The room is spacious enough, and sitting on the sofa watching the ships go by on the Huangpu River is incredibly relaxing.

The room was spacious and the bathtub was very comfortable. The buffet dinner offered a fantastic variety, with lots of seafood, including large oysters and Beef Wellington, much better than my last visit. The night view was also beautiful, with views of two bridges. The only downside is that the facilities are a bit dated, but overall it was great and I would definitely come back again!

The hotel's location is excellent, just a few steps from the riverside promenade, perfect for cycling, jogging, or a leisurely stroll. Although the room facilities aren't the newest, they are well-maintained and convenient to use. I especially loved the double vanity in the bathroom. The room also offered a nice river view. The hotel's fitness center and pool were quite busy, and the 1188 restaurant on the ground floor was even more crowded for the evening buffet, which offered a decent variety of food and drinks. Outside the 1188 restaurant, there's an old villa district that used to be the Shanghai Alcohol Factory dormitory. It's now preserved and converted into an English-style pub, though I'm not sure if it's currently in operation. Now for some areas that could be improved: The young lady with glasses at the front desk during check-in spoke in a very soft voice throughout, almost mumbling, and showed no enthusiasm. This was a stark contrast to my previous experiences with InterContinental hotels. I wonder if they treat business and non-business guests differently.

The river view room offered a fantastic view, and the service was great. The room facilities were a little dated, and the breakfast wasn't very good – many items like the steamed buns and fried rice were cold. Overall, it was a good experience.

The room was spacious and comfortable, and we chose a river-view room. The surrounding area has convenient transportation and a wide array of delicious food, making it easy to get around. I noticed quite a few foreigners staying at this hotel.

Opened in 2010, the InterContinental Shanghai Expo shows its age, but just as an old Mercedes is still a Mercedes, an old InterContinental is still an InterContinental. The lobby is grand and elegantly laid out, and the rooms are the same – I love the 'old money' vibe. I enjoyed quietly sitting in a chair, watching the Huangpu River and the boats passing by. The oval bathtub is quite unique, and the slightly aged tiles add a different kind of beauty, a sign of maturity. Since my stay included both dinner and breakfast buffets, I had a chance to try both meals. The quality was better than expected, and the value for money is among the best in the InterContinental chain!

The main advantages are the river view and the large garden. The price is very reasonable for a five-star hotel with a prime river view, and the breakfast quality is consistently good. However, there are notable drawbacks: the building is old, and the room's fixtures and electrical outlets are outdated for current needs. It's far from the subway, and there are limited dining options nearby. This hotel is best suited for guests who drive, don't mind older decor, and primarily want to relax and enjoy the river view.

The hotel is a bit old, so naturally, the facilities can't compare to newly opened ones. There were mosquitoes in the room, and the electric mosquito repellent I asked for didn't help. The hairdryer outlet in the bathroom wasn't working either. On the bright side, the front desk service was excellent.
