A regular was verbally and physically abused by our daughter and her cousin (10 and 8) for playing pool wrong... The door staff and landlord did nothing despite complaints. We were told that we would be allowed in until 20:00 as a carry on to put wedding reception fron the Abbey. Our wedding has been ruined by the inaction of the landlord and the abuse to out yound daughter. It tells me everything I need to know about this 'establishment.' It is beyone words the contempt this bar shows towards their patrons. I would advise everyone to stay clear of this abusing environment.

The review is based on the behaviours of the security who feel it’s acceptable to physically lift females and drag them from the pub, a female asked the security why someone had been removed from the pub and they then manhandled her and dragged her outside, this was witnessed by a number of people and extremely unnecessarily, unprovoked, unprofessional and not what you are taught to do as a qualified CIS member, this wasn’t an incident late at night or when the pub was extremely crowded so the public in particular females should definitely be very wary of any engagement with the security/bouncers at The Duke.

Great, busy drinking pub, with disco lights, music and sports. Great range cocktails at £3.95 and good selection of draught lager and cider. Kronenberg 1664 just £3 pint. Don't offer any food. So good we went back following night. Also has a skittle alley and nice outdoor courtyard for smoking.
