Loved it here

I loved that this was an inexpensive option that was clean and comfortable. It wasn’t so bad to use a restroom across the hall and they had clean showers. I loved that we had a sink and microwave in our room with closet space and space for food prep. There was a room fan that worked well and we opened the window for some fresh air. The entrance is an unassuming door on the street, so it can be a little easy to miss. My main issue was noise. Sunday night was the worst with people coming in late at all hours and making so much noise in the hallways, which seemed to magnify it because they are tiled not carpet. Also, there was street construction outside our window with a jackhammer going on at 1 AM in the morning. There were only two pillows on the bed, which meant that since we had two people, I didn’t have an extra pillow to put over my head to help block out the noise. So the first night my sleep quality was very poor. When I reached out to the management, they said they couldn’t help with an additional pillow, but one of the staff members found me a decorative pillow to use. I also bought ear plugs, and so the subsequent nights weren’t so bad and I was able to get decent sleep. Overall, if you’re trying to save money, this is a decent option.

Bad: the number to get “help” was super off putting. First, I called to get help with my room’s access pin and “we’ll call you right back and reset your pin” turned into waiting roughly 10 min and I had to call THEM back for the pin. Then the smart TV wouldn’t let me log in to anything or even update apps on the tv that needed it. So AGAIN called the “help” line intermittently for TWO PLUS HOURS to get resolution, with absolutely ZERO help. Finally gave up…. But they were basically like “sucks to suck” and wouldn’t even in the slightest comp me for their absolute trash service. I’ve had more help from Air BnB owners that were on the opposite end of the country than these people. The central AC, that’s supposed to be “reasonable,” on one of the hottest days of early March I can remember in the last 2 years, felt like it was at least 79. now, I prefer sub 70… but I understand I’m abnormal in that sense 75 is reasonable. Inconvenient: the ceiling fan kept turning off randomly and I couldn’t detach the remote from the wall, so when I was actually comfy in bed and had to turn it back on, it was annoying. The urinal being broken and people not being considerate and peeing on the toilet seats. The windows don’t stay open on own. Good: very clean, the showers didn’t give me the ick or feel I’d get athletes foot or something related. The room mirror light was a good touch. The bed was very similar to my home’s one (firmer end of medium for those that are particular about beds)

For the price you pay, this is a great option. It is definitely bare bones, but you have all the basics you need. There are some rooms that are more exposed to the street noise than others. If you are concerned about noise, make sure to work with the staff to get a more insulated room. There are shared showers as advertised. The showers are up to date hotel grade showers that are gendered and lock from the inside. I felt safe and had no problem using them as a woman. I barely saw any other guests while there. I would recommend if you are on a longer trip to pack a smaller bag for your nights here to make it easier to get up the stairs and store clothes. The location is excellent and accessible to all things downtown. The hotel staff was very responsive and friendly vua app communication. Parking at park it on market was reasonably priced.

This property was not advertised on ******* correctly. It’s basically a hostel with a shared bathroom.

This self-managed hostel is right in the Gaslamp area of SD which was great for night life and transportation. The property managers are very communicative and responsive to questions. My room was well kept, expect there was a wall light without anywhere to plug it in and a slight draft from a broken window. Otherwise, the other amenities in the room were great.

The property met my needs perfectly. It was conveniently located, clean and convenient to access. Note there are no onsite staff, checkin is virtual as is all communications. The 2 Queen unit i was in had two seperate bedrooms, and an in-unit private bathroom/shower. It was clean and recently renovated with simple, functional finishes.
