The room was clean and well presented . Check in was made more difficult as the screen did not work for both ourselves and others which meant waiting for a receptionist to man the desk. She was polite and efficient. The breakfast was good. Parking was limited and we paid for parking on a nearby street . This turned out to be cheeped than the multi story car park even when the discount was applied Overall we were pleased with our two night stay in St Albans. This was the fourth forth hotel we stayed at and was certainly the best of the bunch

If the guest does not notify the front desk, the hotel staff will not enter the room to clean and tidy up. I very much agree with this approach, which is environmentally friendly and does not hinder the daily life of the guests.

We arrived on Friday night and there was a nightclub opposite playing thumping music. We had already asked for a quiet room by email. The only one available that didn't get the beats through the walls was at the other side of the hotel. Upon entry, we immediately smelled stale smoke. It was impossible to open the window (the receptionist told us it had been sealed shut). He tried to deoderise the room but the smell never went away during our stay. The furniture looked dated. There was only one chair, despite us asking for a family room, so my daughter sat on the floor, giving her a good view of the underside of the bed. She noticed peanuts beneath. Clearly the room had not been cleaned to a good standard. Wifi is temperamental. It kept throwing us out and we had to reconnect. Other really important facts: It is impossible to contact St. Albans City hotel by phone. I spent one week trying. Eventually I waited for 20 minutes on a central line. They gave me the St. Albans email address. I wrote but didn't get a response for 4 days. I find it very poor that you cannot have direct contact and this will definitely affect my choice of hotel next time. On the upside, the staff were exceptionally friendly and trying to do their best within their limitations. Special thanks to Hameed. He went out of his way to try and find another room and make us feel more comfortable. Although in the end, we stayed because it was the quietest

Booked Premier plus for the extras and good WiFi to add to our stay. While room was ok there were no coffee pods or still water for the whole three days. Told they had not been delivered. Well go out and get some - we are paying for them after all! Ultimate WiFi kept dropping out. On check in they forgot to give us the WiFi code so had to go back to reception. By then there was a big check in queue as the computer was not working so a 30 minute wait to talk to someone. Also only given one bath towel for the two of us and the tv remote conked out. Heating control seemed to make no difference to room temperature and kept defaulting back to 20oC (it felt colder). Everything was hard work. so it was all very frustrating and most of it resolvable.

In December 2021 we stayed 4 nights with two boys aged under 12. First night we all had a terrible night’s sleep as it was a windy night and the air vent in the window made loud intermittent noise all night. In the morning we talked to two people at reception and were promised that the maintenance guy would fix it. Next night no noise from the flap in the window. Following night was very windy the air vent was again making loud intermittent noise so at 5am we had to complain to reception. A guy came to the room, heard the noise and advised that he couldn’t do anything until the maintenance guy arrived in the morning. In the morning we complained again at reception who advised that the maintenance guy was not working that day. In the evening a stick had been inserted into the air vent to stop it flapping! It was such a windy night that we could still hear the noise of air vents from the neighbouring rooms – also very annoying. Imagine all of this, with two young kids also not sleeping! We’ve complained on the Good Night Guarantee to ask for a full refund – I’m not holding my breath!

Basic rooms with windows which do not open so a bit claustrophobic. Good location right in the town centre. Bath in bathroom with shower over which was a little awkward for older people. Only one towel in room had to ask for more for two people.

Stayed for 1 night at the Premier Inn in St Albans City Centre. It was clean and comfortable and had everything that I needed. Staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was lovely in the morning. Stayed there for practicality / necessity and it was ideal for the night.
