Wow - what a wonderful short and not long enough stay we had in the junior stable last night. By coincidence, we arrived on the beautiful drive just before one of the owners. She approached us straight away to check we were happy with everything in the cottage. At the time we hadn’t had enough time to look inside properly but wish we had the opportunity to tell her how impressed and pleased we were! My partner, who was on a business trip, only changed the booking in the morning to include myself and our toddler. When we arrived a few hours later, there was a travel cot, with bedding, in the room. We then discovered toys and a book for him too - we were so touched by the extra thought and detail put in and our little boy felt at home right away. On the bed was a hamper of cereal, coffee pods for the nespresso machine, jams, bread rolls and so much more. We were so very impressed by all of the fine attention to detail and the excellent quality of all the amenities and appliances. Everything was done to a very high standard. When we arrived there was the warm glow of a bedside lamp and calm music playing on the Amazon Alexa device. We also loved their ethos of being environmentally friendly. In the evening, we booked a table at the Wheatsheaf pub just across the road. The food was excellent - we both enjoyed two courses very much!. Nothing we asked was too much of the staff and they were very friendly. We could go on about how wonderful our stay was but need some rest after our journey back to Cornwall! We can’t wait to come back and spend more time at the wonderful Stonehenge Cottages in the future. Thank you.

Milford Hall Hotel & Spa

Salisbury|0.66km from city center
To be honest I don't know where to start, I had a business venture by the hotel and when I was looking for somewhere to book for the week I came across this place, advertised as a 4star, top notch spa hotel... looking at the website I thought wow... looks amazing.... so reluctantly paying £165 a night for bed and breakfast I went for it, I was excited, I dont stay out often. I arrived at the hotel and was somewhat a little deflated instantly to see that it was looking rather tired and they had building works going on, well that was not advertised.... oh well no worries sometimes things happen. I go to check in and the instantly I'm asked if I have a car in the car park, I mean well sure I do, most travelers have a car when staying in a hotel for a week..... OK well that will be a further £28.... Wait what? So now I'm paying to park in the tiniest carpark just so I can sleep in a ”luxury hotel” So again i pay it I don't have time to faf around now. I get my room key and of I go ready to settle in and start some relaxation, my room well run downs an understatement, the window was smashed, the light did not work and then to top it of when I went to go to bed at 2300 the door would not lock! Fantastic! I wedge a chair against the door, I'll deal with that tomorrow! So Tuesday AM I approach the reception and report the door being broken to which I'm told they will look at it and get it sorted, ok brilliant. I head to breakfast where I'm promptly asked for my room number, I give this over to be told you're not on the list have you paid.... erm yes and infact I have my invoice on me, oh OK then yes you can eat.... well thankyou I feel so privileged.... So lunchtime approaches and I decide to check with reception to see if my room is fixed.... the lady on the desk politely informed me that it could not be fixed and I quote her words ”it's OK though as you have the only key to get in there” Wait What, I'm a young female traveler travelling alone and you want me to sleep alone in a room I can't lock, erm NO. I promptly respond that I am not happy with this and hate to point out that if I'm the only one with a key how the hell did the cleaners get in! So I am given another room, I frantically, as I'm running out of lunch time hours, run up stairs, grab my belongings and head to room number 2! I go in and of course the first thing I check is... Does the door lock..... NO, I mean seriously. So back to reception I go, I'm now out of time hours and have lost all my lunch, I inform them that room does not lock either and I will be back after I finish work. Work finishes and I head to the reception and I'm given yet another room! So I head to room 3 settled in, completed some work and decided to get a bath as I suffer with a bad back, now having moved my stuff 3 times I required it... I go to run a bath, guess what there is no plug.... so I head to reception and ask for a plug, no problem we'll bring one down, amazing! So plug arrives and it does not fit, I re

