Hostal Plaza de España

Van Dyck Salamanca|0.2km from Spanish Courses Colegio Delibes
After booking 2 rooms via Booking, one of the reservations of a room was cancelled 1 day before arrival. The rules of the hostel require that you return the money from this reservation only if cancellation is made 2 days in advance .... so far everything is right. The guests who would stay in the room that held the reservation arrived .... and surprised, said they had no booking day registration, either through their code issued by Booking, or by the name of the person who made the reservation. The guests have still tried to call the number indicated several times (the check in is made online)... but have not received support. They said that without booking and without the online data, nothing was done. Hosts have still tried to send the data online but failed because of the difficulty of accessing the net. They couldn't stay in the hostel and had to look for a accommodation alternative at the last hour, because from the hostel they simply turn off the phone in the face of the guests There was a complaint in the Booking that tried immediately to request reclame to the hostel ... and the answer was ... there is no problem, the rooms were occupied by the hosoeds (as can be said, if one room was cancelled and the guests who should stay in the other room had to find another room hosting?). The next day, guests called the hostel, asking for explanations for such false statement, and they received as a response that the hostel did not assume any responsibility for not taking the rooms because they did not check in correctly. I mean, first they had no reservation, then they had already reservation, but they did not assume responsibility for disappointing the despair of the guests. They just remasted the final jo saying they would charge the value of the rooms, whether they were used or not.

Hotel Bardo Recoletos Coco

Superb hotel easily accessible from the motorway and a 15 minute walk into the centre of Salamanca. Great friendly staff, superb breakfast selection comprising of a good selection of cooked meats and cheeses, plenty of cereals and an abundance of fruit and yogurts. A cooked option of bacon and scrambled eggs or fried eggs is also available all as a buffet so serve yourself. Unfortunately my cooked breakfast was cold so very disappointed. The hotel room was quiet and comfortable and was immaculately clean. This was our second stay and we will return. Parking is superb with cctv watching over .

I have to start by saying that this hotel was in an ideal location to walk around what is an absolutely beautiful city. The issue that I have with it is that we booked here as it advertised parking. The warning I would give is that the small print then states that this is situated elsewhere and is chargeable. We booked whilst still on the road and when we arrived we struggled to find the hotel as it’s not really accessible by vehicle. We ended driving up an ‘authorised vehicles only’ road just to get to it. We were then told that they had no parking and were given a map with the two nearest locations of public car parks. (The receptionist was very patient as I was none too happy at this point due to being on the road for the better part of an entire day). The issue was that there was an Easter celebration event and we spent nearly an hour then driving around trying to find somewhere to park. The room was nice but was overly hot. Due to it being their winter the AC was only kicking out hot air albeit it had been 27c during the day. The window wouldn’t close properly which normally would be good due to the heat but the noise was unbearable. People were out drinking and celebrating till nearly 5am and then the refuse collection started around 7.30am even though it was Easter Sunday. Maybe some of these issues are not directly the fault of the hotel but thought it best to mention them. Great location but beware the noise and poor access for vehicles. The staff were kind and patient and went out of their way to help us.

If you like the historical aspect, this is an old monastery or convent that has been repurposed as a hotel in the university city of Salamanca. It has a huge courtyard on a steep, but walkable, hill and is attached to other historical buildings. The room itself is large and comfortable with excellent beds and pillows. We had a French balcony that overlooked the cathedral and has a fridge and safe. The bathroom is very modern, and we loved the plush bath sheets. Though we didn't go down to it, the hotel is very near the river, also within walking distance to the Plaza Major that has lots of cafes but less retail. The whole area is filled with 15th century buildings that are cathedrals, universities or used for student housing. It is a maze of narrow streets and alleys - so besides our guided tour, we did not venture very far from the hotel during our one night stay, though we understand it to be very safe. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel. The breakfast was outstanding, as you willl note from the pictures. The hotel has a large reception and lobby area that swings around to the breakfast room. The hallways are rather dark, and it is a bit of a maze to find your room. perfect for one night, amid centuries of history.

It is located in the centre of Salamanca but up 4 flights of stairs with no lift. Rooms are pokey and very basic, doublebed tiny, No soundproofing so we were treated to the fun of a happy pair next door. They charge 10Es a night for pets, and there is no free parking. Inclusive of those charges it is over 50€s for one night. One of the worst places I have stayed.

Booked here last minute on travel through Spain. It has several options which appealed to us: family rooms with kitchenette, pets welcomes, 24 hour check-in, secure parking, walking distance to city centre. There are other options for families with small children but none/few with the above conveniences. The positives: The area is easily reachable with a drop-off in front. Underground, secure parking is right around the corner with direct elevator access to the lobby/rooms. The facilities and rooms are clean and spacious. Bathroom was modern with good quality towels. Beds were comfortable. Some other reviewers complained about the distance to the old centre but frankly its 1 km! Come on! If you are using bus transport its right across the street from the bus terminal but its not a big city terminal which usually attracts ”colourful” characters. There's several eating options at the terminal. The underground parking was great in that the spaces were very large and it was secure. The negatives: As we arrived late the garage door was closed and wouldn't open automatically with the parking ticket so my wife had to get out and walk around to the lobby to ask they remotely open it. The air-con was a little noisy. The blind on our window was stuck closed so we couldn't let any daylight in, but we were just there for sleeping and bathing. The furniture is nothing special but functional.
