The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota
4.5/5Excellent101 Reviews
Sarasota|1.82km from downtown
Ritz Carlton Sarasota Called prior to arrival to ensure it was appropriate after Hurricane Ian. Ordered a room on Club level. Arrived @4pm waited over 30mins at check in as room not available. Booked by Ritz incorrectly. Room appointed outside construction site. Noisy from 7am. Bedroom mattress super soft. Swopped with child to sleep on sofa bed again not comfortable for an anticipated 5 nights. Called down 7:30am next day to ask to change rooms away from construction. Informed no other rooms available. Asked to speak with manager, was the manager speaking. Unhelpful and unable to assist in resolving an issue which was created by Ritz booking. Personally won’t be using this hotel chain again. Will also change credit card. Poor service and experience.

Just wanted to first of all thank delivering again on an amazing Westin experience - overall everything has been great; from Valet, to Service, to Room attention, the roof top bar - amazing !!! I wanted to take a special moment to commend Rose in the restaurant. Her service, her attention, her up beat attitude, taking time to be personable, handling small issues as if they're just not issues at all - she was great the days that our response team, and myself in particular, were assisted with Breakfast.

We booked this hotel through the Marriott BonVoy programme. We arrived at the hotel and unloaded our car with the help of the parking valet without problem. Our issues started when we tried to check in, where we encountered the most unhelpful member of staff with the most appalling attitude imaginable for someone in that position. We were told that they could not find our reservation, and therefore there was no reservation for us and they could do nothing more. This despite having a confirmation and a reservation reference/number. We showed this to the person on the desk, but they simply took an attitude of ”computer says no”. We asked who, in that case, had sent the several e-mails confirming our reservation, asking us if we wanted to upgrade and also offering advance check-in, to which the answer was ”I don't know”. We were then promptly ignored with no effort to help us sort out this dilemma despite please to look into it further. And then I thought, I have an e-mail offering online check-in, what happens if I do that? So I stood in front of the desk, run through the online process on my 'phone and voila, we were checked in! I showed this unhelpful person that we were now checked in and they begrudgingly looked at their system and said, ”oh there it is” and gave us our keys, with the comment ”we had this problem yesterday” I mean, seriously? If you knew about the issue why not try and help out? Could that not have been mentioned before? The icing on the cake was there was no hint of apology or any acceptance of fault or error. I should say we only saw this person on the desk the afternoon we checked in, at other times there were perfectly helpful and courteous ladies in attendance. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable and the rest of the staff courteous and helpful. It was just the attitude of this one person that was enough to sour our stay and, as it is first impressions that count, is the reason I can only give a rating of 2.

Sandcastle Resort at Lido Beach

I am writing this review to defend this wonderful hotel. I go there every year for my birthday which is on the first week of September. I go after LaborDay. The hotel is a wonderful bargain. It is at least $100 a night less than most of the other hotels. It is NOT a showcase hotel nor does it claim to be. If you want modern decor, large restaurants and fancy rooms this is not the place for you. If you want a hotel with real character and charm and fabulous service this is your place. We ate one night at the bar and one breakfast at the restaurant. (only bar is opened for dinner) Both times the food was delicious and ample. Our room was clean but the furniture was dated. If this is a problem, you are spending too much time in the room. Pillows were comfortable. TV and air conditioner both worked. We had hot and cold water. Each day you are given complimentary water. The staff was more than accommodating. Garage parking is available and part of the service fee. Some people said there was a smell. There is a slight smell all over the island. The beach is right in front of the bar. Towels and chaises are also part of the service fee. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who recognizes a great dollar value. It is quaint and relaxing and makes you feel like you have gone back in time.

It was so disgusting I couldn't stay there and had to make other arrangements. I checked in and went to the room past shirtless drunk, smoking, derelicts. When I entered the room the carpet was old, frayed, with holes, the curtains were ripped or slashed, and there was what looked like a bullet hole in the bathroom door. The walls had random thumbtacks all over like it was a crime scene and they left markers. The room door didn't close all the way it had a huge gap that air and light came through. When I tried to close the door I thought the frame and window adjacent to it were going to break, but there were 3 deadbolts on the door. There were multiple homeless people laying about the property. This was the absolute worst experience and the first time in all my years of travel that I left a hotel because I truly felt unsafe being there.

