The location of the hotel was amazing it was very close to mostly everything. Checking in went great was escorting to our room and explained everything but our AC remote was broken too. I didn’t like how the TV was way up the wall and on our last night I saw a small cockroach crawling on the wall didn’t get the chance to take a photo of it as got too scared of it. We had 1 still and 1 fizzy water for free throughout our 2 nights thought if it’s a 3 star I would at least expect a free water bottle for the each night.

The team is trying very hard. I had room 448 on the 4th floor. Windows to the theater. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Termini. The room is clean. There are enough towels, shampoo and gel. there is water in the refrigerator - very thoughtful. The only note is that the heated towel rail does not work and therefore it is cold in the bathroom. Thanks to the hotel team for your hospitality. Happy New Year.

Nice quiet hotel. I appreciated that the front desk associate walked me to my room. - nice touch. Felt very safe here. Comfortable bed & very quiet.

Pros:
close to train station
room was average, not super fancy but still nice
complimentary water but tasted disgusting (better off drinking from the fountains)
good amount of towels but need to request new ones by leaving them on the ground
Cons:
beds were alright if not a bit hard
blankets could be better and felt like they weren’t really washed
the worst part was definitely dealing with the staff- extremely confusing and frustrating given that they switch staff members every couple hours or so and their understanding of english seems to be limited given the amount of misunderstandings we had
when trying to resolve the issue, staff was not very accommodating or helpful but rather dismissive and condescending.
overall, I would have chosen a different hotel somewhere else in the city and even splurged more to have more pleasant staff and avoid the headache. save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else.

Stayed at the Hotel Sonya for three nights our last time in Rome. We have stayed at the Hotel Sonya three times, the first time back in 2014, and again in 2018. Hate to say it, but it is not the same Hotel it once was. First, when we entered the lobby, the man behind the desk asked me to wait just a minute, then continued to BS with some woman. Five minutes later she left then the man asked for our passports, made copies and handed them back to us, without saying anything else. Five minutes later a second man came down and sat behind the desk staring at the computer. A few minutes later he asked “may I help you?“. The whole welcoming was not very welcoming! The hotel, including our room was clean, but has just not been kept up, and in a word, was dingy! The air conditioning was sub-par at best. And we put a bottle of wine in our in-room refrigerator. Let’s just say, it would have been colder if we had set it in the window. Definitely our last stay at Hotel Sonya.

Really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Sonya. That staff was very friends, the room large, clean and comfortable. Great location to getting around Rome. The only negative comment is that the internet was slow and spotty.
