Rongju Hotel (Shanghai Chenghuang Temple)

This trip was a huge letdown. I can't believe Ctrip would list a hotel like this. It's worse than a guesthouse in a third-tier city, yet they call themselves a hotel. It's outrageous, no exaggeration, it felt like sleeping in a garbage can. Definitely not worth the price. The bespectacled guy at the front desk on the fifth floor had an awful attitude, like he couldn't care less if we stayed or not. The whole old building looked like it belonged in Syria – it made me sick. Seriously, all those fake positive reviews are a lie. The sheets are definitely not changed. The hallway, the elevator, everything was so dirty it'll completely shatter your perception of cleanliness. This kind of hotel absolutely needs to be exposed; the hygiene is so bad you'll probably get sick. Everyone, steer clear, it's a guaranteed disaster. Just look at the pictures and decide if you'd stay here. I regret it terribly.

The location and views are absolutely stunning! I happened to be there during a typhoon, which made the experience feel quite surreal. Even though it's an apartment-style room, it comes with dedicated hotel services and daily cleaning. The bedding also felt pretty new. Overall, it's incredibly good value for money.

In a city like Shanghai where every inch of land is precious, the hotel's environment is pretty average. However, every staff member at the front desk was excellent, and the hotel's location is superb. The night view from the window is quite impressive. The City God Temple and a small commodities market are right downstairs, and it's just a 10-minute walk to the Bund, making it incredibly convenient.

This hotel is a hidden gem I booked for my trip to Yu Garden in Shanghai, and its location is absolutely divine! It's right next to the City God Temple scenic area, and the subway entrance is just downstairs. You can take the subway directly to the Bund, Lujiazui, and Nanjing Road without any detours. Yu Garden snack street is only a few steps away, offering all sorts of local delicacies and small shops. If you get tired, you can pop back to the hotel to rest anytime, making sightseeing incredibly convenient and stress-free. I booked the Deluxe King Room with a 1.8-meter bed and bright windows. The room was flooded with natural light, feeling open and spacious, and the panoramic windows offered great ventilation and views. The 1.8-meter king bed was roomy, the mattress had just the right firmness, and the bedding was clean and soft. It was perfectly comfortable for two people without feeling cramped. The soundproofing was excellent, providing a quiet retreat in a bustling area, allowing me to sleep soundly until morning. All the facilities in the room were brand new and fully equipped. I have to commend the front desk service; the staff were incredibly kind and enthusiastic. Check-in and check-out were efficient and quick. They patiently helped with inquiries about sightseeing routes, luggage storage, and even my request for a late check-out. They were always ready to assist with any questions, offering thoughtful and attentive service. Location, room, and service all get full marks. This is definitely my top choice when visiting Shanghai, and I'll be coming back again!

I booked a 1.5-meter queen room with an outside city view, and opening the window gave me a panoramic view of the old city, plus I could even see the Oriental Pearl Tower – it made for some great photos. The queen bed was just the right firmness, the room was spotless, and the amenities were complete and comfortable. The front desk service was gentle and attentive; they patiently helped solve any issues I had. They also offer free luggage storage, showing great attention to detail. Staying here for a trip makes everything so worry-free. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai!

Excellent! They upgraded my room for free and even accommodated my request for a late check-out, which was really thoughtful and considerate, especially for travelers. The location is super convenient for getting around, and I loved that all the cute shops I enjoy browsing were nearby!

I was quite happy with the room. It's just a two-minute walk from the subway station, and the staff was really friendly. My flight was later the next day, so they even let me extend my check-out time until 2 PM.

The hotel's location is excellent and super convenient. It's just a 1-minute walk from the elevated exit 1 of the subway station – turn left, and you're right at the hotel building. The hotel itself is on the 5th floor, while floors 1-3 house a wholesale market selling everything from necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and scarves to underwear, socks, White Rabbit candy, and Old Shanghai vanishing cream. On the small street in front of the hotel on the first floor, you can find delicious crab roe noodles and soup dumplings. Yu Garden and its food street are only about a 3-5 minute walk away. The hotel staff were warm and thoughtful; they kindly extended my check-out until 2 PM and even gave me a lovely gift when I left.
