Maison Rangel in Saumur, France, is a cozy home you have to force yourself to leave. The home is beautifully decorated, with paintings that give every room warmth a character. More than once, I found myself lingering indoors, almost reluctant to st out. When finally did, it was only because the town is in walking steps and so worth seeing. That is the magic of this place: it feels like a true home, not a hotel. The welcome was warm from the very start, and the hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Rangel, went above and beyond. They were incredibly helpful, kind, and always ready with a smile Mrs. Rangel's wonderful cooking makes breakfast a slow pleasure rather than a rush. The location is perfect well within walking distance to the town, cafés, and local shops. The people in Saumur were equally friendly, and that same easy welcome followed us into the streets. From the house, it is incredibly easy to explore the Loire region and its endless charming villages and châteaux, from Saumur itself to Montsoreau, Brézé, Fontevraud, and Chinon. Each evening, I returned to comfortable beds and a house that already felt familiar. It was a beautiful stay, and I would return without a second thought. To top it all off, Mrs. Rangel even baked me a beautiful and delicious birthday cake!