Sarum College

Salisbury|0.3km from city center
When the reservation was made, we were a bit apprehensive about staying in a college dormitory, but when we arrived, the apprehension disappeared. Located directly across the street from Salisbury Cathedral, it is impossible to stay closer. The reception lady was friendly and helpful, explained the entrance code to access the rooms, offered the car park for the following day after checkout, and detailed the importance of getting the car back before the gates are locked at night. Everything in the room was spotless: bedding, bathroom, carpet, everything. The bed was hard, which seems to be the norm in the UK, but did not prevent us both from getting a good night's sleep. The college is located inside the Cathedral Close, which means that it is closed off at night. It also means that if you are out with a car after the gates are locked, your car will remain locked out until the following morning. Best to keep this in mind if you enjoy late nights out. There are no pubs, restaurants, or other hotels nearby, so there is no noise from the rowdy night crowd. The shower had plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Bath linens were clean, absorbent, and in good condition. The room had two windows so we were comfortable without air conditioning. Breakfast was fabulous, with an outstanding assortment of hot and cold options. Like in the guests rooms, everything we saw in the breakfast room was clean as a whistle. Employees kept the serving areas spotless and well-stocked. We were very surprised by the large crowd enjoying breakfast because we had neither seen nor heard any other guests at all. This was the first lodging in our 2-week visit to England and Wales, so it set a high standard for every subsequent accommodation. We loved this part of England, and if we're lucky enough to return, we will definitely stay here again.

The Lamb Inn

The Lamb Inn

Salisbury
We have visited The Lamb on several occasions & you will see from a previous review that we really liked it! Unfortunately on this occasion we were very disappointed, The Roast dinner was swimming in gravy which was extremely salty, the beef was tough and full of gristle , the potatoes hard and the cauliflower cheese didn’t taste of cheese! My Mum had the pie which was ok but the vegetables & potatoes served with it were cold , the Burger that my husband had was so over cooked it was rubbery and was nothing like the description on the menu and the chips he described as having been reheated several times! Our friend who is 95 had the scallops which was a starter portion so not going to be huge but again not great , she said they were chewy because they were over cooked and the portion even for a starter was ridiculously small!! We decided to try puddings after a disappointing lunch & to be fair the chocolate fondant was nice, but our friend decided on the Hindon mess, (Eton mess) and I think it had maybe 2/3 probably frozen strawberries as very squishy in it , very little meringue and basically a glass full of cream! She couldn’t eat it & that’s the first time I’ve ever seen her leave a pudding! & just to finish things off we ordered two black coffees which were so bitter & strong they were hard to drink, & when we got the bill they were listed as large , they didn’t even fill the small cup. As you can probably tell we really didn’t enjoy our meal, but didn’t make a fuss at the time as we were treating our elderly guests & it was embarrassing as we’d chosen to eat here. Its not a cheap place to eat so you expect a lot better than this?? As I said at the start we’ve eaten here several times and it’s been lovely, so we were extremely disappointed, New Chef?? or just a bad day?? Don’t know but after such a bad meal I don’t think we will be back 😢

Salisbury North Bishopdown

Fairy standard Premier Inn room - good value, good location and friendly service from all the staff we encountered. Plenty of parking and a few minutes walk from the park and ride, which was very useful. Breakfast perfectly acceptable - good value and the staff worked hard to keep tables clear and the food topped up, which was appreciated. The trade off was that, even through the room and hallway appeared to be freshly painted, there was a lot of black mould around the window and in the bathroom and a very rusty towel rail which made everything feel a bit run down and grubby. The room was very hot and smelt unpleasantly musty. The window could only open a small amount so didn't help with either of these minor issues. (We did know there was no air con in advance but hadn't anticipated the mustiness.) Also, the noise from the person in the room above returning after midnight was very loud - I genuinely think they were just walking around but the sound proofing was non-existent and it woke me and my two children up which was frustrating as it sounded like they were going to fall through the ceiling. Lesson learnt to ask for an upstairs room if possible in future! Fine for a one night stay but I'll be thinking twice about which Premier Inn we choose in future to avoid some of these issues.
