Rest Haven Motel

Good little old roadside motel. No frills, but was perfectly pleasant. Nice little courtyard to have tea in. Was exactly what I expected.

It was covenant location if you wanna be out of the tourist type vibe and yet able to walk or short drive to the shops n beach

If you’re a family and hoping to get the family room don’t count on it. Imagine booking a family room that clearly says a Queen bed and two Twin beds, and you call the hotel/motel to confirm. But then you arrive at 9:30pm after a long drive and they give you keys to something else clearly unfit to four people. Yes, there’s a nice lady in the front desk but all she can do is give you another unfit room (one tiny bed that I had to share with my teen kid) and now it’s almost midnight and you need to split your family and split your luggage (and shampoo, toothpastes etc) into two rooms at separate ends of the property divided by two gates…. Oh and they promise parking but it’s either you wait for the nice lady to clear a parking space when she goes home or you street park. ********** should remove them from their listing. Don’t count on their accountability for mistakes either

Parking easy (shares parking lot with Jack in the Box, which is convenient for fast food lovers). The motel is a work in progress, but well worth the price.

A quiet hideaway among the bustle of Santa Monica. Located right off a main road, quick and easy access to anything you want to do. Room was spacious and clean, bathroom layout was a little smaller than average but manageable. Parking was steps outside of front door. We were lucky, there were only about 7 spaces, one handicapped, and we managed to get a space both times we needed one. Street parking was available. Quiet neighborhood, didn't seem to notice street noise inside room. Check in is a little impersonal, no lobby, ring a bell to summon someone from adjoining office. Transaction done through slot in plexiglass window, much the same as being at a bank, then clerk unlocks door and escorts you to your room. Not unfriendly, just more of a business transaction than a warm welcome. I'm sure there's a safety issue for the staff, but makes you wonder about your own. However, never felt uneasy, grounds were well maintained, we were very comfortable, never disturbed by other guests. Would not hesitate at all to recommend or stay here again.

Okay for the price since it was one of the cheapest options around. The lady in the office was super nice and showed us around. Though I do wish someone was available to check us out at 7am or at least a clear drop box for the key. We had to leave key and parking passes inside the room and leave it unlocked. The rooms are definitely old and need updating. The bathroom door would not stay all the way closed and wouldn’t open all the way. We could only find two wall plugs that weren’t occupied, behind the bed and in the bathroom and the one behind the bed was very lose and barely held my plug. The rooms are not soundproof at all. We could hear so much noise from the room next to us coming and going. Pretty limited parking but we were lucky enough to find space.
