There are many structures in Italy that date back to 1100 and earlier. Some have been well restored and repurposed for the comfort of travellers who want to be surrounded by beauty, enriched with culture and treated like royalty. This is one of those properties. None of this could be possible without people: Helena, the architect of the project, her gracious husband and partner Eduardo and Laura, Eduardo's mother, a sommelier, great host and keeper of recipes I am trying to acquire. I registered for three days, stayed for five and left because I had other commitments. Location is ideal for the Brunello experience in Montalcino, the Pecorino cheese phenomenon of Pieza (look for the shop jammed with eager customers), the compelling hill town of Montepulciano and numerous other Tuscany villages, restaurants and lovely folks. Terrific value, very comfortable and well appointed interior design. The villa is in the beautiful hills just outside the pleasant town of Buonconvento.

The concept is to renovate village houses into hotel rooms while providing breakfast and other amenities in another building. The rooms were nice, not great, but I still loved the concept. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the ”Palazzo” a few hundred meters away on a semi-covered outdoor patio. Breakfast was excellent but in late September it can feel like camping out. Shivering while sipping your coffee is not quite a luxury experience. We were here on a bike tour. We have toured throughout Europe and many times in Italy. This is the very first hotel I have ever encountered which charges to store bikes in a garage: 5 euros per bike per night. We were there for 6 days. I could understand if we had e-bikes that needed to be plugged into a power source, but ours were just leaned against the wall - for 5 euros each per night. Also be aware that the pool is off limits unless you are staying in the Palazzo. And the nice outdoor patio, you can only use it if you buy drinks from the bar. Lastly the staff at the front desk were thoroughly disagreeable. It was as if they didn't understand that we were the guests and their job was to welcome and assist us, not that we asked for much more than room keys. Having said that, the restaurant staff were gracious, friendly and accommodating. Again, I loved the concept, but the execution needs some work. Would I stay here again? Nope.

Structure in the historic centre of Pienza, from an old monastery, service and top-top reception, should only be equipped with some rooms with a 4-star accessory (kit courtesy, But for the rest, it is a nice place. The swimming pool with a wonderful view, a restaurant with customer service and care at the highest levels (good to all the boys and the owner) even if used for a dish, a fantastic breakfast with so many local products. To return absolutely.

We booked a week in this facility. What to say ... was all spectacular! The beautiful, wide room (although it would need a new renovated) and above all very clean. Breakfast really good: wonderful cakes, different mornings, salty cakes, sauces and cheese with hot bread, pancakes ( sofas, which my husband loved). The small but very beautiful pool, we used it some afternoon to look for a little cold. The pool fabrics are provided by the facility. Very comfortable and available staff: we felt really cockooted (especially a couple of Campania staff boys with whom we often stopped talking, and who sometimes advised us). All really very nice, it's a pity that the holiday is over ... Compliments for this nice reality, made especially by young people, and we hope to come back soon!

I booked a classic room, not in the main building, But the website did not explain this situation, and the other rooms in the main building are more beautiful, and it feels more advanced, it feels like a hotel. The classic room type is like a homestay, unlike the feeling of a hotel. It is a few steps away from the main building. There are two rooms in the classic room type. There is a public living room. It has to share the living room part with the guests in another room. Although the living room is basically not used... But it is not the feeling of a five-star four-star hotel at all. Although the hotel staff is courteous and the service is very good, I feel not satisfied with this room here, and I don’t attach expectations, because it seems to live in B&B. The room is clean, Breakfast to walk to the main building of the hotel opposite the place, not in the main building, but very close... Loved the idyllic landscape and old world architecture. The staff were friendly and helpful with information. The place seems remote surrounded by the Tuscan countryside, although the town of Sinalunga is just a few minutes drive away. A car is recommended. Towns of Pienza and Montepulciano are only 20-25 minutes drive. The place is in a different world, and that is part of its charm. The reception and rooms are quite spread out, so it will not be a typical hotel experience where you roll your luggage into the elevators or have ice machines down the hall. For me that, that made it even more special, but maybe not for those who prefer a little more western style convenience. That being said, the facilities are surprisingly modern.

I instigated this trip to Tuscany with my mom because she’s never been, and to the Rosewood specifically because I’ve always enjoyed my stays in London. And Castiglion del Bosco didn’t disappoint, in the slightest. The staff was so unbelievably kind and thoughtful… even when we had a slight issue with our beautiful room, they were so attentive and proactively upgraded us so we were comfortable and happy. Their attention to detail leaves you feeling completely taken care of. And the resort is exactly what you come for. The guest relations, housekeeping, spa, and winery staff were so lovely, my mom was on cloud 9! Can’t wait to come back. Thank you!
