Best Hotels in Salou

My husband and I had a week away from Barcelona staying at this adults only hotel. The reception staff were all friendly but especially Bea who was extremely helpful with things to go and see whilst we were here as the weather was not the best. Rooms were really nice, clean and tidy, with comfortable beds, but the pillows not so comfy. Could have done with a table on the balcony too. Breakfast was a good choice with the option to order freshly cooked too and the staff were friendly and kept the place ticking over nicely. The spa was a bit of a disappointment as it only has steam room and sauna and a jacuzzi for 8 people, so we only used once and the games room was not available durin the week due to conference. Fortunately we had our own cards and dominoes. Overall a good visit to Salou, where we visited Cambrils, Tarragona, Reus and Sama Park out of tourist season. I am sure it would be buzzing come Easter onwards. Thanks to the Magnolia Team for the great overall service.

Where do I start….We visited El Paso around 9 years ago prior to having children with my family and we all had an excellent holiday! So I didn’t have any apprehensions about booking early this year to take my 2 children (3 & 1) . As it got closer to the time I saw some reviews and started to panic as we hadn’t had a bad word to say about the hotel but wondered had it gone down hill?? Needless to say we went with an open mind and there was no need for any worry at all!! One of the only reasons I haven’t given 5 stars was the check in. We arrived at 11am and check in took my husband around an hour (I think this was more other people maybe faffing around a bit as when he actually got to the counter he was there 5 minutes and it was done) but it took us 3 separate occasions of going up to ask if the room was ready at 3pm before we could actually get in. There are lockers you can put you’re luggage in for €10 but there was no way ours would of fit in 1 so we didn’t fancy spending €20 !! So we hung around the reception for 4 hours (a beautiful reception) but with 2 children we found we were having to juggle one person staying with the luggage and the other entertaining the children. Check in aside the rest of the holiday was all we could of asked for! Room : We had requested a quiet room and we had been put the other side of the pool away from all the bars which was perfect…the room was beautiful. Bunk beds for our 3year old which he loved (although the top bunk is not safe for a younger child as the side very easily comes off!) but this didn’t effect us as we had a cot for our 1 year old. The room has everything you would need for a holiday..storage, bathroom, comfy bed and a balcony. The only downside was there were a few schools visiting when we were there and they had placed them in the same block as us so it definatley wasn’t a quiet room ! You could hear the teachers trying to keep them quiet at 11pm at night but it’s not great when you have young children trying to sleep…maybe the hotel should have a separate block if they know they are going to have a lot of school children in??? Pool : the pool is a absolutley huge and very clean. The water is a perfect crystal blue! The pirate shop was a firm favourite for our little boy. Although they are a little strict with allowing sunglasses in the pool (you need them as it’s so bright haha!) the lifeguards make you feel very safe. There is a vast area of sand around the pool which is perfect for the children to play in….(actually made ours happy enough that he thought he’d been to the beach so we didn’t have to venture to Salou!) Food : I saw a lot of reviews with people complaining about the food. We didn’t have a problem at all. Yes it can be samey, but considering they have such a large demographic to cater for I think they do very well with what they do have! You can always find something to eat. On Oct 22th, 2023 we were supposed to check in at the Best Da Vinci hotel. Having a free cancellation till 20.10, we wrote to the e-mail in advance about geting a room on the top floor. However, there was no response. At the time of check-in we were offered a room on the 3rd floor out of 6, we asked for a higher floor. We were told that they would try to help us, then we would have to wait. When we came to the reception after 1.5 hours, another employee said that there were no rooms on the 6th floor, come back on Tuesday (24.10). After about 20 minutes we decided to come to the reception, by that time the first employee already came back. They said that since the hotel closes its season on 28.10, rooms on the upper floors won't be available (although people continued to live on the upper floors till closing date 28.10), also they said that our room category was a standard room, not a studio and here are no standard rooms above the 3rd floor. We could pay extra for the room on higher floor, but it was suggested by SENIOR RECEPTIONIST in a rude manner to take the room on the 3rd floor and be satisfied with that. Disappointed we left, but the next day we decided to try our luck again because we saw people on the upper floors getting checked in. On 23.10 having approached to another employee, she answered that the change of rooms is carried out from 12 to 15 and left to specify something. Having returned back with a SENIOR employee, who was dissatisfied that we came again loudly saying ”AGAIN???”, she repeated that the number above the 3rd floor won't be given and if you DO NOT like something, PACK YOUR BAGS AND LEAVE FOR EXAMPLE TO THE NEIGHBOURING MAGNOLIA HOTEL. At the same time we were ready to pay extra just to get a room on the top floor, but nothing was not offered to us, but simply sent us away. For the first time in all our travels we were shocked by the rudeness of front desk employees, absolutely not interested (especially the SENIOR receptionist). Money doesn't matter, you can't pay and take what you want, you need to live in the room dedicated to you. In addition, we got the impressed that they do not speak English well and are more kind to Spanish-speakers. About the room itself, it's nice. But if you got a room in the main building, then be prepared that in rooms where the beds are near the window overlooking the yard, will be very noisy in the morning, because you can hear the slamming doors from ALL sides and from ALL floors. Pros: nice studios, good housekeeping, good food. Cons: rudeness and unprofessionalism of the SENIOR receptionist, noise in rooms because of poor noise insulation, no towels for the beach available.

