroded metal rail, we spent the whole time living out of our suitcases. As other reviews have said, the room is not at all soundproof, you can hear everything from the cars outside to the people in the next room. The worst noise was the fridge in the room, I’ve never heard anything so loud, as for the pipes and other services, they are also very loud all throughout the night, we didn’t sleep well for the duration of our trip due to this. The bathroom mirror supposedly had a built in light which didn’t work and the mastic round the shower is damaged so the bathroom floor around the shower/toilet was always wet. The room is tiny, you have to walk sideways between the jacuzzi and the bed to get to the other side of the room because that’s how small it is. Be aware that the water coming out of the jacuzzi did smell initially, we assumed this could be because of stagnant water which did worry us, when we tried it the second time, the water/jets still smelt at the beginning which was really off putting and we didn’t use it again. Towards the end of our stay the bathroom door frame came loose and the front door frame came loose. I could continue but I feel like I’ve mentioned numerous points to justify avoiding this place. The positives of this room was that the bed was comfortable, and the tv is quite big and you can connect to Netflix, Disney etc. It is near the Vatican City and has well connected public transport but if you want to access the main tourist spots in Rome, prepare for a 40 min journey on a busy bus. In my opinion, this is not a luxury suite and could do with a real upgrade.
