We had very high expectations and the hotel totally exceeded them! Stunning setting, fabulous staff and welcome, loved the ease of the valet parking, understated luxury throughout with so many lovely thoughtful touches. We loved the design of the whole hotel, super comfortable bedrooms and well designed luxury bathroom. Stunning restaurant and the terrace was the icing on the cake, a real wow. We would sit enjoying the delicious breakfast for hours mesmerised by the unbroken estuary views and working our way through the fresh juices, fruits, fantastic coffees, huge choice of cooked options. Equally suppers were a treat, wonderful food and great choice. We will definitely return.

We popped into Hotel Tresanton for some drinks and had such a lovely experience. We noticed the beautiful Beach Club terrace but initially assumed that it was for residents only. We asked whether it might be possible to have a drink down there and, rather than making us feel as though we were imposing, we were immediately made to feel very welcome. We were invited to sit on the chairs provided and were even offered the opportunity to use the sun loungers, which was an absolute bonus for us as one of our friends is paralysed. That small gesture of consideration made such a difference and was very much appreciated. The setting is absolutely beautiful and the whole experience felt relaxed, welcoming and effortless. Having had a very disappointing and unwelcoming experience elsewhere in the village earlier that day, the contrast couldn’t have been greater. Tresanton was a refreshing reminder of what excellent hospitality should feel like. We own a large luxury holiday home in the village sleeping up to 12 guests, and Hotel Tresanton is somewhere we regularly recommend to our guests for drinks. After this experience, we will certainly continue to do so. Thank you to the team for making us feel so welcome. We had a wonderful afternoon and look forward to returning.

How very disappointing. Myself and my wife visited this afternoon with the simple request for drinks on the terrace. Promptly ignored by all serving staff and with very few guests on other tables. After sometime my wife became uncomfortable with the lack of any interest in us. I then went to a waitress and asked if it was possible to have drinks on the terrace. " Yes of course!" but we still had no response - we had to leave. I never write poor reviews but in this case, if you ever visit this hotel without already holding a room key, being poorly treated is what you will receive. Snobbery of the highest order and unforgivable. Mr & Mrs Wall

After a great lunch here last week with excellent staff and top class food, last night’s dinner was a damp squib. Most of the staff were surly and grumpy. Our waitress was leaning against the wall with her hands in pockets as we left. There was not a smile among the waiting staff save for the guy with curly hair who was very engaging as we were leaving. All the fish on the menu which looked freshly printed for dinner was out of stock! I was keen to try the brill again as it was excellent last week but alas it was not to be. It was replaced by a slimy piece of cod which broke into small pieces as soon as I touched it. It was clearly a recent stranger to the ocean. No member of staff came to check how our meals were so I gave up the will to live and decided probably better to eat it, take it on the chin as it looked like the kitchen had closed for mains by that point. The lemon posset desert was excellent and the wine list is varied and well priced!

A wonderful stay. The hospitality was amazing, the hotel is exquisite! It’s one of the best hotels we have stayed at (in the world!). This was a real treat for us, as it isn’t cheap to stay but it lived up to our expectations and we will definitely be back. All of the staff are extremely hard working, friendly, personable, I think this is what makes Tresanton so unique. Our room was beautiful designed and decorated, waking up to a view of the sea each morning was lovely. We had one evening meal, as the weather was nice we sat on the terrace, again great service and the food was excellent. Breakfast was very also excellent, a good assortment of fresh fruits, pastries and cereal and a good selection on the hot food menu. The beach club is a nice treat, especially when the weather is good - a lovely view of the harbour, access for a swim close by and comfortable loungers provided with a snack bar for drinks and food. I was pleased to have the honour of being the first ever guest to use the gym - a great edition to the hotel, small but everything you need for a workout. St Mawes is a beautiful place, lots to do in the area but equally if staying at Tresanton you can relax and recharge in the comfort of a beautiful hotel.

We stopped by Hotel Tresanton for drinks before dinner elsewhere, and it was a wonderful start to our evening. The setting is beautiful, with a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. The service was exceptional. The waiters were incredibly professional, attentive, and knowledgeable, talking us through the menu with complete confidence and not needing to write anything down. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality really stood out and made us feel very well looked after. Even though we only visited for drinks, we were so impressed with the experience that we'd happily return for dinner next time.

