Desert Camp

Sesriem|4.87km from city center
Beautiful setting in a stunning location very close to the Sasriem gates. Lovely cottages in the middle of the desert, braai facilities with a spectacular view. Small kitchenette and comfortable beds. Incredible service and assistance with the booking agent, Taleni Africa. BUT unfortunately, it wasn't as well equipped and organized as our other accommodation during our trip. We had no cloths to wash dishes, no plug, a front door with a broken lock which wasted an hour of our dune time trying to have it repaired, and worst of all there was no hot water for showers - it's winter!! At the cost we paid for two rooms, considering this was the most expensive accommodation on our trip, these small things were very frustrating. Most annoying of all is that we arrived after lunch due to a medical delay with one of our children and when asking the receptionist if we still had time to make it to the Sossusvlei dunes and the canyon she said no, we were far too late. We were so disappointed as we only had the afternoon there and planned to move on early the following morning. Fortunately, we took a drive to the Sasriem gates and discovered we had plenty of time for the drive into the dunes, sightseeing, a walk to Deadvlei, and a final brief visit to the canyon. If we'd listened to her poor advice, we would've completely missed out on this. I'd still recommend this camp though as the setting and location far outweighs the smaller negatives.

Sossus Oasis Campsite

Sesriem|0.52km from city center
If you're looking for the perfect Sossusvlei camping experience, then look no further than the Sossus Oasis Camp Site. It is located just outside the Sesriem Gate, making Sossusvlei extremely accessible, and the campsite almost feels like a desert fairy-tale that definitely should be at the top of your list. Each of the private campsites are like their own mini oasis with each having a rustic yet beautiful private ablution, kitchenette, and ”braai” (BBQ) area. The campsites are spacious and are suitable for tents, bush-wagons and caravans alike; even including a paved roof-covered area providing some reprieve from the sun. Each site is strategically positioned to face the desert (some better than others) ensuring all guests have beautiful views and the best seats in the house for unforgettable sunrises and sunsets. It isn't just the private campsites that make the campsite so special. They have a refreshing swimming pool for you to cool off at as well as the Sossus Oasis (reviewed separately) nearby which serves as a fuel station, convenience store and check-in area for the campsite. Keep in mind that wildlife are able to roam freely, and we were lucky enough to see Oryx as well as a Fennec Fox nearby our site. Also watch out for the jackals, especially in the evenings, as they're notorious bin raiders. I recommend you secure yours with heavy rocks to avoid any surprises. Camping at the Sossus Oasis Camp Site was an unforgettable experience, and I will most definitely be back if I ever have the opportunity of visiting Sossusvlei again!

Desert Quiver Camp
4.4/561 Reviews
The quiver camp rooms are very spacious with effective air con. They are nicely decorated and very up together. Modern bathroom facilities, super comfy bed and a sofa to sit on. The kitchen area is fine although the utensil boxes were a bit basic and had things missing. The breakfast is raken at the Sossusvlei lodge 3km down the road which was excellent. The receptionist was very charming and helpful. Areas for potential improvement include some cold water in the fridge, this would have been appreciated at the end of a long hot day on arrival but the biggest issue we noted was the lack of umberellas around the pool. There were 3 which were quickly taken, meaning 5 other people sat huddled in the shade of the bar and couldn't make use of the remaining sun loungers by the pool. I heard them muttering and unhappy and felt slightly guilty under the shade of mine. All in all a very good stay.
Sossusvlei Lodge

The room was clean and tidy, the dinner was plentiful, and the environment was special and exceeded expectations. The only shortcoming is that there is a Bar signal, there is no Wi-Fi in the room, no signal, and occasionally a text message can be sent for a few minutes, equivalent to the network disconnected. The bar was closed at ninety in the evening. But there is no signal in the Red Desert Scenic Area or even on the road. The wind was blowing at night, and the sand hit the glass door, and there was a little sound. Special thanks to Trip.com customer service, I used the default date when I placed the order. After payment, I found an error and communicated with Trip.com. The customer service was very active in contacting the local agent and helped me change to the date of the next day for free.
Le Mirage Resort & Spa
4.5/547 Reviews
We stayed at Le Mirage for two nights with our two teenage daughters. It was a great stay - wonderful staff, delicious food, amazing views, and great tours of the area. We did the quad bikes and the half day tour to Sossusvlei - both were very well run and well worth it! The pool was refreshing in the hot afternoon, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The meals were very good (especially considering the location, far from anywhere!) Only thing to note is that there are no doors on the toilet or shower (even though they are well hidden from the living area), which could be an issue depending on who you are traveling with. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and professional. Would definitely recommend the Mirage and would stay there again!
