There is nothing boutique about this place. Stayed for one night before starting a G Adventures tour.. room was basic but comfortable enough.. if you are starting a tour here bring food as nothing available at hotel except for coffee & you’ll be on the road early & hungry. This place is fine if you just need a shower & a bed..

We had a really nice room in this hotel, 2 bathrooms and a lounge area with fridge thrown in. Only downside was that the hotel was on a main road a a 25 minute walk from the tourist centre of town. Again we were lucky with a rear facing room, so got a good night's sleep. I gather the hotel does serve a breakfast. But we were only staying one night and got up early to tour the town, so didn't get time to sample the breakfast, which for us was at an additional charge. We were able to leave our bags securely until.it was time for us to move to our next location.

A horribly unpleasant stay. The room was so so hot with no natural air coming in. It was so small we could hardly move around. It was very unclean too, I can do basic but can’t do unclean. Felt like it needed a deep clean. Got no sleep because of how hot it was. Pictures on the website are nothing like the hotel.

Very basic room with boarded up windows and very low light. Drain in bathroom cast bad odor throughout. Safe was not bolted to any object and could just be carried away. Front desk staff variable some excellent but first thing in am disinterested and watching videos on phone. Breakfast poor. Room was very clean. Area a bit rough and train very loud in morning.

We were booked with Gadventures for 2 nights upon arrival in San Jose. The room was on the main floor. It was old, dirty, tiny and had 2 cots with thin mattresses. We were appalled. We also spent the last night of our adventure here before flying home. After much complaining, we received a decent room on the second floor. The staff is very nice and helpful but it doesn't make up for the crappy room upon arrival. We didn't eat breakfast here thinking the kitchen is likely not clean either. I would never choose to stay here.

This hotel feels like a homey auberge or inn. The rooms are largely different (I have now stayed in three), comfortable and clean, set in a higgly piggly design. Staff let you in and out, so you feel secure in a place that, for all its love of rice and beans, encloses its homes with fences and gates. Most important? The staff is incredibly attentive and helpful.

Our experience was basically very good. We stayed there at the beginning and at the end of our trip to Costa Rica. The second time we were in a room upstairs and had a problem with the grout (brown color) staining the white towels in the bathroom and we were accused of staining the towels with makeup. Solutions would be to seal the grout and/or provide hooks to hang towels on.

We had just a short stay at the hotel. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was enjoyable to have a shower with some hot water! I would recommend this hotel. it was in walking distance of many good eating places and little bars! We enjoyed our stay

Absolutely awful. No hot water for two of three days. My bathroom flooded one day, there was no response to complaints from staff. VERY small rooms. No shampoo was provided or available. There are no doubt nicer places to stay.