Called the hotel the morning of 3/14/22 to see if I could check-in at 2p. Front Desk said room was ready for my arrival. Was actually late and arrived at hotel at 4p. Check-in process was a little long with only one agent checking in a line guests. Was assigned room 258. Arrived at room and door was open, all the lights on, AC off, refrigerator door open with several yogurts inside. The bed was made but pillow cases were extremely, wrinkled and looked slept on and the comforter was dirty/stained. I called FD and they left me on hold for more than 10 minutes. I finally hung up and went down to the desk. They apologized and assigned me room 238. Went to new room. Door was locked and upon entry, seemed ok. Went to sit on bed and when I pulled the comforter down, I found the sheets were stained. They may have been washed, but the stains were so bad, the sheets should have been thrown out. Further examination showed very dirty bathroom floors. I called FD and they sent Housekeeping up to change the sheets and clean the floors. All around a very bad first impression. Will not be staying at an Even hotel again.

My 14 yr old and I spent 5 days at Captiva/Beach and had a great time! Room was a good size, newly renovated and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful! We both enjoyed playing ping pong and using the shared pool for the area resorts. The walk to the beach was quicker than what I expected too! Paddleboard and Kayak rentals were around $35 which is what I expected. I loved the quaintness and small community feel- which is a short 10 min drive to Siesta Key Village where all the action/restaurants/shops are. Grocery Tip: stop by Publix on the way in as the only grocery store closed 2 months ago-however 7-11 does have some items stocked to tide one over. Restaurant Tip: Turtles at Little Siesta Key was enjoyable & you might even see a Manatee! We will be back!

This is truly a tropical paradise. Driving up to the property, you'd never imagine what is behind the wall of palms/greenery that surrounds the resort. It's a small property (approximately 20 rooms??) but packs a HUGE punch and gives you the vibe that you're in Jamaica at an exclusive tiki resort. It is magical at night with all the twinkle lights overhead, meandering pathways, and firepits. There is an ice machine, communal washer/dryer, screened-in room for games/shade, a small BBQ area with table and chairs, covered tiki huts for shade, plenty of loungers and hammocks, two pools (one adults only), a public restroom near the main pool, yard games such as tic-tac-toe and cornhole, beach chairs for borrow, books for borrow, bikes for borrow, an outdoor shower for rinsing after the pool, on and on. We were in a Key Suite which was 450 sq ft with a full kitchen. The room looked lik it was recently renovated with updated flooring and granite countertops and had plenty of room for three adults. There was one king bed and a pull-out sofa. The bathroom is small but we made do. Isaac at the front desk was very helpful at check-in and offered recommendations and explained the property. I didn't realize how much I would LOVE this little resort. Location is perfect. You're one mile from the bridge that brings you over to Siesta Key (south side). If you go, you will know!!

We really enjoyed our time at the Courtyard SRQ. Very clean & modern hotel with plenty of amenities. The staff were very nice & helpful. We spent time outside enjoying the patio & the warm pool. It was a relaxing day which we needed. The bar/restaurant is currently closed during the lunch hour. No problem there, we just ordered lunch at Rico's nearby. They delivered within half hour & the food was delicious.

Was looking specifically for property with 2 separate BR/BA and ”kitchen”. Location is right across from SRQ. The front desk staff was fantastic--so friendly with a ”can do” attitude (the staff at The Modern and Art Ovation could take lessons from these folks). Room was very spacious and comfortable. Lighting is too dim in the kitchen and needs stronger bulbs. Good refrig with automatic ice maker. Cookware must be 10 years old--at least invest in non-stick or provide steel wool pads to do dishes. Kitchen did not have a baking pan but staff found one in 5 minutes and also supplied me with aluminum foil. Very easy to cook basic meals there. Lot's of outlets to plug in electronics and work areas. Pool area furniture is filthy and old--wouldn't want to touch any of it. Needs new hairdryers. The smoke detector went off every time I dried my hair. Grill looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months so that wasn't an option. Property has complimentary basic breakfast. All in all, great team and great location. Not fancy in any way but really met our needs

All the staff that I encountered with the week/weekend of July 6- July 10th were very much pleasant, very helpful and friendly. Customer services was on point. THE ROOM WAS SPACEY EVEN WITH 2 QUEEN BEDS. This is an older hotel but when I wiped the bathroom, boards, handles and tables not a dirt stain on my wipes. I was very impressed how clean the room was. Especially the shower. A little xtra, it didn't smell like old carpet in the room. So that is always a plus. The only thing I would say bad and if I was nit picking was my AC in room 527. When the ac kicked it, it was louder than usual. Where a few times it would wake me up in the middle of the night. I would like to apologize that I totally forgot the staff names by the time I came here to write a review. Personally I would like to thank the lady that was checking me/us in and working on 7/6/2022 after 7pm, she is awesome. She helped me and the whole baseball team the whole night. The BF lady who tended to us while we were getting food before our early game at 730am. And most, Bradly the over night shift staff. He was the best. He did not give us a hard time at all after our 1am team adult bonding night cap. He allowed us to have our last baseball family hoorah. Thank you Hampton staff.

