Chancellor Hotel on Union Square

The hotel's location is extremely convenient, right next to Union Square with a supermarket downstairs. It's about a 10-minute walk to the nearest BART station, and shopping and dining in this area are very accessible. However, the exterior is currently under renovation, making it a bit hard to find. Since it's an older hotel, there is no air conditioning, and the sounds from the fan and refrigerator can be quite loud at night, so light sleepers might want to avoid it. As a solo traveler, I found it to be great value for money. I had booked it at a higher rate previously, but Trip.com honored their price-match guarantee and refunded the difference, which was fantastic.

This is an old hotel with a really great location near Union Square in San Francisco. Although it has some age to it, the interior is clean and comfortable. I was also very pleased with the complimentary cookies and lemon water in the lobby. The coffee machine, hot water, and microwave were all very convenient to use.

Very good central hotel. The staff were very friendly. Coffee, chocolate, water, apples, and cookies in the lobby. Very comfortable beds. They made for an incredible stay in San Francisco. 10/10 overall.

Great location, right near Union Square, which makes getting around super convenient. Plus, no issues with homeless people in the immediate area. The facilities do show their age a bit, especially the elevator and the fan in the room. Housekeeping was good though, and they cleaned daily. The front desk and service staff were also very friendly and helpful. The only downside is that the soundproofing in the room isn't great.

It truly lives up to its reputation as a century-old establishment! The service was excellent. The hotel has a wonderful vintage feel, and the decor in both the lobby and rooms is very stylish. The lobby offers complimentary coffee, tea, snacks, and fruit, making you feel right at home.

The Chancellor Hotel on Union Square has a great location, just 100 meters from Union Square, and within walking distance to Chinatown, Trader Joe's, and Macy's. The hotel's service is also excellent, with thoughtful attention to detail. When I checked in, I mentioned my knee pain, and later, when I asked for directions to Chinatown, they showed me a flat route, avoiding the steep hills. Although there's no breakfast, the lobby always provides hot water, fruit, and cookies. The public facilities are a bit old, but the rooms are nice and quiet. Many elderly European and American guests stay here, making it a great value-for-money choice.