Booked this hotel for a week away for me and my mum, booked twin room but made as a double with double sheets etc. Asked to have it changed to twins, sorted so not too much of a pain. Womens toilets in the lobby - one door doesn't lock and the other has a huge gap in it We had a early flight and as we were half board we asked for a bag of a couple of bits to take away.. after all this was paid for. Reception said to ask the eve before in the restaurant.. the restaurant staff said we would need to take bits that eve. Other customers were told the restaurant was open at 7am however Reception did not know about this.. clearly lack in communication. Easy to get the bus to Salou and Tarragona... recommend Tarragona, ramblers Road is full of shops and cafes lovely place to visit.

Stayed here before so we already knew it was a great hotel in a good location and yet again we had a great stay. Food, rooms, pool, entertainment and all staff were yet again excellent. Nothing too much trouble and any issues were dealt with quickly. Well worth the money you pay.

Stayed here for a short 4 night break. Our grandkids loved the the kids disco the food was great and plenty of choice the restaurant was spotless and staff were very friendly. Except for the lady on the door at night who always seemed angry. The manager was always very friendly and always smiling. The hotel reception staff were really knowledgeable and really friendly. We were visiting the port adventura park and the hotel is only 20 Miniutes walking away. The local shop is also 15 Miniutes walking away (tip if going to shop go out back door at swimming pool. We can definitely recommend this hotel and will come back again.

The hotel was so clean and modern I loved the smell of the scent they had as soon as you walk in reception was really relaxing and reception staff were really friendly! Hotel room was huge and also really clean it was great for us as a family and my daughter had lots of space to play when we was up in the room, the beds were really comfy and we all had the best sleep every night during our stay I loved that it was a full queen size bed and not 2 single beds pushed together like most hotels. I wish we would have had a pool view as we didn’t have any view it was just the back street of the hotel. The restaurant was also lovely and the staff made us feel very welcome everytime we arrived, we was full board and the food was the usual buffet style some nights I couldn’t find anything I was keen on as it was a lot of fish also didn’t have much of a children’s option so my daughter lived of pasta and sauce for the fortnight but other than that it was fine. The fresh omelettes and pastries in the morning were really nice but we missed pork sausages!! The reason why I have given the review 3 stars was because of the entertainment and bar facilities On holiday we are used to more going on in the day and especially in the evening it didn’t really have any atmosphere at all and really let the hotel down We came to realise when we arrived that there was no mini disco for the children or evening entertainment only on Fridays and Saturdays and even on that night it wasn’t worth going to because it was late and our daughter (2) would be bored waiting for it to start with nothing else going on The hotel had so many families whilst we were staying and there could of been so much more the hotel could have done We usually like to go down dressed for the evening and have a drink in a bar or at the pool bar The hotel closed the pool area at 7pm with no access at all as they locked the door to that area and the children’s park The tapas restaurant attached to the hotel turned us a away as we didn’t want food so there was nowhere for us to go and relax with a drink whilst we waited for the restaurant to open which was a late time of 7:30pm This really did disappoint me and my family and did ***** away the holiday feeling for us We ended up having to leave the hotel every night when we would of preferred to spend more time in our hotel due to how nice everything else was Entertaining and atmosphere really lets down the hotel if it had these facilities then we would have had the perfect holiday

This is our second time going back to this hotel. We have been to Salou for the last three years in October but could not get this hotel last year. It was a pleasure to recently stay there again. I have a detailed review from my first stay so you can get the finer details there. However the food was excellent in 2021 but it was actually better this time round and we had some exceptional nights in the restaurant. We have come to the conclusion that going forward when we go to Salou, the Olympus Palace is the only place to stay. Staff, customer service, cleaning of our room, Food and entertainment was excellent. Well done to all involved

The location of this Hotel is perfect, close to supermarkets, the beach and several restaurants and bars. You can walk quietly around. The hotel is clean and the rooms are spacious.