We’re big fans of the Tresanton restaurant and have been dining there for over 20 years whenever we visit St Mawes. We usually save it for our final evening as a special treat, and over the years we've enjoyed some truly memorable meals. Unfortunately, this visit didn't quite live up to the exceptionally high standards we've come to expect. The service wasn't as attentive as we've experienced in the past. On more than one occasion we had to chase up drinks that had either been forgotten or left sitting at the bar. These things happen, and on their own wouldn't have affected the evening if the food had been as good as usual. The biggest disappointment was the presentation. Our lobster linguine (£32 as a starter) for example arrived looking like a child's pasta dish – simply piled into a bowl with very little imagination. At that price, you'd expect something that looks a bit more creative. Sadly, the courses that followed also lacked the usual Tresanton wow factor. Nothing was terrible, but everything felt rather ordinary, and the whole meal lacked the flair and attention to detail that has always made dining here such a pleasure. This is the first less than amazing meal we've had at the Tresanton in more than two decades of visiting, so we're certainly not writing it off. We'll no doubt return because our previous experiences have been consistently excellent. However, on this occasion it felt like we paid premium prices for a meal that, while perfectly pleasant, was no better than what you might expect from a good pub. We left feeling a little underwhelmed, which is not something we've ever said about the Tresanton before.

What a lovely experience on a beautiful June afternoon. Our waiter Oscar was outstanding, welcoming, friendly and relaxed, he was knowledgeable as well as being a true professional and gave us a menu to look over explaining how the chef worked with fresh produce on a daily basis. We arrived mid afternoon so too early for Dinner, had a glass of fizz and beer on the beautiful terrace. The dining room is picture perfect with a stunning cream and blue palette which reflects its location perfectly. Will definitely make a booking for dinner and return..

Hotel Tresanton is a truly special place. The location is spectacular, with magnificent views over the water and a sense of calm that is difficult to describe until you experience it yourself. The hotel is beautifully designed. The interiors are quintessentially English, yet never fussy or overdone: elegant, understated and effortlessly stylish. Every room feels thoughtfully curated, creating an atmosphere that is both refined and deeply comfortable. The service throughout our stay was warm, professional and genuinely welcoming. The only small disappointment occurred during dinner, when our order was inadvertently forgotten by the kitchen. As a result, we waited considerably longer than expected and were served after guests who had arrived after us. However, what could have been a frustrating experience was handled with sincerity and grace. The staff apologised genuinely and took full responsibility for the mistake, which we greatly appreciated. In any case, the wait proved worthwhile. The food was outstanding. The lamb, in particular, was exquisite , perfectly cooked, beautifully presented. A beautiful hotel in an exceptional setting, combining style, comfort and authentic hospitality. We would return without hesitation.

We had lunch here to mark a special occasion. The food was incredible and the service impeccable. The cocktails were delicious and the strawberry and white chocolate mousse absolutely amazing- highly recommend the mousse! We had a table on the terrace with incredible views overlooking St Mawes and St Anthony’s lighthouse house. Everything was absolutely perfect. Even our little dog loved it, the atmosphere and noise of the sea left her totally chilled. We have always loved it here and will be returning on our next visit to stunning St Mawes!!

Having read reviews and being in st mawes today we decided to treat ourselves to a lunchtime snack, we asked one of the waiters if there was a lunchtime menu and were shown to a table and given menu's, I asked the waiters what the soup was ,he did not know and went to ask the chef on his return I orderer oysters and the celeriac soup my wife ordered a cream tea ,of went the waiter only to come back and say that the cream tea was only served from 14:30 and asked my wife if she would like a cake from the sweet menu with tea ,I now had the feeling that this member of staff was not up to speed with customer service or what was on offer even the waiters in the local pubs tell you what the soup of the day is and what's not available as they give you the menu so I had oysters and soup my wife nothing and then to top off our experience on checking the bill found that the person who had told us the cream tea was not available had allowed the bill to include it this then had to be refunded ,just not what I would have expected from staff at a top end politzi establishment . This was a taster for a prospective future booking which will now not happen ,note the cream tea from the cafe across the road from the ferry jetty was exelent 5*s

We were only there for a lunch. We had booked and the restaurant was empty when we arrived, although it did fill up. The staff were young and generally very good and very keen to help and get things right. We both had asparagus soup which was gorgeous and perfect for a cold and windy day. and then had Lobster Linguini - delicious and perfectly cooked. We had a glass of wine each - good selection to choose from for wines by the glass. My partner had the gnocci and really enjyed that too. Portion sizes were average. We had a marvellous chocolate fondant - gorgeous! We sat in the sitting room with our coffee....a nice way to finish off - very cosy and totally relaxed but elegant style. Loved it.

2nd visit with family on a lovely Saturday afternoon for lunch. Its a perfect location, perfect food, perfect staff and atmosphere. We have lived in Cornwall for 7 years now and this is our favourite place. We would go more often but its quite far from us. The staff are always very attentive but completely laid back and you never feel rushed. The food is exactly the right balance.
