Full Detailed English Review (Hamilton Hotel, updated with sound insulation issue)
I checked into Hamilton Hotel yesterday afternoon. At first, I was really pleased. The room was spotlessly clean and well laid out, and the mountain view out the back window was lovely—I was genuinely excited about my stay at the beginning.
Unfortunately, the hotel’s soundproofing is shockingly poor, which ruined everything before the late-night bar noise even started. I traveled with friends who were staying in the room right next to mine; I could clearly hear their regular, casual conversations through the wall. Even guests staying several rooms away, including noisy kids chatting and running around, every single sound traveled straight to my room without any muffling at all. The walls are paper-thin, and there is zero noise separation between guest rooms.
Everything fell apart completely after 9 PM, though. There is a KTV and bar directly behind the hotel, and the noise was unbearable all night long. The booming bass thumped nonstop until nearly 5 o’clock in the morning. Even with earplugs pressed tight against my ears, the heavy bass vibrations rattled through the walls, as if the subwoofers were sitting right beside my bed. It was impossible to get any rest at all.
This hotel might suit travelers who love late-night parties, loud bars and KTV entertainment, but it is absolutely terrible for anyone who values peace and quiet to sleep. What made the experience far worse was that I specifically told the front desk staff during check-in to assign me a quiet room, yet they still put me in the unit right next to this noisy venue.
I called the front desk twice to request a room change, once at 11:30 PM and again at 1 AM. Each time, they only apologized and said there were no spare rooms available to move me into. I paid a premium price to book two consecutive nights here, but I ended up getting zero sleep overnight, which completely ruined my energy and plans for sightseeing the next day. I was extremely frustrated and disappointed.
I checked out at 11 AM the very next morning and canceled my second night’s booking entirely. This has easily been the worst hotel stay I have experienced in the past 20 years. I would strongly advise anyone seeking a restful night’s sleep to avoid this property completely.
Short Version (for booking platforms like Agoda/Ctrip comment box)
I arrived at Hamilton Hotel yesterday and was initially happy with the clean room and nice mountain view, but the stay was a total disaster. The sound insulation is unbelievably bad: I could hear normal talking from my friends in the adjacent room, plus loud children from rooms several doors down, every noise crystal clear through thin walls.
To make it worse, a KTV bar behind the hotel blasted heavy bass music from 9 PM until 5 AM. Earplugs could not block the thumping vibrations, leaving me sleepless all night. I explicitly requested a quiet room at check-in, yet I was placed beside the noisy venue. Two late-night calls to switch rooms were denied due to no vacancies. I booked two paid nights but checked out early after one sleepless night. This is the most terrible accommodation experience I’ve had in 20 years. Not recommended for anyone who wants quiet rest.
