Hotels in Via Veneto, Rome

In no particular order: - The wallpaper was peeling - The woodwork was chipped and dirty - The decor and furniture seemed to be a time machine to the late seventies/early eighties - You had to keep signing into the wifi, even while just sitting in the room - The fridge was ancient and barely worked (once we had actually plugged it in because it wasn't when we arrived) - The bed was uncomfortable - The bed linen consisted of a sheet, a bobbly synthetic blanket and a bed cover more suitable for Nonna - Unlike *every* other hotel or B&B I've ever stayed in, there was no kettle, tea or coffee - The air conditioning was like being breathed on by a mouse and the vent was dirty - The room was right next two elevators and a stairwell, so we were treated to random clanks and knocks during the night - The room was right above the entrance onto a busy street, so if you opened the window for some air we suffered a wide selection of traffic and other noises as well as pollution - The picture of the Virgin above the bed looking down on us was just downright dusturbing - The switches for the lights above the bed were behind the headboard, so if you moved at all in bed you flicked them on or off - The bathroom was was damp, windowless and dank - The doors to the tiny shower cubicle leaked all over the floor (not helping with the above) - The jets of water from the shower head were so narrow and hard it felt more like a water cutting machine at all but the tiniest nudge of the lever (which I kept bashing as I washed myself, either making the water scalding hot or turning it off altogether) - But most of all, *most of all*, the room stank! Properly smelled. A situation not helped by the air-conditioning, the extractor fan or opening the window. It was like a strong wave hitting you every time we opened the door. Though the ceiling was nice. And it is within reasonable walking distance of a lot of sights. It probably didn't help that - judging by the fire evacuation plan - we appeared to have the smallest room in the hotel. I think the linen cupboard just down the hall may have been more spacious. Certainly it would have smelled better. This is a hotel seriously in need of a refurb, some basic maintenance and a bit of care and attention. As it stands I am surprised they have the gall to charge what they do, or call it a four star. I've stayed in nicer bunkhouses

The hotel space is very large, the noise is too much, the staff service attitude is good, the breakfast choice is much more than the four-star hotel, the city tax per person per night is 7 €, quite expensive!

I looked for a relatively cheap place to stay in Rome, as prices have soared recently. I picked Gialel and although I didn't have an unpleasant stay per se, I should have taken a bit more time to find a better place. My room was quite basic. No airco save for the ventilator. There was a brutal heatwave in Rome, so this was not ideal. The shower worked but was also quite basic. There was no toilet paper the first two days and the bedding was not changed until day three, even though I was sweating a lot at night. Speaking of the beds.. there were four beds and one of them literally bent all the way to the floor the moment I out any weight on it. On the positive side: the owners are friendly, I like that I don't need a key to access the building or the room (they work with codes) and the wifi was excellent. The location is nice. The neigbourhood around Veneto is affluent, safe en pretty. But, it's also a twenty minute, hilly walk to Spagna and even further away from the Forum. There a a bus stop nearby with connections to Termini and Venezia, so it's not impossible to get around. So, no it wasn't great and I will look for another place next time. But it could have been worse.

Part of Insight Vacations tour group. We were the first guests to stay supposedly post renovation. Problem was it was still a construction zone. It was a complete Fawlty Towers experience. They should have organised alternative venue rather than assure tour operators that all was good except for internal telephones not working. Poor internet then we returned from day out to no internet. Management did not think to advise us of change to internet access and new password required. Reception area was a tiny desk with no sign nor way of getting assistance when unmanned. Too many non working amenities, breakfast room not open so sat at long tables set up for conventions/computer usage. Layout of breakfast poor due to lack of space and no forethought as to ensure good flow for guests. Construction taking place with breakfast items set up for the next day, construction dust flying around. Construction noise until 10pm at night. Fire doors without hardware so people could not get to their rooms. Plumbing leaking into rooms from floor above. Construction workers kept commandeering the only working lift so some of our group had difficulty getting to and from their rooms. Showers were the tiniest I have ever experienced. Bathroom layout poorly designed - minimal room to walk past vanity to toilet. Need to be super thin to be able to use bathroom comfortably. No fridge or tea/coffee making facilities, no space to open suitcases (I know standard for much of Europe). As a group there was minimal space for us to congregate so we commandeered front window room and carried furniture from other spaces. I had misfortune to fall down the stairs due to failure of stair tread. Others had slips but luckily did not fall. Stair treads reattached with gaffer tape over the, to hold them in place! My clothes were damaged by adhesive from stair treads not able to be removed by dry cleaning. I was promised I would be sent 50 euros for replacement clothing. Four months and many emails later still no money sent to me. I did not claim for cost of excursion I missed the next day due to being to sore to walk. Tour company has been of no assistance and from reviews appears to be still using this venue.

