Hotel Reserva Monarca

Salento|5.75km from city center
Here's what you need to know about this place. The views are absolutely stunning. Unparalleled and you cannot get them anywhere else. It is clean and well-maintained, safe and serene. It's a very cool experience- it was clearly a house and has been turned into a hotel. We stayed on the first floor and it had a little shared patio that looked out on the valley. All rooms have a great view, but I wish we would've booked the second floor where there is a private patio. You MUST rent a car- we almost didn't and if you don't, it will be a real pain to get to and from the hotel to do anything- it is not near anything (and this was not made clear to us beforehand). Breakfast is included, but it is very minimal. There are no other meals offered, so you will have to get yourself into town to get something. The staff was kind, but not super helpful. The hot tub and steam room and sauna are so-so. The hot tub was quite dirty when we went. We wanted to get in after our hike, in the early afternoon, but it was never communicated to us that there is no hot water during the day, so it was a luke-warm bath (not super enjoyable). The sauna was nice enough. This place has some serious potential, but the effort just isn't quite there. If they offered drinks or dinner it would be so nice and if there was more communication that would help- about renting a car, getting to town, hiking the valley, etc... (I can't imagine what we would've done if we didn't have our own car). Overall, I would say it's an incredibly affordable place to stay, just make sure you have your own means of getting in and out. Although I didn't give it 5 stars, I would still recommend it as a place to stay for anyone coming to the Cocora Valley. This hotel could easily be a 5 star hotel with some improvements.

Hotel Salento Real Eje Cafetero

I only recommend the suites. They are located on the 5th floor, which seems a recently renovated (or added) part of the hotel. My room was modern and spacious. The bed was fantastic, as was the shower. I also enjoyed the jacuzzi and the sitting area. Breakfast was quite nice too. The hotel is located on a quiet street, but still close to hustle and bustle of the town centre, where all the shops and restaurants are. The standard rooms I saw in the older part of the hotel did not look appealing at all. Very small, very basic, and without windows. They only have ”windows” that open up to the central atrium. I was superglad I didn't book one of those, but chose to spend a bit more and end up with an excellent room.

Salento Pequeño Hotel

I booked this hotel for 4 nights because hotels.com said it was 9.2 superb. The positive are the people working there the owner and the 3 woman and night watchman they will help you with anything laundry tours driver, another positive is the view. Very nice balcony with view of mountains, they do offer a nice breakfast with fresh fruit from the trees on the property. Strong wifi. The room has 2 beds tv small refrigerator small safe and a small desk with chair. To get to your room there is a steep gravel incline you must carry your suitcase to get to room. If you have heavy luggage or a lot if it. It is hard. No restaurant or food on property other than they serve breakfast in your room to eat on the balcony. (Small surcharge) There are other small little problems but they are manageable. I feel bad putting in these review because the people were so nice. But the most important thing is this is a basic room. Not 5stars or excellent. Would I stay there probably not because I would want to be closer to the center of town. I would pay more and make sure I got more luxuries in a hotel. If your looking for a basic room with a view outside of town at a very cheap price this is your place. Good luck. Owner has a very good restaurant in town cocina horno a couple doors down from police station. We highly recommend it.
