The hotel is located on the edge of the village. From the main road you must turn right (or if you come from the village to the left) into a deadly road. Here you can park the car, or if you walk a little further on the left side of a parking lot. You can also park in the parking garage, for a charge. We were welcomed at the reception. Our room (106) was (yet) in the old part. You could reach it both indoor and outdoor. We had a spacious room with a box, desk, seating, double bed including an extra bed, a terrace (with seating) and a spacious bathroom with toilet, shower and washboard. There were also rooms on this side of the hotel with a balcony (with a beautiful view of the Black Forest). When you walked inside to the reception, you came through the indoor bath and sauna area. This all looks clean and careful. The swimming pool has a bedroom and a dressing room for both men and ladies and two showers. The restaurant also looks comfortable (think of Austria, because of the wood). The dinner was also delicious and looked careful. Breakfast consists of a (extended) buffet and is also located in the hotel restaurant. A spacious outdoor terrace is nearby. The staff is very friendly and they all do their best to make the stay as nice as possible. In the surrounding area you can walk well and / or visit one of the villages.

We were for a night at the Oksen Gasthof. Reception very friendly, rooms are shown with the hint that you can take water of any kind free from the refrigerator. I find remarkable. Otherwhere it is liked and a lot of money taken for this. The room was very clean, large enough. Shower very well with great towels. Dining simple but good kitchen. Portions are also sufficient and reasonably priced in great hunger. Breakfast is all the heart wants. The buffet doesn't have self-service, but it's got everything from the boss on a table. I find great and also very hygienic. All staff and the owners are very friendly. We were friendly informed about the history of the beef and good proposals were made for businesses in the surrounding area. We enjoyed the stay and will certainly come back. The only lack of light - which can occur - was a defect light of indirect lighting and the flaming of the light was a little nervous.

The breakfast was great, no less than a five-star hotel. The surrounding environment of the hotel is first-class, and the internal facilities are also very characteristic, especially the many details are very warm, and it feels like home. The front desk manager is the nicest German gentleman I have ever seen along the way and left a deep impression on us. This was the most satisfying stop on this trip, so it was another day.

Wow! I came here to lodge my disappointment but am astonished to see the same behaviour has been meted out to people since 2019 and nothing has changed. Well, the waiters were quite decent but the lady at the counter probably had the same reason for not to smile or behave professionally to customers. I won't go into details here but will only hope they improve their customer interaction in this day when heritage establishments are struggling hard to maintain their clientele and ”good” image. I have noted someone from the establishment kindly reads the reviews here. So, they can contact me for exact date/time in case it is not clear who this person is. I only hope their reputation is not spoiled due to this while their product (the cake, Black Forest cake) was the best we had had during our trip. Best wishes.
