Jozankei Ryokan is mainly visited by local tourists. Maybe that's why we could mostly communicate in Japanese, but it was okay because there was a basic notice board in English. First of all, there is a shuttle bus in operation, so you can make a reservation by phone and wait at the indicated location near Odori Park and they will pick you up. The ryokan atmosphere is really nice and the hot spring is small, but there is also an outdoor open-air bath so you can enjoy the hot spring while looking at the snow. Not to mention the friendliness of the staff (👍👍👍), from the sake bar to the various snacks prepared in the lobby, this is a ryokan that I really want to visit again when I go to Jozankei!!
p.s The check-out time is late and the shuttle bus service time is also late, around 12:30 PM. There is a bus stop 5 minutes away, but even though it is the 4th stop, it is full of tourists and carriers... It's a real hell bus... After using the ryokan, I recommend planning your itinerary leisurely the next day.
