Royal Tunbridge Wells|1.78km from St Luke's Church
We stayed for 3 nights from 19th-22nd May, we were attending a wedding in the area and wanted somewhere to extend it to a weekend break. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout however, the initial investment to move away from a conference centre needs updating. The first room we were allocated had carpet I would expect to find in an office and bed that squeaked everytime I shifted my weight to the extent that it woke me and my husband up throughout the night. Having told the reception staff after the first night I was advised they would let the maintenance team know. We returned very late that day and it was clear nothing had been done about the bed but just went to bed because of the time. When I complained the next day that I was told that the maintenance team don’t work weekends. We were not initially offered another room because the hotel was apparently full. The second morning we were offered another room, which was smaller than the first, and that was not very big! We were offered a third room which was larger than the first two, but had ants near the window and you could tell the bed has not been updated for a while as the spring could be felt in the mattress. We gave up and slept in the room and it was a better night than the first two. We also found a detection card of some kind under the bed of the first room that was dated from 2001! And there were other signs around the hotels main building and additional buildings that they just don’t have enough staff, things like beer glasses around from events the day/night before but still out at midday. The overall impression is that outside weddings and conferences it’s trying to compete with a mid-range hotel market, however, despite paying more it didn’t feel like we got a room or bed that couldn’t be matched in a chain of hotels who would guarantee a good night sleep and ensure the beds were regularly updated. The breakfast was included but nothing that couldn’t be had in a well-known chain and with less choice/options. We wouldn’t recommend it unless you were staying overnight as part of a wedding package/party. Ok for one night but disappointing as a weekend getaway.

Camden Arms Hotel

We stayed for a night while making a motorcycle trip through the UK and picked the Camden Arms when looking for a local hotel. The hotel has everything needed for a good nights rest and a nice pub. The hotel has a convenient parking next to it and a large beer garden attached to the pub. Rooms were fine and the food served in the pub as good. We would recommend this place to others

Travelodge Tunbridge Wells

Our recent stay at Travelodge was a diverse experience that encapsulated both positive and constructive aspects. While the hotel showcased its historical charm, signs of aging were discernible, notably in creaky floors and areas calling for updates. Our room, though well-kept, bore the marks of time. Notably, the check-in process, handled by Daniel, was seamless, and his welcoming demeanor set a positive tone for our stay. It was during the evenings at the bar that Jake, a standout member of the night staff, provided engaging conversation, contributing to a pleasant and sociable atmosphere. Despite areas that could benefit from improvement, the positive experiences, including the warm reception from Daniel during check-in and the delightful conversations with Jake at the bar, left us with an overall favorable impression of Travelodge. The combination of historic charm, central location, and the personable touch of staff members like Daniel and Jake makes this hotel a promising choice for those seeking a distinctive and welcoming stay in Kent.

The Spa Hotel
4.2/5104 Reviews
The staff in the Spa and Orangery are excellent with the exception of one quite sullen masseuse. My facial was a lovely experience. For the Spa cost, i’d have expected more. Fellow guests felt their massages were shorter than the allotted time. Treatments were not booked in synch with others in the party or timed adequately wrt using gym/pool. My facial was before my sauna/swim. The lounge/waiting area and relaxation areas both need a top-notch coffee machine. The pool needs to be warmer. The changing room is too small and lockers cramped. The between-shower screens are almost transparent. The showers need luxury shampoos, shower gels and body and hand lotions. The make-up area is too small for ladies glamming up for the afternoon tea or post-spa lunch. There needs to be more waste-bins too. The Orangery is beautifully decorated and light and airy. The afternoon tea is quite small and food replenishments are sadly chargeable. Tea is replenished. The scones are small and not warm. Overall, great front-of-house staff and quality decor covers for a lack of substance in facilities and food which feels like a let-down in one of Tun Wells most notable hotels.
Russell Hotel

Central town centre location in Tunbridge Wells, useful to have the free car park (unlike most hotels nearby). Budget conscious, but it’s clean and comfortable. It might be a bit dated but some might call that ‘retro charm’.
