The Fitzgerald Hotel

The hotel has an old-fashioned charm, but it's close to amenities. It's clean. The young man at the front desk was very kind. He told us where to park, as it's impossible on site. Breakfast was basic... like many hotels here, I get the impression. But overall it was good, except for a small room for two adult beds. It's not far from Chinatown, which is great, and the square.

The price is reasonable and includes a buffet breakfast. There's an elevator, a really old-fashioned Titanic-style one you can experience. Although the room is small, it's clean and tidy. The location is excellent, with Union Square nearby and the cable car turnaround right there.

The elevator was manual, and while the whole place was a bit old, it was clean and comfortable!

It was fairly clean, but the facilities are a bit dated. It's about a ten-minute walk to Union Square, but the Tenderloin district to the south has a higher risk factor.

Outdated software and hardware

After traveling across the US for over ten days, this hotel was by far the most uncomfortable, most expensive, and least value-for-money place we stayed! First off, it was incredibly noisy outside, making it impossible to sleep well. The front desk service was mediocre at best; one person, in particular, seemed completely devoid of emotion. The breakfast area was old and dated, and the food was very uninspired! Overall, it was quite a disappointing experience!

The elevator doors are heavy and manual. It's impossible to close them quietly, so if you're sensitive to noise, I'd recommend a room far from the elevator. However, given the narrow floors, it might be the same in other rooms.
