A pretty old hotel near Roma Termini. Nice receptionists helping us to carry luggages. The hygiene level is average. Overall, it's worth the price.

The location of the hotel was amazing it was very close to mostly everything. Checking in went great was escorting to our room and explained everything but our AC remote was broken too. I didn’t like how the TV was way up the wall and on our last night I saw a small cockroach crawling on the wall didn’t get the chance to take a photo of it as got too scared of it. We had 1 still and 1 fizzy water for free throughout our 2 nights thought if it’s a 3 star I would at least expect a free water bottle for the each night.

The team is trying very hard. I had room 448 on the 4th floor. Windows to the theater. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Termini. The room is clean. There are enough towels, shampoo and gel. there is water in the refrigerator - very thoughtful. The only note is that the heated towel rail does not work and therefore it is cold in the bathroom. Thanks to the hotel team for your hospitality. Happy New Year.

It is more than 700 meters away from the train station and can be reached on foot.
Front desk service is very good.
The room decoration is old-fashioned style but clean.
The house may be a bit old, and the elevator shows its age. It is surrounded by a grid of cages, and the door must be locked manually. It's like entering a museum.

We booked a double room through Hotel Sonya/ Opera Suites and the pictures showed a spacious room with a balcony overlooking the street and a large bathroom/shower. Reality was basically a storage closet with a view into the inner piping of the building with no sunlight and a shower that was so small you’d have to open the door and step out to pick something up off the floor. It was so small that a queen sized bed took up all the floor space and we couldn’t even lay our suitcases down. I had to push the bed over to the window to make room for the bags. I will include pictures of our room because it was an absolute joke. They did not advertise this space anywhere on their website. Just totally embarrassing business ethics. Definition of a tourist trap. I will be including pictures so everyone considering this place understands what they might be stuck with.

Hotel Sonya is in a great location for exploring Rome. It’s near the train station which makes for easy public transport access but also in a safe area which we appreciated. The room has nice high ceilings, fridge, TV, extra pillows and blankets, kettle, cups (you’d have to bring your own tea/coffee but that didn’t bother us), shower room with toilet and soap etc plus hairdryer. The air conditioning was really good and perfect for cooling off after a long day in the heat. The room is a little dated and worn but spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. A great option for those on a budget. Would stay here again and recommend.

Hotel Sonya has an excellent location and helpful staff, with plenty of restaurants on every corner. The front lobby and aging elevator are not its best features, but coming home to Hotel Sonya after a long, hot day in Rome makes this hotel a good choice. The opera house across the street is beautiful at night! The hotel is a 7-8 min walk from Termini Station, and hotel staff were kind about calling taxis for our group when needed. I would stay there again!

Overall, quite dirty and dated and worn out rooms. Hard to get your luggage through the hallways. Bathroom small. But the hotel was close distance to train station and cafes. Free internet. Extra charge of 12 euro per person when you arrive.

Very clean and comfortable. Our beds and pillow are very comfortable. Conveniently located near lots of restaurants and the metro. We were not reminded that breakfast is included so be sure to inquire about it. Convenient store in front of hotel available for snacks, salad, drinks and sandwiches.

It is an old hotel. The counter in the bathroom was slanted down and anything you put on it would slip off. The beds were uncomfortable as well. Also, I found that the door sometimes popped back open if not shut properly, so just make sure to make sure it shuts all the way! BUT the room was very big so that was great! and the location was good as well. The walk to the Colosseum was under an hour, and lots to see on the way! Overall, it is a very good price in Rome so good value for that.

Stayed two nights pre-cruise at this small, clean, no-frills hotel with friendly and helpful front desk staff. Easy to get there from the Fiumicino airport—taxi fixed fare (NOV 2023) to center of Rome was 50 euros. Within a short walking distance to the Termini train station. Bought our Hop On, Hop Off (HOHO) bus tickets at the newsstand across the street. HOHO bus stop is just 5-10 minutes away—walk east on Via del Viminale and just past Via Giovanni Amendola. Many restaurants around the area and a mini supermarket two doors down. Front desk staff assisted us in booking a car service to get to the Civitavecchia cruise port. However, on embarkation day, the driver was stuck in traffic and could not get to us on time. The front desk staff assisted us once again by calling for a taxi instead—by taxi meter, 152 euros from the hotel to Civitavecchia port. Our hotel stay was comfortable, pleasant and sufficient for our needs.

The only complaint was the price. Location was great the Rome Terminal 10 minutes walking. The rooms are nice clean nice towels. Bed was nice not enough outlet plugs. The shower temperature was not to stable if you showered with cold water maybe not too many surprises. Also no breakfast

We booked with friends directly through the hotel by email. We had stayed in their sister hotel ( owned by same person ) since 2009 , most years twice a year. We were booked here when Covid closed travel. We rebooked at end of Covid to stay after a cruise which was canceled due to Covid and we rescheduled once again. The hotel sent us a curt message that our reservation would be canceled if any more changes occurred. We arrived from the cruise port for a 4 day stay. The check in gentleman was curt and not very friendly. Our original booking was for 5 nights, our flight was canceled and rebooked a day early. We attempted to rebook on original day but was unsuccessful. The hotel refused to give any break on the one day early departure. Our room was 550. Very Clean, very small bath, no view, bed comfortable, pillows very flat and hard, a/c worked well, good water pressure in shower. Internet strong once we figured out to use the other building name site. When we booked, Breakfast was still listed on site, however now a voucher is provide for a cafe / bar 2 doors away. 3 options are given ….American breakfast ( scrambled well done eggs, a piece bacon, and Toast and butter) or pancakes or a croissant plus juice and a hot beverage with each choice. Service was good and fast. Adequate breakfast but not great and a far cry from the delicious breakfast that was previously served at this hotel and the sister hotel. Feel very cheated since in house breakfast was included when I booked. Location is great in front of the Opera, one block from National Street, and the Terminal Station. Excellent. Lots of restaurants near by and a Carefor market just across the street. Easy walk to major sites from here. Staff is a bit unfriendly except for Fredricka who is very friendly and extremely helpful. She booked our car to the airport and can arrange transportation to port as well. She was a ray of sunshine. After 14 years staying at the sister hotel, this one just doesn’t measure up to that experience. We will be returning to Rome in October and may have to look for a new hotel. The off site breakfast is a deal breaker.

Great staff who offer top rated service, good cleanliness and rooms of good size. Also the hotel is located at a very good place close to Termini station and within walking distance from most of the attractions of Rome. On the other hand, there are some signs of wear and tear (ok not a big issue) while no breakfast is offered inside the hotel; an average breakfast is offered at a nearby very small cafe. All in all, Hotel Sonya will be among our priorities the next time we will visit Rome.
