Clean and tidy with the most stunning view of the whole of Sandown beach from the window. It was an ever-changing view...better than TV anyway. Good food, plenty of choice and variety. Staff welcoming and helpful. Only down side is no outside space but with the whole beach and esplanade in front maybe that's not a problem.

They made our holiday an absolute pleasure. We were welcomed on arrival on our coach and our luggage was taken to our room while we checked in. We settled down with a cup of tea and a lovely view over the beach and sea. The room was tidy and clean and this was done each day to a high standard. Our first meal was excellent, as were all meals we had there. The menu was different each day and presented something for everyone. The service from the restaurant staff was second to none. We were very well looked after. The bar served a nice variety of beers etc and at a good price. Overall we were very pleased with our stay there. I cannot find anything that we didn't like about it and I would like to thank the restaurant staff for their attention, particularly Kelly who was our designated waitress who went the extra mile when serving us. But Laura and her team worked very hard to ensure everyone was happy. Like I say, the food was lovely and the breakfasts were just what we wanted to get a good start for our days exploring. All in all, great value for money.

I have just returned from this hotel after a 5 night coach holiday. The hotel is clean and well decorated and in an excellent position facing the sea and only meters from the Beach and very close to the pier. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food is very good and served promptly. I would certainly recommend staying here. The front at Sandown is run down with several derelict buildings but that is not the fault of this Hotel. I would happily stay again, bar prices are reasonable

Great hotel right on the seafront. Lovely staff and food was tasty. Very reasonably priced. I was in a single room at the back of the hotel, but was comfortable and clean. Only issue was that the bed was against the wall of next doors bathroom, not pleasant.

We are so glad we chose this hotel rather than the Premier Inn next door. The lounge, bar and entertainment venue were great. The whole hotel was clean, tidy and the staff were excellent. It is used for coach parties but we had the whole hotel to ourselves, during the day, which was brilliant! Great value for money too.

The hotel is very tired dingy the rooms quit small with some showers over the bath which makes it very dangerous for older people. The food we found was disgusting overcooked vegetables tough meat dishes and the fish which was supposed to be poached was like cardboard French onion soup was pale tasteless and greasy. We were reprimanded for being 10 min late by a very rude waitress and told we were not allowed starters because we were late even though there were guests arriving after we sat down. Would highly recommend you not to use this hotel, Also the lift broke down which meant climbing four quite steep staircases a terrible experience never to be repeated
Response from Property: We are sorry you have not enjoyed your stay but you have massively inflated expectations of what a 3 star coaching hotel offers. We do not cook to order we cook to the times given for dinner, and if you turn up 30 minutes late for your meal it could be overcooked. You were not 10 minute late but 30 minutes late. We have plently of walk in showers and had you bothered to ask the coach company you would have been allocated one of these prior to arrival. Expecting us to be able to provide this upon check in reflects an enormous sense of entitlement. All the staff and guests who worked on your station in the restaurant were pleased you chose to not attend the meals anymore as you unpleasant attitute was ruining the experience for other guests. Your coach operator has reassured us that from speaking to the driver and the other guests who stayed at the same time as yourself that we more than meet the standards they expect. Also with the exeption of the photo of the bathroom, the photos you have posted are NOT of the Trouville Hotel or taken FROM the Trouville Hotel so should not be attached to this review.

The hotel is well situated in Sandown on the Isle of Wight and appear to cater mainly for coach parties. The room was clean and well presented on our arrival but that was the last time we saw a bath mat. The bed was made each day with the towels changed sometimes and the room was not ever vacuumed. There was a kettle and mugs with tea and coffee available which is always a plus point. Breakfast was cereals, juice and porrige to help yourself and then tea and coffee ordered at the table where you then placed your order for eggs, full english or kippers with any combination accomodated. The bacon on our first day was dried and only slightly improved during our stay. The eggs also tended to be cooked hard although my poached eggs were not too bad. Dinner was a different selection each day and it appeared to be a selection of pretty tastless pre-prepared foods but vegetables came seperately and were generally a nice selection. Needless to say we were not bowled over by the Compass Hospitality Ownership and when I overheard staff speaking. they were not happy either which perhaps reflected in their interest .

This was a 'Turkey and Tinsel' type short break and was very enjoyable. Reception was very efficient. Reception area was clean and welcoming. Our bags were taken to our rooms. Tea and biscuits and a welcome information talk on arrival. Rooms were warm and clean. Beds were soft. We were first floor with an amazing sea view. Insulation was good, no noise from other rooms. There was a TV, good lighting and tea coffee facilities. Nice clean bathroom and good shower/bath. Breakfast and dinner were very good with prompt polite and friendly staff. There is a good hotel bar and lounge area. Evening entertainment in the 'ballroom' was enjoyable with good singers Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. For them , the audience was probably a bit unresponsive but they were entertaining and professional. The esplanade further down is quite dilapidated with a burned out and vandalised Ocean Hotel and other similar buildings. The Trouville is close to the pier where there is a nice bar called Scruffy Jack's. Best (only) nearby pubs are the Castle in Fitzroy Street and The Comical in St.John's Road off the High Street. In the High Street is the Old Corner Bank with a reputable restaurant. The Pier is closed till Spring. Good place for walkers. I went east along the front and up to the fort and then along to the Yarborough monument. West took me along the esplanade to Shanklin. Bus service is very good and stops are very close to the hotel . Easy buses west to Shanklin and Ventnor . Enjoyable stay at the Trouville. They are very good at what they do.

