voco Seoul Gangnam by IHG

I really regret not trusting the online reviews and still taking a chance on this hotel. We booked a room with two single beds, and I specifically requested a quiet room on Ctrip and again at check-in. Yet, we were still given a room facing the street. We didn't get a good night's rest for all three nights. The street noise was unbearable – motorcycles, sports cars, sedans, all so loud! I basically had to wait until after midnight when traffic died down a bit to fall asleep each night. It was exhausting, and I didn't get any proper rest. Choosing this hotel was truly the biggest mistake of this trip to Korea! To get there from the airport, take bus 6009 to Sinsa. After getting off, walk in the direction the bus was going until you reach a crossroads, then turn left. It's an uphill walk, about 300-400 meters, and you'll see the hotel. Sinsa-dong is right across from the hotel, but there aren't many shops worth browsing there; it's pretty uninteresting. There's a three-story Olive Young, but the selection isn't very comprehensive, though the shopping environment is nice due to fewer people.

The location is convenient, and the room is clean with comfortable bedding. The space isn't huge, but it's sufficient. The counter space in the bathroom is a bit small, making it a little tricky to do makeup. However, breakfast was excellent! The fruits and vegetables were very fresh, and the hot food options were satisfying. Highly recommend!

Both times I've visited Seoul, I've booked voco in Gangnam. Last time, my room was a bit noisy as it was facing the street, but this time, the room was much quieter. The service, as always, was excellent. I'd definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Seoul.
