This is an excellent place to stay. Awesome room and service. Things could not have been better. Will always stay here in future. It is in a perfect location to all things in Santa Cruz and loved being close to Big Sur and Sea Clif state park. The staff provided excellent service and tended all our needs. Loved the rooms one of the best I have ever stayed in.

Freshly remodeled room and freshly painted. Everything was clean and cozy. Location is great, walkable to the boardwalk and the beach. Coffee nearby at the bottom of the hill, less than 5min walk. Hotel is dogfriendly! Staff was incredibly helpful and very nice. Great stay, highly recommend. We are family of three with two small dogs.

I've been staying at the Seaway Inn for many many years. On my recent visit, I experienced a problem with a dog barking in the adjacent room to where I was staying. The current residents had left the dog unattended . Once I alerted staff, they took action immediately, attempting to reach the folks staying in the room..... when all was done and settled. The staff was quick, efficient, reasonable, helpful, and addressed the problem as soon as the current residents reappeared. Other things do consider when staying at the Seaway is proximity to the wharf, the pier, numerous restaurants, and even surfing if you so desire. Once again, thanks again to the staff at the Seaway. We stayed here for one night on our first night in the US before starting the PCH route south. Must admit was a bit apprehensive as we usually stay in chains. Needn't have worried. Great room, very friendly staff and adequate breakfast. Parking ample too. Would highly recommend.

Friendly and professional greeting set the tone for a one-night stay here. Room is very pleasant and the bed comfortable. Bathroom is modern and the walk in shower with a choice of shower heads very nice. Breakfast was adequate in choice and being buffet is of course ample. Free parking and WiFi. Loads of dining choice on the nearby (walking distance) long wooden pier. A very nice stay.

Our family stayed here over Fourth of July weekend and this was a great central spot to explore Santa Cruz. It is near the Boardwalk, but away from the more rundown hotels and areas. Seaway Inn is right across the street from The Dream Inn, and we stayed in the ocean view family room which had nice open windows with a birds-eye view of the Boardwalk, beach and Santa Cruz Pier. The hotel stay was very pleasant and having free parking while staying in the Santa Cruz area is quite appreciated. It costs quite a bit of money to park anywhere near the Boardwalk. The hotel is a short 5-8 minute walk to the Boardwalk. Our family of 5 slept comfortably here with two Queen beds and a sofa/pull out futon for my 8-year-old son. Check in was easy, the reception employees were both extremely polite and welcoming. If there is not parking in the hotels front lot, they allow guests to park in the back lot shared with other hotels. We never had to park far while staying. Only reason, I didn’t give 5 stars is that the bathroom could use some updates or extra cleaning, but overall it was not of huge importance to us. The location, proximity to Boardwalk and pier, view from the room, free parking and friendly staff make this place a big win if staying in the Santa Cruz area!

The front desk was great for both shifts. Good advice and fun to talk to. Location was perfect for us. Price was very reasonable. Bed and bedding was good. Shower huge. What else do we need? Desk gave my husband a lower floor because of his lungs.

This place is a scam! The view isn’t really from the room, you have to go outside in the hallway to see the view which is basically the ocean from far away blocked by another hotel! The service and staff are really unfriendly. The curtains are broken, no soap holders, no new towels & when you go downstairs to ask for new towels they give you an empty bag to pack the old towels & take them down to them! It’s very overpriced for what it is! The remote is broken. The king room is tiny. No enough parking. They say that they offer breakfast but it’s a tiny mini muffin with bad coffee in a very cluttered room!!! They also charge you extras without disclosing. It was a horrible experience. The worst ever.

Quaint lodge nestled right at the Santa Cruz boardwalk on north side. Location sells this place. Service was outstanding from Inez who made me feel so welcome and she is absolutely kind with a gorgeous smile. Unfortunately, the bathroom door in our room would not close so there was no privacy. No bueno. We used a folded piece of cardboard as a doorstop. Bathroom has no area to even lay down a toiletry bag. Overall not bad but expected just a tad more. Construction next door was super loud, also.

Seaway Inn chooses 'business' over customer service. In a blatant and egregious exchange with the manager Inez, this is my experience: My mom called to cancel 3 hours past the '72 hour' cancellation deadline. She was told by the front office clerk that she would check with the manager about not charging her the 1st night fee. Clerk called back several minutes later and said my mom would NOT be charged. I was on speaker phone and heard this live. The next day, the Seaway manager, INEZ, called my mom to tell her she would be charged. My mom told her what the clerk had said and Inez said there was no record of that conversation - so it didn't happen and my mom was LYING. My mom was charged. I live in Santa Cruz and went to the Seaway in person to talk to Inez. The first time I went, the clerk said she wasn't there and I left my number for her to call me. She NEVER called me. I went in person again and Inez was at the front desk. I sat down and recounted the exchange between my mom and the clerk and asked that my mom be refunded. Inez said no - SEAWAY is a BUSINESS and they have a right to charge for cancellations. This is true, however, hotels survive on CUSTOMER SERVICE and reviews. Inez had the authority to issue a refund, SHE CHOSE NOT TO. She chose a short term gain of $250 rather than a REPEAT CUSTOMER that would have spent $1000 EVERY TIME my mom comes to visit me. THIS IS SHORTSIGHTED and when I pointed this out to Inez the conversation got heated. INEZ repeated countless times that Seaway is a business. I said the result of running a HOSPITALITY business in that way is TERRIBLE customer service which will be reflected in online reviews. ADDITIONALLY, this review is based on MORE THAN ONE experience at the Seaway. I have stayed at the Seaway before. The rooms are tiny, the bathroom door did not close all the way, and the sink was very scratched up and clogged and overflowed onto the bathroom floor in the middle of the night. I guess they need every $250 they can get.

Excellent location, clean,comfortable beds, last minute trip they found us a room. Close to downtown and pier. Husband's birthday had a great time. The girls at the front desk were awesome parking was good. Safe location comfortable beds.

We stayed three nights and enjoyed our stay very much. It’s a cute, clean place with friendly staff and comfy beds. The location is great, it’s a short walk to the wharf and the boardwalk. We didn’t venture into downtown Santa Cruz but I think it would have been walkable. We took day trips and enjoyed the wharf/boardwalk at night.

Not going through the list of things in my head but I'll narrow it down. -pillows suck -A/C unit annoying and doesn't work properly -refrigerator rattles at night -beds not great All things that made it hard to sleep. All of us woke up several times. But, it's in a prime location. It's clean but dated.

Wonderful gem of a motel in a great location! Stayed during the recent Ironman event and it was ringside viewing. No hot water for showers , management checked into promptly, pilot light had gone out? Small clean room, quiet after music from boardwalk shut down. We would stat again!
