Inn at the Art Center

Located on an old chicken later transformed into an art center and some rooms. All around is a lot of 'art' that is well past its sell by date and looks like it has lost its shine and just makes the place look untidy now. There are also some resident shops but none were open when we stayed. The room was small and dark plus the bed made it even more smaller. The shower and toilet were off the bedroom area up a couple of steps and were decorated in the Flintstones style ! There was a fridge and coffee machine in the room plus access to a communal kitchen with breakfast item available at no cost. There were seat out side the room but they were covered in dust and dirt so not worth sitting outside. The whole place just looks unkept. Would I stay again.....No

I loved the peacefulness of the the Chicken Farm” at night! Our rooms were WONDERFUL, clean and beautifully decorated in the local art, and had all the amenities. Both Chastity and Sabrina were so warm and personable it was almost like staying with family. Wish I could give it 10 stars!!

We stayed here for my honeymoon. The inn was wonderful to work with even gave us a late check out the next day. It’s a beautiful eclectic place, had a nice little self-serve breakfast bar next-door. The bathroom in our unit was absolutely gorgeous.

A real disappointment. It looks really cool in the pictures, but it turned out to be a dump. We didn't stay, as my wife would not even consider staying there. It was as if we were driving into a slum area.

The Inn at the Art Center is a charming and well-appointed bed and breakfast nestled within the Chicken Farm Art Center, a group of about thirty artist studios that are part of a thriving art community in San Angelo. We stayed in the Santa Fe room, which was roomy, spotless, and had a very comfortable bed. It was truly an relaxing oasis. The only thing that we will do differently when we return is to be there on the weekend. As it was during the week, most of the studios are closed; however, the peace and quiet were nice. One evening, we did meet Maura, owner of MauraEyes, who both has a studio and lives on the property. She was kind enough to give her a tour of her house, which is a studio in and of itself, as well as introduce us to her dog and numerous cats. Our hosts, Chasity and Juston Oakes, were prompt in answering questions and very accommodating. Originally, San Angelo was anticipated to be a one-off road trip; however, given what we experienced in the area and, particularly, our stay at The Inn of the Art Center, we look forward to returning for a long weekend so that we can embrace the full Chicken Farm Art Center experience, as well as dine at Roots at the Silo.

Stopped on our way to New Braunfels from Albuquerque. Great little restaurant on property, Roots at the Silo. Only open for dinner and brunch on certain days. No breakfast. A bit of a quirky setup, but rooms were clean and we enjoyed our stay. Owner was very friendly and easy to work with. Would definitely stay here again!

I quaint little hidden getaway with an artistic flair. Very nice staff. I will come back for sure to try all the different rooms.

First of all, the photos of the room we stayed in were far more complimentary than the actual room. OK, I can handle that. Nothing was said before hand about the narrow hall with steps leading up into the bathroom, which wasn't great. The shower was very nice, although the pebbled base wasn't too comfortable to stand on. OK, I can handle that. The clincher for me is that the two doors with outside access had only a little turn lock to lock each door. NO dead bolt. I think this is atrocious in this day and time. The owner said she had never had issues, but it only takes one. The property isn't in a nice part of town either. Also, the steps leading up to the back door which is off the parking area has very rough cedar planks as stair rails. If one were to stumble or start to fall, grabbing onto a rough stair rail would result in tons of splinters or cut up hands. Luckily, we didn't need the rails much. The toilet area and the shower had grab bars, but the bathroom wasn't ADA compliant, so I had to wonder. Oh well.... The trim outside our room door was rotting. This property could be far nicer, but it needs upgrades. I'm guessing the other "rave" reviews are people who just don't think about these issues. Oh well.....We won't be staying here again.

Rather a unique property. The Santa Fe room was comfortable, roomy and pleasant. A little bit dark inside.