The hotel obviously relies on coach party groups. We were a member of such a group. Dining room management let the hotel down. Tables were crammed in with the backs of chairs touching the chairs of the tables behind. Diners had to take their seats in sequence because there was no space to pass. The waiters delivered food to the end of the row of tables and plates had to be passed hand-to-hand along the row. In a way this was nostalgic to me and reminded me of the 1960's school dinners. Butlins holiday camp, and the army in Aldershot. An obvious solution is to copy what is done on cruise ships. Have two sittings, say 6.00pm and 8.00pm. The room was comfortable and bathroom good. The single small lift could not really cope with the large number of elderly and infirm guests.
Response from Property: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry you feel the restaurant let the hotel down. When working at capacity our restaurant is tight and we do rely on people to sit sensibilty and be considerate of others. I appreciate your suggestion of a 2 sittings for the evening meal but logistically this would not work for us. Cruise ships work with a much larger number of guests and they have more kitchen staff to cover the longer hours that 2 sittings would entail. The cost of which is reflected in the much higher prices you pay for these kinds of holidays.

Not equipped for disabled people. Mobility aids had to be left in reception, we not allowed any further into hotel. 2 of the receptionists spoke to customers like they were dirt for example when asked a question about the room for the second time replied “I’m busy ask elsewhere” Room very very small and lacked draw space, unfinished with covers missing, no handle inside shower and could only get to en-suite by walking side wards between bed and half finished wardrobe. Lack of enough hangers in wardrobe, only 2 complete rest broken or missing. Carpet had burns on and a stain, when reported was told don’t worry we will not accuse you of doing it, but, nothing done. Showerleaked Breakfast queues were dreadful due to buffet placing and too many tables packed in to the dinning room Not able to receive internet in room despite reporting twice and being told no problem, however a staff member told me a previous visitor had already reported the same problem
Response from Property: This review is not entirely unexpected as you were unhappy from the moment you arrived at the hotel. We never claim to be equiped to be suitable for disabled people but can welcome people with limited mobility. We go to great lengths to make sure the coach operators are aware of this and Johnsons has assured us this message was passed on to you. Our lift is not large enough to safely take a mobility scooter and our guests are asked to leave walkers and scooters in reception, you are the first guest to have had an issue with this. The room is not small, it is in fact a single room with a double bed. The picture you have attached was taken once the furniture had been moved to make it look more cramped than is actually is. We never like to receive negative feedback but in this case it is not justified.

I have just returned from a coach holiday staying at the Trouville Hotel, Sandown, Isle of Wight. Our room had an unbroken sea view. The room was clean and serviced each day by very pleasant housekeeping staff. Beds were very comfortable. The food was probably the best I have had in a hotel. We chose the full English option each day for breakfast, but there was also a good selection of cereals and juices. Dinner consisted of 3 courses with ample choice and the portions were generous. The staff were all helpful and went out of their way to make our holiday memorable. We were greeted with tea and coffee on our arrival and were told by a member of the bar staff that it was his job to make sure that our holiday was special. I thoroughly recommend the Trouville Hotel on the seafront at Sandown, Isle of Wight.

Trouville Hotel My report for Tripadvisor Overall impression This hotel has had a massive refurb since my last visit many years ago and I was looking forward to seeing the difference…wow ..what a pleasant surprise. The Trouville Hotel, Sandown, IOW should now be on everyone’s list as the ‘place to go’ It is fabulous and here is why….let’s take each area in turn… 1 Reception…all smiles and friendly welcome await…not so sure about the wait for room allocation at 3 pm…surely some if not most rooms will be ready well before and a little planning will eliminate the awful situation of the reception , lounge and surrounding areas being bunged up with guests and their luggage awaiting room allocation ….My only criticism 2. Room…our room with beautiful sea view was excellent. Bright, clean and spacious. The bed extremely comfy. I’m disabled with walking difficulty so concerned about leaving my scooter in reception but no worries …got room 106 first floor adjacent to the lift so minimal travel plus no noise from lift at night. 3. Restaurant..meals turned out to be a most pleasant experience with super waiter service by Ian etc and excellent cuisine with a wide choice…3 course multi choice dinner and a good breakfast menu. The restaurant was busy and quite crowded for a large group but spacious enough and very adequately serviced by excellent experienced staff the food being hot and swiftly brought to our table. 4. Bar / lounge the hotel provides a large and comfortable lounge area with sea views ideal for relaxing with friends, enjoying a drink and simply taking it easy. The bar is well stocked providing various beverages at a very reasonable cost plus an excellent light lunch menue. 5. Facilities…the hotel boasts a fine games room on the first floor for short mat bowls, pool, etc. large dance floor which provided for a great line dance weekend. The lift though small was never a problem..no long waits for me etc. For disabled folk like me with a scooter or wheelchair there is a convenient side entry so no access problems in that respect. 6. Conclusion..I am currently a guest here this weekend and it is like a breath of fresh air…I was here 25 years ago…line dancing..would you believe …it was awful. But now WOW what a transformation …accoustically it’s bright clean decor is quite refreshing and a delight….you really deserve 5 stars but I’m docking 1 for the totally unnecessary reception mess. Other hotels I’ve been to say rooms at 3pm but manage to start allocating much earlier to clear congestion of waiting guests. 7. Finally would I come here again..of course I would, enjoyed every moment thank you The Trouville Hotel, management and staff you really did the extra mile for me.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
