4-night stay. Very tired decor, no a/c, extremely modest "continental" breakfast (included.) We had suite #2, which had a very small bed and lumpy pillows, a small living room, a teeny bathroom. Fortunately, the windows opened for air. We were in town for our daughter's baby shower, so we were busy and didn't need to spend much time at the club. Here was my biggest complaint to the manager: "During the first three nights, we had no problem with the cleaning service provided. However, on the fourth night, Monday, August 18, 2025, after we had spent the entire day out and about including a wonderful dinner at a Michelin one-star, we returned to find our room in a shambles. The bed had not been made up. There had been no straightening up nor vacuuming. My husband's wine glass from the upstairs bar the night before was still there. The bathroom was not cleaned. The only thing that someone had done was to give us fresh towels and take away the old ones. It was after 9pm, and there was no one was at your front desk, but my husband searched around and found someone to give him a roll of toilet paper and a box of tissues - both of which had run out but not replenished by your staff." I didn't receive a reply until I complained to MY university club, in Santa Barbara. Then the manager emailed me, apologizing but strangely claiming there was "miscommunication." What sort of communication is necessary to train a cleaning employee to give your guests toilet paper when it runs out?

One of the oldest hotels in the city, with great ambience, wood panelling, lots of historic photographs and paintings on all the walls. The bar and restaurant on the top floor is a great place to relax, with a good selection of cocktaols and panoramic views across to the impressive skyline of the Financial District. The rooms are comfortable but are only fan cooled, so ca get a little hot at night. The location at the top of Nob Hill, next to two cable car lines is unbeatable.

Staff was not welcoming, even though my stay was a reciprocal stay from another Kemper-managed club. No one bothered to show me the facilities (I couldn't tell you where the alleged pool and gym is). Very limited restaurant hours, and there is no food available when the restaurant is closed. I did manage to get one full meal (after being chastised for not having made the dinner reservation no one told me I needed) and the food was great. It's a lovely old building (no AC) in a very nice location. It's big city noisy, which I don't mind. But it's no fun staying at a place where you feel like you are in the way, and no one has any interest in helping you with the most basic hospitality needs.
