The Sarasota Modern, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Central Sarasota Sarasota|0.49km from Sarasota Opera House
The Sarasota Modern is a hip, cool hotel with a Palm Springs 1960’s feel to it. It is located in the Rosemary district so it is about six blocks or a 12 minute walk to downtown. My friend and I stayed at this property for two nights 4/20-4/22/23. The rate was more affordable then the other surrounding hotels. My room was located on the fourth floor right next to the elevator, which initially concerned me. This room turned out to be the best room for me. I never heard the elevator or people getting on and off. This room was located away from the other hotel rooms so you never heard your neighbors. I had a large corner room with high ceilings, large bathroom and shower, refrigerator, small closet with safe and two bottled waters were replaced daily. The lighting in the bathroom is awful! It is so dimly lit that it is hard to put make up on or for men to shave. They provide a make up mirror, but the lighting on that was awful too. The shower was large enough for two people but there was no shelf or bench to put your personal shower items on. The wifi connection is a problem at this hotel. If you need to do work on your laptop computer, forget it. It is so slow and extremely frustrating. My iPhone was just as bad. Better service at surrounding coffee shops and restaurants. We had lunch at their restaurant Wink and cocktails at the pool bar. Staff is very friendly and efficient. The pool area is nice but on the smaller side. The cushions on the lounge chairs are badly stained and need to be replaced. Even on a crowded Friday afternoon, the pool area had a nice chill vibe to it which was enjoyable. The hotel has no shuttle service. You will need to Uber it to the airport, beach, etc. There is a free Trolley that you can pick up on Main Street that will take you over to Lido Beach. Overall we had a nice stay here and will probably come back again next time we’re in Sarasota.

Clean and adequate for one night stay for my visit to Sarasota. It's a short drive to a beach. very peaceful and quite for being directly on Tamiami. Owners are nice and very accommodating. They made sure and provided everything I needed during my stay.

I want to start by saying I knew this wasn’t a “resort hotel” when I made our reservation. But, this also isn’t a “resort hotel”. It isn’t on the beach & while nice, the pool is pretty standard as far as hotel pools. What this hotel does have going for it is it’s location in a different way. It is only 2 short blocks from the waterfront marina & park (a couple good restaurants there, boats & park activities) & is within easy walking distance of many very good restaurants, shopping & grocery stores. It is also an easy car ride (10-30 minutes depending on traffic) from at least 4 beaches as well as other restaurants. Our room was very spacious with plenty of space for the 3 of us (& could add a 4th with no problem). The lobby is nice & open with a bar that appeared popular. The exercise room had plenty of machines & space to workout. The pool was nice, if standard. We used both several times. The valets were nice & got to recognize us & talked to us every day, asked what we were planning & gave us suggestions. Definitely a hotel I’d consider staying at again if we return to Sarasota.

Just wanted to first of all thank delivering again on an amazing Westin experience - overall everything has been great; from Valet, to Service, to Room attention, the roof top bar - amazing !!! I wanted to take a special moment to commend Rose in the restaurant. Her service, her attention, her up beat attitude, taking time to be personable, handling small issues as if they're just not issues at all - she was great the days that our response team, and myself in particular, were assisted with Breakfast.

Breakfast is OK, there is a parking pool. The wall is thin and you can clearly hear the TV sound and vocals in the next room. The front desk clerk was very nice and sincere, and the location was ten minutes from the city centre and the beach.

This hotel is very pretty inside and out. Check in was smooth and he even held our bags for us so that we could immediately jump on the shuttle to go to the beach club. We returned after around 8pm to turn in early. The room next to us was very loud so we decided to get something to eat and come back. Around 1030 the noise had gotten louder but we did not want to ruin the party so we tried to fall asleep as is. Around 130am we could not take it anymore and called down to the desk to try resolve the issue because we could not sleep. The lady said she sent the security team up and that the guy would turn off his TV. I had no idea what she was talking about as this was not a TV at all, but a full on party with easily 15+ people in one room. I complained again and she finally resolved the issue after over an hour. I wanted to write a great review of this property but I slept less than an hour and have a long drive ahead so I'm unsatisfied
