Unfortunately we didn’t love it here. It is a lovely boutique style hotel, with some lovely touches like a cafetière in the room, dressing gown and slippers, and the decor was very nice, run by a lovely gentleman and his partner. But there were a few very fundamental things that really let the place down. The lock on our door was broken meaning it wouldn’t lock from the inside. It didn’t have a latch, so you needed to lock it just to shut it. The man was very helpful but couldn’t fix it so we just had to ram a chair against the door to keep it closed. It was downstairs right next to the front door, so we didn’t feel very secure and just didn’t know if someone would just wander in. Turned out only 2 of the rooms were taken that night so in hindsight why didn’t he just put us in a secure room!? It took until late the next day to resolve by giving us an alternative key, after me chasing and calling to follow up. That evening we thought it might be nice to have a drink in the bar….hit there was no ice, which is quite fundamental for a bar really. Then we were charged £18 for 2 gin and tonics! Jolly glad we only had one!! We chose not to have breakfast as well was that was also rather overpriced. There was also little things like you had to unplug the tv to boil the kettle! And the bed had a weird hard ridge round the outside and when you lay on it you were slightly tilted backwards. Anyway it was ‘fine’ just a little bit like it was trying to be something special and it wasn’t and hugely disappointing that they thought it was ok to offer us no solution to the lock issue / pretty basic.

Absolutely fantastic stay. The host was very polite and friendly. We ate in the restaurant on the Friday night and the food, drink and service was 10/10. The bedroom was immaculate and had every thing we needed. Lots of nice extras such as a cafetiere with coffee in the room, dressing gowns and toiletries. Perfect location . Will definitely return in the future.

Arrived and followed the comprehensive instructions to gain access to the property, find our room and collect parking permit - all went without a hitch. Nearby carpark has lots of space but can drop off at the door. Pass works across the county which is a real bonus. Room was dramatically decorated in dark tones and floral paper - and really worked. We had said we were bringing our dog - a bed and bowls were waiting for her in our room. Fresh ground coffee and cafetière in the room too. Small details - big impression. We had breakfast on both mornings - wonderful Welsh breakfast (with amazing bacon) freshly cooked to order. Dining area is informal and full of interesting art. In the basement there is a fantastic 20-seat cinema. Gavin & Chris put on films with a themed 2-course menu that residents can attend, but is open to locals - we got a quick preview: sound quality and seating are impressive and the setting is unique. Look at their website for details - we want to return for the experience. Perfect location to explore the whole town on foot; garden furniture to sit quietly and read if you want. Lovely hosts, lovely stay in this historic but very comfortable quirky accommodation.

I attended the Supper Club's Christmas dinner last night and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The menu was really good the other diners were great company; all in all, a very nice way to continue the Festive Season experience - thanks Gavin and Chris!

We booked the Film night on 28/04/23 the meal was ordinary. At the end of the meal the restaraunt emptied very quickly. Little did we know this was because the cinema downstairs could not sit 10 couples sitting togetherso when we went down there were no spaces to sit together. I complained but was greeted with a shrug of the shoulders so what was intended as a romantic night turned into both of us watching thr film alone. My partner complained by Email yesterday the response she got was in her words rude and uncaring suggesting we didn't need to come back. My partners impression was that they didn't care and suggested we didn't need to come back. We still have a copy of their reply.

Thoughtfully appointed rooms, welcoming hosts and good value for proper hotel in Ruthin whilst visiting family. Comfortable bed and unusually manages to be fun, stylish and just what we were looking for away for the weekend. In addition to the room, having to work for some of the weekend, the upstairs library was perfect place to complete activity whilst also reading travel materials and lifestyle magazines too helpfully. Highly recommended.

We just returned from a lovely stay in the Manor Haus Ruthin. Having booked the midweek break on recommendation from family, we were not disappointed. The room was clean and spacious (we upgraded to the suite) and the breakfast was of excellent quality. We had a great nights sleep and enjoyed a bath by the window. Gavin was available when we needed assistance, drinks, food and overall it was one of the nicest stays we have had. Added to this it was excellent value, as were used to paying much more for much less! We will be back, thank you 😊

This is our second stay with Gavin and Christopher at Manorhaus and we'll be back! The food is amazing, another level, wonderful local produce, cooked ro perfection and presented with care and flair. Breakfast has loads of choice and is beautifully presented. We are in all three nights and the food was absolutely delicious and complemented by an excellent drinks selection. Gavin and Christopher are very welcoming and have put lots of lovely touches in the room. The room had a lovely view of the hills we walked in just before we arrived. The location is lovely, a very easy walk round the town and parking is a very short walk. The parking permit allowed us to park for free in Denbigh too.

Having stayed in a number of other places in Ruthin to visit family, Manorhaus stands out as the best by far. It's beautifully, tastefully decorated and cleaned to a high standard. It is well situated in the centre of Ruthin and the room was very comfortable. The team are warm and welcoming. The breakfast was worth it - cooked to order and really enjoyable. Excellent value for money. Will book again.

I travel a lot for business and for me Manorhaus is a perfect, get away from it, retreat. It is set in the centre of Ruthin, which itself is set in a valley between beautiful rolling hills. The hotel itself is small, but cosy, welcoming and decorated to a great standard, whilst maintaining the charm of the building. The room (8) was easily big enough for my needs and the view of the hills across the valley was lovely. Two things really stood out, firstly the breakfast, locally sourced bacon and sausages, expertly cooked were fantastic and secondly the hosts, Gavin and Chris who were welcoming, attentive without being intrusive and just made the stay a real pleasure. I will definitely be returning next time I am working in the area.

We couldn't have had a better holiday. Gavin and Chris are lovely. They are the perfect hosts. They made sure we had everything that we could possibly want for our stay. The room was large, clean, water was hot and the bed was extremely comfortable. Towels were changed every day. Breakfast was of the best quality and the choice was extensive. We had dinner one night and it was deicious. It's obvious they use the best ingredients and it was cooked to perfection. The whole stay was wonderful and I can't wait to go back. Ruthin itself has a lot to offer and it is also easy to get to other places. We went to Chester for the day and it only took an hour on the bus, which drops you off right in the centre. We also found it easy to get to the North Wales coastal towns.

Really did not like this hotel. It was a total hassle booking in. There is no parking at the hotel, so you need to park somewhere else, walk the hotel, faff around gaining access re the electronic code, go to your room, get the car pass, go back to your car, drive to the car park (if you are not there already), then walk back to the hotel with your luggage. (Reverse and repeat for checking out). You do this without seeing any hotel owners or staff. When they say small room, the really do mean small. There is very little place to put your clothes, very little space to make tea and coffee, very little space to walk or do anything. Very small TV on the wall. Also be careful when leaving the room, that you don’t bang your head. The bathroom needs a refurb. If you need a shave, you have to bend to see your face. Tiles were mouldy. Some things were not fixed to the wall properly and fell off. As there is no air con, you have to leave the small window open, which means it is very noisy in the night and you are woken up very early with an array of squeaking seagulls. Can not comment on the service as we never got any. Also never ate there. Maybe if we would have booked a more luxurious room it may have been different. However, this room was not cheap.
