Horrible stay, cockroaches, very basic, shower not working properly

Well located, but tired premises. Somewhere between a hostel & a hotel. The room we stayed in was very tired & very steep stairs (60 ) with no lift. Excellent location 5 minutes from the square

Since we arrived tried to contact ******* that we were upset about the room but due to poor internet connection could not get thru. Had to walk steep stairs to the 3rd floor, of an old building, huffing n puffing, rattan on chairs tattered, dilapidated mattress, filthy bacteria laden string to pull flush, toilet cover cracked, insecure seat, lumpy pillows, old stained mirror, breakfast laid out in old plastic containers.Horrible! Pics on website deceiving, upset! Only saving grace were staff and lady who cooked breakfast offered us scrambled eggs on second last morning.breakfast area colourful but had shoddy curtains and laundry sheets - we had no idea what we were getting into as we booked a package air and hotel. We have booked a lot of travel with ******* but this was the worst. Moved to second floor mattress better. Imagine walking up and down those steep stairs - had to take a break to catch our breath. Not used to these standards. Upsetting experience.

Good overall

The location is excellent, within walking distance of all the museums and the square. The staff were helpful as well. Breakfast was adequate but basic. The main issues with our stay related to the hygiene of our room. When we arrived, the shower/bathroom had not been cleaned properly - there were hairs all over the floor and walls. The bathroom was very small, and the toilet rarely flushed properly. The beds were very uncomfortable and the noise from the street was very loud. Overall, the location was superb but we wouldn't stay again