Excellent hotel. I stayed 2 nights and from the customer service, the room, the ambiance and food it’s was really enjoyable. The room was very clean and the amenities in the room was not just your average hotel. The bed was so comfortable and my room though not cold was comfortable enough to sleep well. I wasn’t sure what was nearby but I got out and walked and found many restaurants and shopping. The Trevor fountain was in walking distance very beautiful but extremely crowded. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel is my best choice for Rome. The hotel is located opposite the US Embassy, and the soldiers are guarded and feel safe. There is also a supermarket opposite, and it is very convenient to buy some daily necessities. At the same time, the hotel is very close to the Plaza de España and shopping is very convenient. The hotel's service is also very good, breakfast is rich. If you have a chance next time, you must experience SAP.

+The location is very good. It is within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain, Plaza de Espana and Borghese Park. The reception staff are also very friendly. Luggage storage service is also available. The bedding is clean and the cleanliness is good. I like the tile floor. - The room is long and small. There is not much room to open the suitcase. There is no refrigerator. There are cracks or worn parts in the bathroom shower booth or sink. Amenities provided are disposable cups for brushing teeth, shower gel and soap. Breakfast is very simple. (Some breads, boiled eggs, cheese, ham, cereals, yogurt, coffee machines, juices, jams and teas are all available. There are no salads or fruits.) Among expensive lodgings in Rome, a single room like this is not bad for the price. It was a short itinerary and the time I stayed in the hotel was not long, so it was okay.

We stayed 3 nights at the NH Collection Roma Vittoria Veneto hotel and had a good time, yes hotel is probably slightly further away from the attractions but still very well located, as reference 0.8 miles to Fontana de Trevi or 0.5 miles to Spanish steps. we walked most times and used metro only 2-3 times and few times uber to go back to the hotel or to go to the train station. The neighborhood around the hotel is really nice and safe with dining options, the villa Borghese park is just next to the hotel. Our room was big to accommodate our party of 3 and were surprised by the hotel room as we had lower expectation based on previous reviews, we chose this hotel based on quality/price as our budget was $450 USD/night and this hotel fit the bill but we did our reservations just 10 weeks before, noticed that same room a month before was over $750 due that we wanted to re-look for options but honestly hotel rooms in Rome are higher than other cities and you won't get 3.5 - 4 star hotels below $600USD during this time of year. so I think we got a fair price. Our stay didn't include breakfast and was buffet style and cost was $22 Euros special price during the check inn process or $30 after, (that was the only think didn't like that lady at front desk was too pushy on this) but we decided not to eat breakfast at the hotel and found some good cafes 10 mins away south towards the main attractions. Hotel has a fitness center that we used a couple of times, overall it was a good choice and NH hotel does a good job, Noticed that this chain has several hotels in city center, so, were not disappointed by NH Roma Vittorio

My experience with Excellence suite was amazing since the day I booked the room. The team was always responsive to my questions before we arrived as it was my first trip to Rome and I had some concerns. When we arrived, the welcoming was very good. The lady was very nice and explained everything to us. The room was big, clean and has all the amenities needed (towels, shower gel, kettle, tea..). The room was arranged on a daily basis. The hotel is close to main attractions, we could walk everywhere without using any other kind of transport. The neighborhood is calm at night and during the day. You can sleep easily without hearing voices from the street. Overall, my stay was amazing there and I highly recommend this place.
