Very cool hotel with perfect paintings and sculptures. Friendly staff.

The Asian male receptionists is very helpful and friendly. 🏨 is close to 🚇 , restaurants and supermarkets. Room is spacious. I was upgraded to a bigger room. Look for the discounted rate online as this hotel does promotion sometimes. City tax is only 4 euro , not 6 euro as written on this Trip com website

We booked this hotel based on its 4 Star rating AND consistently excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. I am writing this review to provide a fair and balanced assessment based on our experience. Let me start with the owner/manager who was in all ways absolutely exemplary. Our pre-arrival confirmation & any correspondence was dealt with expeditiously. Upon arrival (around 11:30PM), the room we were provided was a very good size and was clean in most respects. That said, in our opinion, the hotel does not live up to its 4 Star rating. The single biggest problem we had was that as soon as we entered the room there was a VERY strong smell of scented air freshener having been sprayed in the room. My wife & I are both allergic to scents of any kind and this smell was absolutely overpowering. When I requested a change in the room, the manager informed us that the property was full for the night and as such no other rooms were available. To be fair, he offered to move us to another property of theirs, but it was almost midnight and I did not want to move to another property about which I knew nothing. To get rid of the scent, we opened the door to the small balcony and spent the night in a very uncomfortable environment. Next morning we were shown another room; however, that room too had the same very strong smell of air freshener. We decided to stay in our original room, but insisted that no air freshener be used in our room while we were staying there. That request was appropriately handled. If you are booking this hotel and are allergic to scents & perfumes, I strongly suggest informing the manager in advance and asking that no air freshener or other scents be used in preparing the room for your arrival. Other reasons why the 4 Star rating is in our opinion not appropriate: 1. The room had cheap $$ store type disposable plastic glasses in the room. There was no glassware or ceramic cups etc of any type in the room. 2. Several cracks in the wall/flooring were visible (especially in the bathroom/toilet areas). 3. The room lacked some basic necessities like a box of tissues. 4. While the bed was reasonably comfortable, there were no blankets, duvets or comforter in the room (and yes, Rome does get fairly cold at night especially in late November). 5. There was no kettle, coffee maker or tea/coffee supplies in the room. There is however a McDonalds which is a 2-minute walk from the hotel. 6. Breakfast is not provided (Paid or included). 7. The room did not have a telephone or any “Do Not Disturb” sign. In conclusion, I’d say that overall, the Aurelius is a decent place for the price we paid. However, the strong smell of air freshener was a deal breaker for us. Also, given the absence of some basic amenities noted above, in our opinion, it definitely does not qualify for a 4 star classification. A 3 Star rating would be generous. We stayed for one week, room was clean and perfect size. The receptionist was great, very friendly and helpful. He should work as a tour guide. Location was great, 4 min from the subway. The only thing we did not have was a mini fridge and kattle for hot water, otherwise it was a pleasant stay.

I checked-in an hour ago and think I got the most awful room in this hotel: it is on the ground floor and much smaller than it’s shown on the pictures, so it’s freezing, and I’m not feeling save here. There is no water in there as well. There is a usual key, not a card. I don’t really know if the door closes well. Feels like I’m living in a basement.

Basic hotel but very clean and excellent service from the only staff we saw. He was there day and night. Everything was great.

The hotel was really nice. Unfortunately, they put two twin beds together with two separate twin bed frames, so if you got anywhere near the middle of the bed, they would move apart. Sad for such a beautiful hotel!!

The first room I got had one power outlet behind the fridge. I chaged room for one night to get one equiped wit power outlets, but then I had to change again after one night. i only saw one person working at the hotel and you had to call on a inernphone to get service at the front desk. Also awkward to not get into some kind of lobby from the street at arival becouse a locked gate stopped you at the street.
