Grace Samudera Hotel

This is one of the better hotels in Semporna town, and the price is quite reasonable. We only discovered this hotel after arriving. Its excellent location made us willing to pay a cancellation fee to switch from our previous booking. The hotel is located away from the indigenous areas and is close to the Hia Feng Jetty. The soundproofing is actually decent, not as noisy as some reviews claim. Perhaps we're just heavy sleepers, but we slept soundly through the night. The rooms are a bit dated, but the overall space is fine, and the two large beds are perfect for families. The room also has a balcony, which is great for drying clothes. I suggest the hotel consider replacing the towels and bedsheets, especially the towels, as they've become discolored and don't feel very fresh. For breakfast, there are three options spread across three restaurants, offering both Western and Chinese dishes. There's plenty to fill you up.

The location is excellent, but the soundproofing is terrible; you can hear everything from outside the hotel and other guests. While it appears clean, it really isn't. Both my partner and I woke up with itchy skin. On the other hand, the hotel facilities are quite comprehensive.

Honestly, I never had high expectations for hotels in Semporna. This one was decent, about on par with a chain hotel during a holiday period, and it was clean enough. However, the balcony has glass and aluminum doors, so there's practically no soundproofing. You can hear kids downstairs and people working late at night. One night, I was unlucky enough to have a full night of unloading nearby. If you plan to stay here, bring earplugs. **Cleanliness:** I'd say it's acceptable for Semporna, as the general standard isn't high. The only issue is that housekeeping is done, but not thoroughly. **Service:** They were generally cooperative and helped resolve any issues. However, they are quite particular about the cleanliness of the room, especially the sheets and towels, when you check out. So, make sure not to stain them. Also, ensure you have both room cards when checking out. **Environment:** The location is probably its best feature. It's convenient for island hopping and finding food and drinks downstairs. If I had to recommend it, I'd say it's an option in Semporna, apart from the soundproofing – just remember to bring earplugs. The breakfast, I have to say, is extremely poor. To be honest, Semporna is just a small town. The hotel's location is pretty good, but there are two hotels with the same name in the area, and the driver dropped us off at the old one. We had to drag our luggage to the new hotel. There are two breakfast locations, both are quite mediocre and the portions aren't enough. For hotel service, you have to remember to press the 'make up room' light, otherwise, they really won't clean your room. The room isn't very big, but thankfully it's not noisy. The location is fantastic, right by the Longmen Inn pier. There's a small balcony where you can hang things to dry. The room isn't big, but it's very clean, and the water pressure in the shower is excellent, perfect for a hot shower after diving – super comfortable! The only downside is the breakfast. There aren't many drink options, and on our last day of a three-night stay, all they had were tea eggs. I'd recommend skipping their breakfast and just grabbing something nearby. It's incredibly convenient to everything: the town's seafood market, Watson's, the supermarket, and the piers for boat trips.
