Pod Choice is a small hotel located near Madang Station Exit 3.
📍 Location
The location is okay, especially if you like staying in a more local area. There’s a local market nearby, but there aren’t that many restaurants around.
The downside is that if you want to visit famous attractions, you’ll probably have to transfer trains quite a lot, so it can be a bit inconvenient.
🛏️ Room
The room is really, really small 😭
There’s an elevator, but it was quite dirty and had a strong cigarette smell.
I’d recommend bringing only a 20” suitcase or a front-opening suitcase because there’s not much space.
The bathroom was also quite smelly. It had this strong “pipe” smell, probably because there was no drain cover.
For the bedroom, I could smell cigarette smoke coming from the next room, and the soundproofing wasn’t great either. You could hear quite a lot from outside/other rooms.
Luckily, I brought an air purifier + earplugs, which saved me lol.
On the bright side, the AC worked really well and the mattress was comfy.

The staff couldn’t really speak English, but they were still nice and friendly. They also let me check in early, which I really appreciated!
✨ Overall
If you’re traveling solo, I’d say it’s okay, especially if you’re looking for a budget-friendly place in a local neighborhood.
But if you’re booking, I’d recommend getting at least a Single Room B (the one with a window outside) or another room type with more space.
If you’re traveling as a couple or group, I’d probably look for another option because the rooms are just too small 😭