Clean, Friendly, my GPS was confused also of directions. No freezer in the refrigerator. Four sets of towels, often places have only two or three for a four person room. Good lights, many have poor lighting. Plenty of electrical outlets which is nice with two CPAPs and all of the electronics needing charged. 2 Desk chair and a desk but it would have been better to have had one desk chair and one nice chair to sit in.

Super 8 by Wyndham Sarasota Near Siesta Key
3.1/5101 Reviews

Do yourself a favor and spend more money and stay in a nicer place. I’ve stayed in Super 8’s across the country. This wasn’t the worst but it definitely illustrates why Super 8’s have a bad reputation. Obviously not in the best part of town. It’s not close to anything but empty shopping centers. They say newly renovated but it’s the same grimy rusty fixtures and furniture. Lampshades were stained and torn. Our room was dirty. The family that owns the place is apathetic and sloppy. The man who checked us in looked like he had rolled out of bed, and indeed there was a comforter in the chair he was sitting in. The lobby is treated as a living room by the owners. Their personal belongings are on the furniture and it’s not very clean. When we went in the room, besides the bet being made we didn’t think it had been cleaned. The floor was sandy and sticky. The surfaces had crumbs on them. The bathroom counter had coffee packets opened on it. We pulled down the sheets to check the bed and saw a huge stain on the sheet right by the pillows. We called the owner in and showed the woman owner the stains on the bedsheets, etc. and she said it was fine and didn’t offer to get the sheets changed. She said the cleaning person was new and would come back. The cleaning lady was nice but that doesn’t explain the grime in other places. The fridge was filthy as was the microwave. The lamps didn’t all work. We didn’t dare sit in the chairS as they had stains. We didn’t get a full set of towels (washcloth, floor towel, hand towels, etc.) after asking several times we only got two bath towels. No soap or shampoo. No ice bucket because they use them to catch the condensation from the ac units. We didn’t want to stay after seeing how unclean the room was and after getting dismissed by the owner. The shower head was gross and had mildew and grime all on it. Unfortunately everything else was booked and like I said we have stayed in worse….so it was doable for one night. In the morning we loaded our car before going to get breakfast and witnessed a man sitting outside cutting his toe and hand nails. When he saw we were going inside for the breakfast he went in the office to set out the bread and waffles WITH the nail clipper in his hand. Totally gross. He didn’t clean or wash his hands. The butter and cream cheese he laid out had not been refrigerated so we didn’t feel it was safe to eat. He took out a “sleeve” of frozen waffles and just laid it ontop the counter then left the office to resume cutting his nails. That plus two loaves of bread (one which he opened with the nail clippers in his hand), stale cereal and Sunny-D was the “breakfast.” We felt only the frozen waffles he hadn’t touched was safe. But we had to go outside and find him to ask for syrup and he just handed us the big counter from under the cabinet. Another guest came in and took the rest of the waffles and we were told there was no more. It was quiet. The ac and hot water did work. But

I booked a room before hurricane Ian because hotel is away from storm surge area and my condo is in zone b. Unfortunately, I only got to use your amenities briefly before a power outage took away electricity for most room lights and hall lights, tv, a/c, elevator, coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, internet, etc. Not a single outlet to charge phones. The staff managed breakfast since they had power in one room and one tv was on in the lobby. Your manager said it was FPL fault. Before that, only one elevator was working. A staff person said one had been out at least 4 months. This seems like neglect. When Ian was nearing, the wind popped a window and the latch would not hold. Maintenance problem? At least there was quick response and a staff person drilled hole to put in hardware to fasten it closed. All power went out on Wednesday ~ 2, due to the storm for sure this time. Thursday am the staff put together a reasonable cold breakfast in mostly darkness. I was surprised that the hotel did not have more than a few battery lights for lobby and breakfast area. This is Florida, even smaller storms often cause outages and the need for lightning is something that should be anticipated. About $50 to $100 worth of little led battery lanterns would have helped a lot. The stairwells were so dark and unsafe also. I think this is also neglect.

Super 8 by Wyndham Sarasota Near Siesta Key
3.1/5101 Reviews
Sarasota|1.38km from Ringling College of Art and Design
But
