Check in was easy. Room was comfortable. Great location around lots of restaurants and bars so it can get noisy. Water fountain at the end of hall and ice bags. Café attached to hotel for breakfast. Relaxing lounge to get away from the city noise.

The whole building and rooms are very old, there is a bad smell in the room, and the nearby neighborhoods are also dirty. The only advantage is that it is very close to downtown and within walking distance.

The room and the bathroom were both super clean - the staff was friendly and the quirky amenities were super cool! The location was perfect, we were able to walk everywhere, which was amazing! The only thing I’d point out is the smell, which could be due to the age of the hotel - and although the shower and toilet had good water pressure, the sink did not. But overall it was a great experience and will for sure be staying here again during our next trip.

The hotel's beat literary theme is fun. It's clean, quiet, in a safe neighborhood with a good (expensive) sushi bar around the corner and a diner down the street and a good coffee shop downstairs adjacent to the lobby. Bed is comfortable, TV is fine, and the price is usually reasonable. Cable cars and North Beach and Chinatown and City Center all within an easy wallk.

Great location, the hotel has personality, the rooms are ample and clean, and Gitanjali, the manager, did some magic at the front desk to get me a quiet room. I love coming back to this hotel.
